Fournier meh! but Critchlow nope.Dont think you can even use either name in the same sentence as Shelley as far as leadership , toughness and character guy Difference with Fournier over bent is he still could put up numbers. Bent has 25 points and minus 55 in 161 games!! My point with Fournier and Critchlow (and you can add Ryan Seymour to that list) is just because a guy was acquired in a trade, doesn't mean they can't/won't be put in a leadership role. I am not old enough to remember Shelley play, so, I can't make the comparisons to Critchlow and Fournier that you can, however I do know the game has changed a hell of a lot in 20 years. Plus, I'm talking about who gets the A's.. people seem confused as to who will be the captain and that baffles me. Timo will be captain. He's the only guy who wore a letter from last year who is left.

i didn't say they weren't i just said they couldn't compare IMO. and just because i don't agree with what you think doesn't mean i know nothing about hockey...give your head a shake buddy!!! Okay so in your mind Jody Shelley was and still is God- to say that Fournier and Critchlow don't even compare to Shelley is ridiculous. Shelley was a great captain and those two, especially Fournier, aren't that far behind.

I like the look of this team. There were guys I personally thought were going to make the team that shouldn't have and they didn't. I personally don't really remember the last time that happened here. I am surprised about Flower making it though. He never blew me away when I seen him. Not saying he isn't good just didn't seem to out shine others. I personally think that if Charlebois looked better then Flower and might have made it over him if he didn't get the concussion. As for the forwards and I know it's just for fun putting together the line up, but every one seems to want to split up Moynihan and Meier. Why? They have history together, and great numbers with each other. It's a matter of who they put on the other wing with them for me. Also why does everyone think Durandeau will play 2nd line duty. He is only 16yo. It's not often that 16yo come into this league and play top 2 line minuets. Yes I remember Drouin and McKinnon, but those guys are special players. Durandeau is good just not Nate or Jo good. I liked what I have seen from him so far, but it's been against B teams. I just think he might start the year playing 3 and 4 line to start the year. People over value players sometimes here. First bolded point: I agree wholeheartedly. I'm pleasantly surprised that we took quality over loyalty. I came into camp thinking Shewfelt should be cut as well, but after watching him in pre-season he seems like he's putting in the effort he showed in his rookie season, maybe he got back in shape. I'm more than happy to give him a chance. As for Flower making it, being a high second round pick I feel like politics played into this. He was probably promised a spot beforehand in order to have him report to camp. Unfortunately when a guy is highly touted and has options, you have to do that in order to attract what you think are the best players going forawrd. Second bolded point: I personally have Durandeau starting the season on a line with Fortier and Moynihan because they seemed pretty intent on keeping that line together all pre-season so far. I think they want to try to build a 2 line offense with Somppi, Meier and Putintsev as the other line. That being said, I don't doubt at all the lines will be shuffled a bunch as the season goes on.

Here's what you don't get with the Durandeau playing with those two guys. One its to make him comfortable transitioning to this league. But here's the bigger thing to consider. Did Meier play any exabition games? The answer is no! Why's that now, simple he is going to San Jose's training camp. He wouldn't want to chance himself getting hurt and missing out on his first career training. Like I said Meier and Moynihan will be together as long as they are on this team together.

I actually have considered this point, despite your needlessly condescending tone. I'm presenting possibilities. I'm aware Meier hasn't played yet, and I'm aware Donaghey hasn't played yet, because yes, they want to keep them healthy for NHL camps. In the past Ducharme has been known to split up his most talented players during the regular season. Meier and Moynihan are presumably the most talented two players on this team, so it's not a given they'll stay together. Durandeau is small, and yes, he needs to get comfortable with the league, and playing him with 2 vets is a good way to do that. But Meier won't be here to start the season, so it's likely he'll remain there for the first bit of the season, do you disagree? It's not like Dom hasn't given talented rookies shots in the top 6 in the past.

There's a good chance while Meier is gone he will put the Moynihan bother together again till Meier comes back. I think you might see Durandeau playing along side one of Dachyshyn or Crossley to start the year. Look like I said the 16yo rookies who got top line minutes were Nate and Jo. Ciampini was a 16yo that everyone thought was going to be great too remember. Now I'm not saying Durandeau is like Ciampini but somewhere In between him and Jo. People on here expect way to much from first round 16yo picks. Hell look at a 17yo Fortier he lead the QMAAA league in scoring as a 16yo and look at him last year. Simple case of over valuing again.

This weekend, and Thursday will be interesting to see who plays now we have our roster. I wonder if Brassard/Resop will still split or get to play a full game now!

Again no, it's not a case of me over valuing. The kid is a small, offense first player. He needs to learn to play on both sides of the puck better, there's no question, however that doesn't mean he won't see ice time in the top 6 or on the power play. I'm not disagreeing that he will probably spend the majority of the year in the bottom 6, however I see him getting a chance here and there. I'm aware he's no MacKinnon or Drouin. I'm not entirely sure what your point is with Fortier. He spent the entirety of the year in the top 6 and produced pretty well for a rookie. That being said, a year makes a big difference, Durandeau isn't 17. \Why did Fitzgerald play then? He is going out to the same camp as Timo.... Haha, you butchered that quote a bit It's a bit tricky to get used to the bbcode brackets. Anyway I am unsure if Cavan is attending the Sharks main camp. He attended the rookie camp in July as far as I'm aware. I could be wrong as it's a bit difficult to find information on it. I'll ask around and see if I can find out for sure.

Cavan went to a development camp in July- he will go to rookie camp in September and if he impresses enough then he gets an invite to the main camp. I suspect he gets sent back once rookie camp is done and as long as Timo doesn't play horribly that he gets the invite to the main camp.
