for some reason some of the posters in the Chicoutimi thread on the french board for the last week or so think that Chicoutimi's 2024 1st will go back to them at the draft and the Eagles would get defenceman Matteo Mann who'd be a 19 next season. Interesting, IMO giving said 1st up for potentially 1 year of Mann wouldn't be a great deal for us. If I had to take an educated guess, I would say we would be running Schmitt, Ruccia, and Newcombe as OA 2004's so Matteo Mann coming in for 1 season for a first not in the "go for it" year doesn't make a ton of sense. That was my thinking as well but with how this organization has been run since 2008 who the hell knows what they're thinking.

I think Houde would have the edge on Ruccia as a 20 for 24-25. This next half is huge for Ruccia to prove he’s even worth bringing back next year.

I definitely agree with you there, I was just kind of mentioning Ruccia from the teams perspective as they have too much invested. My own personal opinion is that he's a fringe Q goalie at best, almost reminds me of Kyle Jessiman.

Never heard anything official but I was told that the Young Sinclair Kid that plays with the U 18 Sydney Mitsibishi Rush is leaning strongly towards US College . I guess we will know soon enough .

bomber1974, that is a great link. Thank you!
Do you know if a record was kept of the All Rookie teams each year? A lot of very good 15 year olds had a hard time cracking the all star teams but still made it to the Q, the following season.

bomber1974, I can remember a Rookie team being named back as far as 2003-04 perhaps by a slightly different name. That was the season before the Eagles selection of James Sheppard.
It's too bad the records don't go back further.
Thanks again

i just hope they draft Cole Chandler, good size center ,over a point per game player , from NS and hope he reports,if available Cole Chandler seems to be one of the players who is on an upwards trajectory towards the draft. He had a good first half of the season, but a glance at his numbers over the past 15 games or so shows that he has been scoring at a 2 points per game pace. In one of those quirks we often see in hockey, he has some similarities to Jacob Melanson, and similar to Melanson, he also has Springhill roots. All prospects are loaded with skills and heart and determination or they wouldn't be where they are, but sometimes there's a little extra when you have a mixture of that farm boy strong, workhorse, hate to lose mentality with a knack for scoring goals. Cole is ranked as an A player in the first CSR rankings in November and as the 7th best from Atlantic Canada in the first Hockey Prospect rankings in December. I had him at 12th overall at the Christmas break and 5th overall in Atlantic players that included Lane Sim, but Sim has since opted to play in the OHL. My own rankings are really for my own use and will be adjusted as the season winds down. Cole Chandler is one of those players who keeps steadily improving that the scouts look for. I think he would be a great fit for the Eagles. Just my opinion, and people would be wise to go by the scouting providers who combine the work of dozens of top scouts who have been doing it for years. I do my own thing by myself for no other reason than to see if I'd be any good at it. 12. CSR A; HP 7A
2007 COLE CHANDLER, Steele-Subaru 6'0" - 165 lbs. Centre: Shoots LSEASON | TEAM / LEAGUE | GP | G | A | PTS. | PIM | 2020-21 | Bedford Barons NSU15MHL | 25 | 7 | 9 | 16 | 12 | 2021-22 | Bedford Barons NSU15MHL | 33 | 29 | 37 | 66 | 8 | 2022-23 | Steele-Subaru NSU18MHL | 26 | 22 | 20 | 42 | 16 |
Cole Chandler is a big, sturdy centre with Steele Subaru who has all the makings of a power forward who can score goals and make plays. Already 6' and 165 lbs. at 16, he plays a solid 200 foot game that should translate to a top six forward role in the Q.
Last season in the NSU15 league, he finished 5th in league scoring, only 2 points out of 2nd. He led his team in scoring with almost double the number of points as the next highest scorer on his team (Tucker Makinen with 38 points).
While he doesn't have blazing speed to the outside, he has the ability to power past defen- ders and cut to the net and has a good shot. Along with his size, he seems to enjoy playing a physical game and looks to have some strong leadership qualities.
As of February 1, 2023, Cole sits tied for the league lead in goals (22) and sits 7th in scoring with 42 points, 8 points behind the league leader. He has scored 51 goals over his past 59 regular season games.
