If indeed Halifax is in sell mode, shouldn't be a big issue to get a deal done. Halifax have assets(plural) that Cape Breton would be interested in. I don't think Monighan for Bowers straight up will do it. If you want a high end player, you have to be willing to pay the going price. I guess it depends on how badly you want that high end player. This would be true if it was a fair, free, open market, but it isn't. There are 3 potential teams Bowers would even consider playing for, not 10+ like with Roy. Bowers is essentially a 9th overall selection now.

no it's not the alternative is keep Bowers rights until a suitable deal is found and use your other assets to acquire the pieces you need to make a run now only Moose fans seem to think Moynihan is the only alternative To me a Moynihan gets you a late 1st and another good asset like a Martineau/Beaudin or a 2nd. Not Bowers. Moynihan likely does not want to go there anyway. An American coming here probably gets franchise loyalty and gets asked if he would like to be traded. I think Halifax likely offered something like the 7th overall, a 1st in 2017, 2nd in 2016 and another later pick or player at the draft. When you consider what MacKinnon cost or Drouin I dont see it as worth it to spend that much on Bowers.

I don't think the #9 pick would be worth Bowers playing on a division rival.
I don't mind calling his bluff.

Honestly why are we even talking about his school money? He gets $4000/yr Canadian for four years if he plays in the Q this year. Or he can go to the ECHL and make a minimum of $17000 U.S. (About 25k Canadian) and in the ECHL he is still billeted, meals paid for etc so really one year down there and he makes all of his Q school money if he's smart with his cash. That's if he even intends on going to university who knows. Any weeks spent in the AHL and you can double his money. For the record, it's $6000/yr for 4 years plus another $4000 for playing as a 20 year old.

Moynihan only keeps getting mentioned because Cry Baby Bowers will only play for 1 of 3 Teams .....who are Saint John's 20's ?......Who are Moncton's ? Any Teams from Quebec sniffing around Moynihan ? Can't help but wonder why ?High End Player .......jeesh.... I don't think it's fair to call Bowers a cry baby. I have been told by someone that knows the family well that you couldn't meet a nicer young fella. I'm pretty sure the reason he will not report here is not that he dislikes the people of Cape Breton. I would like him to play for Cape Breton, but if he does not we should receive fair compensation. Unfortunately most all of us have no idea what was offered.

Most of the Older Season Ticket Holders that I talked to in my Section think he is being a SOOK ! Right or Wrong , I am just saying what the feeling out there is . A lot don't want him here now......period ! I am sure after seeing him play though , they "perhaps" would change their mind though !

Who said anything about the people of Cape Breton ? Never said anybody did. Just saying that I'm pretty sure it's nothing personal against Cape Breton, so we don't have to give personal disrespect to a 16 year old. Because you have reasons for not playing for a team, doesn't make you a cry baby.

Lots of innuendos here on Bowers, even some which could make us think he is a nice guy. Unfortunately, when you are given the chance to play in the Q and specially close to home, the fact to not report is a really bad sign about character when the player insists on a couple of other teams. My guess is that it has everything to do with the agent and the parents not the kid. Something has maybe been been offered....who knows...

WAKE UP. The team knew he wasn't coming when they drafted him - the agent advised that before the draft. So the team picks who they felt was the best player available knowing that he wasn't coming so they WOULD HAVE to trade that pick if they took him. Get on with the trade for the benefit of the team. Doing nothing with the pick they made knowing they had to deal it once they made it, isn't reality or beneficial to the team.

To in any way think not wanting to play in Sydney under Dumont is a sign of bad character is an insult to the kid and character assassination of a kid absolutely none of you have ever met. All your comments have done on this topic is prove how immature FANS are....not the 15yr old kid youre throwing under the bus while hes actually taken the high road without slamming the team who picked him after refusing to report when he had every chance to do so in the media following the draft. Do you also think Quebec stole a kid like Gentile? Grow the fuck up.

I respect the fact that they are pissed that a kid ( from Halifax ) doesn't want to play here ...they have a hard time understanding why ......why ? ...because they are not being given a reason they truly believe . They are not digesting the Waterloo / NCAA scenario and that upsets them . Your suggesting that it is "way over their heads" is unfair to them because they are a lot smarter about a lot of this then you give them credit for ....Old School as they may be .

A lot of you who are angry at Bowers should redirect that anger to Dumont who picked a player he was told ahead of time wouldn't play for Cape Breton. Why aren't fans roasting him over the fire and questioning him about this? Now he is being the "sook" and being spiteful and saying he is not trading Bowers because he is basically doesn't want to give Bowers what he wants. He should take ownership of the mistake he made and deal him and help his team.
