Story in the Summerside newspaper indicates that MacCallum is leaving the Jr. A Capitals to play in Cape Breton for the remainder of the season. Beware the Caps hothead GM Pat McIver. He'll be out for revenge. If you end up with someone on your team playing Jr. A in Summerside, he'll find some way to extract his payback. MacCallum might be looking at this an opportunity to audition for a 20 y/o job for next season. Most Charlottetown followers are big supporters of MacCallum. He was hit and miss most of last season but improved as the season progressed. As everybody knows, he bailed us out big time in playoffs after McDonald went down. He played very well for us at the start of this season until the team decided to opt with Welsh as a 16 y/o backup behind McDonald rather than the 19 y/o MacCallum. He was a very popular teammate in the Islanders dressing room. He's a good backup who'll push Belanger for starts. I was a big fan of MacCallum being an undrafted kid who through hard work and admittedly some good fortune, managed to be the only goalie to start 3 season openers in a row for our franchise. Ceryainly the highlight of his major junior career would be the playoff performance he turned in last year after the devastating injury to McDonald..... he really carried the mail for us so to speak in the first round and held us in games in round two versus the Remps as well However his season this year has been very strange... as mentioned he started the year with us and most thought the plan was he would spend at least much of the first half with us either as a roster player or a callup to offset the loss of McDonald to pro camps and world juniors and Welsh to under 17's..... but instead he wound up being acquired by the Titan where he lasted a few weeks before quitting and opting to sit home waiting for a trade to Summerside.... the Caps have a very strong team this year and I assume MacCallum thought he would be the starter there ..... seems they are so pleased with the play of Williams they sort of used a platoon situation once MacCallum's rights were finally acquired by them.... in the meantime he was dealt from Bathurst to Chicoutimi to Val D'or... I guess as insurance or maybe as a possibility for next season... yet somehow the day after the Foreurs acquire him he winds up back on waivers and gets claimed by the Eagles. I can see why the Caps are not happy about him deciding to leave and go back to major junior...... weird year for the kid.. burning bridges everywhere

Another Year of Education Money for the kid too though .......But it's only natural to want to play at the Higher Level if you are competitive at all .........no Crystal Ball here but he will "most likely" get a pretty good crack at an Overage Season also .

He 's in university so if he plays this year and comes back as a 20 next year that's 2 more years of scholarships.

Did Bertrand get claimed ? I was wondering about that too because if he isn't available for tn with the absence of Bishop , the Russians and the departure of Sorrentino and Reginato then we're pretty low on forwards for the game.

Also, with MacCallum, bois mentions burning bridges, but I think he'd be welcomed back in Sunmerside with open arms next year as a 20 y/o regardless.
He's a good goalie and should be great in Jr. A. He will roll the dice here to try and earn a look in the Q as a 20 y/o next season and if not, Jr. A teams will line up to get him.
I'll admit to not having been a big fan through most of last season but I was damn impressed and proud of how he persevered and improved toward the seasons end. It was pretty special the way he carried the team after McDonald went down.
And he looked really sharp in games with us in September.
At the very least you get a guy who will be a well liked and popular team mate.

@mlalancettetva: "J'ai beaucoup d'amis au Cap-Breton, mais là j'en ai un de moins. J'ai la mémoire longue", dit Mario Durocher. #tvasports
It appears Durocher is not impressed the Eagles claimed MacCallum.
Further to this, and, as expected, Jessiman has been returned to Midget.

Not the first nor the last time someone gets pissed off. Good pickup, then by Dumont! Let's hope he works out.

Was sort of expecting that, a right handed shooter to play on the third pairing.I would suspect that Greene would go to Junior A?.

Any word on Bertrand?

He is still on the Eagles roster, Sorrentino and Reginato are not, if that means anything. Either he was on the protected list or he wasn't and nobody claimed him. In any event, looks like he is still here.

Hopefully Bertrand is still on the team. I find he's an underrated player, brings energy and grit to the lineup.
