Who would make your top 4 on D that special that they shouldn't draft a D if that's the BPA? It's kinda tricky really. As it stands right now, I guess I'd break it into 3 parts. Top 3 guys are Ford, Fitzgerald, and Donaghey. This is where it's a little tricky and might have to wait and see who becomes the best of the rest maybe. I personally like Nauss but he needs to bulk up and work on his overall strength. Tallifer came along way at the end of the year and only gets a slight edge over Hunter because he's a better skater (my opinion of course). Then Hunter is the other guy that you have to add in to the middle 3. And lastly you got Argento as your 7th guy who I just haven't seen enough to say he better then anyone in the middle. Are you saying there's players in this draft better then those guys that will come in and be better then A 17yo Nauss, Tallifer and an 18yo Hunter? Like I said if there is a Green like guy there that would be then yes I'd like it. I just don't think that type of player is in this draft or will be there at 7. There is one player I would take though. The kid from Cole Harbour who would be a 15yo next year. Can't think of his name but that kid fits the type of player I'm talking about. I think he could have gotten exceptional status. Just don't think he'd be in talks for this year top pick but maybe top defencemen. Taillefer will be an 18 year old as well - Nauss (17), Argento (17), Ford (18), Taillefer (18), J. Fitzgerald (18), Hunter (18), C. Fitzgerald (19), Donaghey (19). Anyone know if there were any Dmen who tried out last year and were on the cusp who could potentially replace a D (Jacques style)? Not sure how many of the D spots are locked.

Having too many picks is only a bad thing if you try to force all of those prospects into your lineup. For starters there's a limit on the number of 16 year olds that can play for your team, but with the league adjusting the draft rules so you can pick 15 YO players in any round, I wonder if that rule limiting them will change. BUt also, the younger they are, the more ice time they need to grow as players. The more you have, the less ice each will get.
So bottom line, when you have a draft front loaded with picks, and your team is fairly balanced already, you are much better off trading a few for established players, or trading for more picks the following year(s).

Your right Tallifer is 18 my bad. But the player your talking about or asking about is J Fitzgerald. And he's 19 this year. He won't be back. There's no space for him.

You can actually request an exception to that rule and the league almost always obliges. I think Bathurst, Saint John and Val-d'Or all got exemptions from it this season. I think it has to do with if the league thinks the 16 year old is a legitimate improvement on whoever's spot they're taking.

The Q league doesn't like to rate Atlantic players high, unless it's too obvious (Crosby, MacKinnon, etc.)

Is there a date for the decision on Veleno? You think they would have made a decision by now. Strange that they didn't allow Crosby but they will allow Veleno.

This list came out just after the scouts saw the tourney that included Velano but he only made the request a few days ago. Hockey Canada would likely need more time to decide.

With the 19th pick from Oleary release CB should be in the dealing mood with 3 picks.
1-St-John (Drum) 2-Bathurst 3-Victoriaville 4-Cape-Breton (Chi) 5-Charlottetown (Gat) 6-Cape-Breton 7-Halifax 8-Rouyn-Noranda 9-St-John 10-St-John (Cha) 11-Blainville (She) 12-Chicoutimi (BC) 13-Val-D'Or 14-Shawinigan 15-Val-D'Or (QC) 16-Blainville 17-Moncton 18-Drummondville (Rim)
