I noticed a couple f things recently... -two recent Hodge articles have said "in the 21 year history of the franchise". I found that hilarious considering how hard the WC try and pretend the Alpines never existed and that it's the same franchise! -two days after the scathing article wondering why the Cats goaltending is so bad, Hodge writes another Klima article with a lot of positive stuff...wonder if his bosses got on his a$$ about the article earlier in the week? lol Actually today's article was about how disappointing Karabacek has been. I think the Klima article will be in the paper tomorrow. It's pretty much been a solid four days of negative articles. Quite impressive really. Baie-Comeau pretty much gave Karabacek away... His value was low so he's giving low value.

So should I change this thread to 2016 - WTF?
Cats are currently on a 9 game losing streak, if they lose Wednesday they will tie the longest losing streak in the Q this season.(Baie Comeau twice)
Gotta stop this non sense on Wednesday.

It all started with that terrible game in Cape Breton where Garland got hurt and had to leave the game. Since then, despite not missing any games, he has not been producing at anywhere near the same pace. Is it possible he is playing hurt? It would be nice if the others picked up the slack though.

The issue is the team is built around him, when he isn't there(or not at his best) you get a huge dropoff. It doesn't help that goaltending is a huge black hole and it impacts the rest of the roster.

Assuming this debacle does not miraculously turn around, and the Cats make a quick exit from the playoffs, to me it seems more and more likely heads will roll ... Shannon? Clearly he overestimated the strength of his team when deciding to buy at Xmas, and botched the Xmas trade period, and especially the goaltending situation, VERY badly ... GMs have been fired by RKI for much less ... Odds he is back next year - 50/50 ... Rumble? I agree with most that he has done a good job over his tenure in getting more out of his roster than most would expect ... and I think he is playing with one hand tied behind his back without a legitimate starting goalie ... but, the wheels have completely fallen off the bus, and some of that falls on the head coach. Odds he is back 75/25 ... Scott Munroe? We are one of the only teams in the league with a full time goalie coach, and yet ... He doesn't have the greatest pieces to work with, but the fact that none of them seem to really be improving does not speak well of his work ... A good goalie may not be able to make a bad goalie great, but he should be able to make a bad goalie a bit better than he was ... which he has not. Odds he is back - 10/90 ...

I believe it was mentioned in another thread that Rumble said on Friday that Garland had not practiced much during the week. I don't think there's any doubt he's playing at well below 100%. Do you sit him out for a couple games at some point? Hard to do now when you're in the middle of a horrific losing streak.

I've heard he is dealing with Strepp Throat ... no idea if that is fact.

Baie-Comeau pretty much gave Karabacek away... His value was low so he's giving low value. They got 2nd round value for him, wouldn't say they gave him away... 2015-12-21 Baie-Comeau Moncton Karabacek, Vaclav (1996-05-02) and Rd_2, 2016 (Bat) Moncton Baie-Comeau Rd_1, 2016 On its own, this deal is not bad. At the time of the trade we were either in 2nd or 3rd, and Bathurst (their 2nd) was either 16th or 17th. So our 1st would have been the 16th or 17th pick at the time, and Bathurst's pick would have been 20th. If CB dumps Bowers then that bumps us all done one more, but at the time of the deal it was Karabacek for a 3-4 step move in the draft. There should have been some expectation, based on the deals Shannon had already done or had yet to pull the trigger on, that we would stay up in the chase for 1st overall and would likely be finishing 2nd or 3rd overall. So, based on what we knew at the time, the deal was we get Karabacek for a 3-4 step move in the 2016 draft. Thats a pretty good deal actually. What it has turned out to be (today) is that we sit in 6th overall so our 2016 1st is now the 13th pick, and Bathurst's 2016 2nd is the 22nd pick ... so it is now Karabacek for a 9 step move in the draft. Bathusrt may climb, and we continue to fall, and so the deal could become Karabacek for an 18 step move at the draft. We gave that Bathurst 2nd away for Donaghey ... so we don't even have it to use. But that is another analysis. At the time, the Karabcek deal looked ok, but today it is brutal.

If Garland is playing hurt he's hiding it very well because his speed is fine he can still turn on a dime with or without the puck ... I haven't seen a single part of his game that has slowed

I'm told by a pretty good source that Munroe is actually the one that convinced Shannon that Bouchard was the goalie he wanted to work with. I'm not sure what his contract situation is but if that's true, he should be replaced.

Something doesn't seem right. He took a pretty big hit in Saint John as well, did he not? Perhaps he is playing injured.

If the current tumble continues and they lose in the 1st round, I can't see Rumble and Shannon being back, maybe Rumble but not Shannon. The goalie coach, I can't see him being back, his addition this year has been an epic fail, I don't think any of the boatload of goalies that have played this year were better than before. I think even the guy we had part time was better than him...I'm sure Cooling could do better...

To Moncton: Karabacek, Vaclav (1996-05-02) Rd_2, 2016 (Bat) To Baie-Comeau: Rd_1, 2016 So they basically only won 9 spots in the draft. And at the time of the trade, it was 4 spots. Nobody could know Moncton would struggle and come out of the top 3.
