The simple fact is if the player really wants to play hockey, and the parents really want their kid to play hockey, they'd go to whoever drafts/acquires them. No excuses.

Well Waterloo also drafted him so... It's not just black and white, there are more leagues than just the QMJHL and he doesn't owe us anything.

While you folks are arguing over Bowers take some time to maybe watch #6 pick Hoyt use his speed and skill to leave other 99-born in the dust at the U17 dev camp. I think you all will really like him and not worry about the Bowers situation or what choices families make.

I don't think anybody forgot about Hoyt he's a very good young player who I've seen play quite a bit over the past couple years. That being said - He's not at Bowers level right now but that also doesn't mean he won't get there.

Can't wait to see what Svech, lazarev and dubois do this year. Any idea out there how their summers went so far? Hope they show up in good condition.

Watched Hoyt play for team red last night for the U17's on fast hockey. He had a very strong game with some really big hits and has a wicked shot. I can definitely see him making it this year.

Agreed with your assessment - Hoyt should be able to make this team. Despite being 16 he's not at all timid and has always played against older kids so that won't be an issue for him even though he's not the biggest kid he definitely doesn't shy away from physical play. Peyton Hoyt was always on the radar but was still one of the fastest rising players in this draft he started the year between 10-15 but at the Canada Games a few scouts I spoke with thought he really impressed scouts there and in some cases more so than Shane Bowers - It's not all about points at the Canada Games because Hoyt was asked to play in all scenarios. I think Eagle fans are really gonna like what Hoyt brings and he does it every game and every shift.

Nice to see some talk about the players who ARE coming to training camp. They are the ones that deserve our attention.

One week away from training camp. Looking forward to seeing Peyton Hoyt and the big free agent from Ontario,Sorrentino. He is a big boy, 6'5,220. Should also be interesting to see the battle for the backup goalie slot.
