I love discovering new leagues when looking up where our prospects our playing. Noah Massie's brother Dylan is suiting up for the Utah Outliers of the WSHL (Western States Hockey League). Some great team names in that league. www.eliteprospects.com/league_home.php?leagueid=101It's a real weak league overall to be honest. There's some skilled guys who move onto the NAHL or BCHL and such, but the talent level there isn't great. There's a lot of guys who aren't "Jr. A" caliber and the league itself is probably somewhat higher than Jr. B but lower than Jr. A here. I don't believe the league has ever produced a Div 1 recruit either (at least straight from WSHL to NCAA). If Dylan ever hoped to come to Moncton, that isn't the league to be playing in...

If they had to bring up any forwards I would guess that Hudson, Chris Murphy and Brodie MacArthur would be the candidates. Did they add Bohemier to the protected list? He could be a possibility too I suppose. Not sure what they would do if they had to bring up a defenceman. Bring back Bornstein? The only dmen drafted last June who played in the pre-season were Massie and Matthew Templeman (13th round pick). I expect Logan Johnston gets a look before Christmas. I don't really see the point, unless it's as a filler, he's 18 and has not shown a lot of upside in the Q. I see him as an AF guy.

The reality is that this is not year 1 of the rebuild ... it is year zero. Hopefully they play there cards right at Xmas and the draft and next year becomes year 1 ... you can't rush the process.

Yeah, this year's team is mostly a veteran team, 11 guys 19 or 20. That has to change after midseason. I'm concerned that... A-they won't trade deep enough(best 19/20's or only 2-3 of them). They need to move at least 4 of the 19/20's. B-they won't get good return on those trades(see #8 overall pick, McEwan trade and Donaghey trade). C-instead of getting picks and high upside young players, they add futures at the draft or guys that can step in for January. They desperately need to get some elite talent on the roster going forward, right now they have nobody who is or can be a star that I can see. That starts with the 2017 Q pick and 2017 Euro pick, but also hopefully other picks/prospects. Nobody will trade you the PO Josephs, Comtois Groulxs and Morands, so it has to be picks and high upside 16 year olds that could bloom next year.

When Hodge does his next list what are the chances that based solely on this weekend MacDonald is now a top 3 prospect? It's actually probably pretty reasonable when you consider the prospect Moncton has though. Also, if Moncton does trade away a few players like we all hope, who will replace them? Moncton doesn't have many prospects that aren't on the roster right now. They should bring up a player like Jacob Hudson full time at xmas. They sent him to Valley Jr A for a season of seasoning, and he ended up going to Midget. If the plan was to have him here for 2016-17 season they might as well bring him up now. He can skate at this level now. Blainsville did same thing at xmas with Shaun Miller last yr (He was captain of 1st place CH and called up at xmas) and he is having a pretty good yr this yr with 5-2-7 in 11 games played this yr.(I believe he was injured)

He was one of the best players on the ice for the Jr. A team when I saw him and decided to go back to Midget. I'd like to see him go up but at the same time, it could be just as beneficial to have him play the whole year in Midget, hopefully win some hardware and then come in ready for a full time role next year.
