well, i wouldn't want to be in the skates of #12 for the moose. that hit caused him a tryout for training camp. I believe it was Jordan Lepage, he'll be wearing #5 this season

Lane Cormier is the captain this season. Seems like an odd choice, but what do I know? Yeah, for sure. Using a guy who is a fringe player...strange. I was thinking one of Bower, Malatesta or Kv.Klima. When we drafted Cormier it was said then that he would be a future Captain of this team. This is just Shannon being able to make one of his outlandish predictions come true. To me it should be Will Bower ... shouldn't even be arguable. He is exactly the type of player that a Captain should be.

Cormier probably isn't even one of our 20 yo next season (until trades occur) ... behind Holwell, Bower, Klima and Klima.

Usually up to the coaches or the players. I agree that I would have went with Bower, but I don't really see what Shannon has to do with this.

I doubt very much that any of us has nearly enough knowledge or info to comment on whether Bower is a better candidate for captain than Cormier, or vice versa. As fans all we see is what happens on the ice during games ... we don't know who works harder in practice, who is the first and last guy to leave the rink each day, who is vocal in the room, who is the leader of the pack off the ice that the other guys naturally follow, who is respectful and humble vs. a cocky asshole, who is smart vs. dumb as a stump ... all factors that would go in to choosing a captain. I can't imagine many posters knowing whether Cormier, Bower, both, or neither would make a good captain.

I am not a fan of Cormier. I do not know how he is in the dressing room but based on his on ice performance, I would not have picked him as captain. At times last year he was a healthy scratch, albeit on a stronger team but still a healthy scratch at 18.
Last night for the home opener, he was on the ice on the 1st Moncton PP and he tried to put somebody through the boards in the offensive zone. He did calm down after that. I wonder if Rumble talked to him after that.

Our Captain is a guy that many thought might not make the team this year. I like Cormier and like what he brings but he isn't a Captain. When all of our players are back ... is he a regular checking line guy ? Is he quick enough to be one of four regular PK forwards.

I'm sure there is a lot we don't know, but still...
