So game #34 was played last night which means tonight is the 1st game of the second half of the season. This is where we stand
Titans -
GP: 34 W:18 L:9 OTL:5 SOL: 2 PTS: 43 PCT: 0.632 GF: 120 GA: 98
3rd best powerplay in the league at 24.7% and 3rd best penalty kill percentage at 82.4%
These numbers aren't terrible but consistency is the Titans issue, with the 3rd best power play and penalty kill we should arguably be a top 5 team in this league. Titans need some tinkering to do during the trade period, a top 6 forward, a top 4 defenseman, and maybe a goalie and this team has the chance to take the league.
If Batherson is infact the player we're acquiring for the top 6 that leaves us with a D to acquire. Let's say this is the scenario that's going to happen:
To Chicoutimi: Olivier Desroches
To Bathurst: 1st 2020
To Cape-Breton: 1st 2018 CHA 1st 2020 Logan Chisholm
To Bathurst: Drake Batherson
this leaves us with with a 2019 2nd, 2018 3rd, late picks, Ducharme?, Drolet, Rafuse, Malatesta?, LeCouffe, Meunier?, Rheaume, Tremblay. To potentially upgrade our defense and maybe a goalie. Is it possible? Of course with a guy like Ducharme being a top trade chip but all the fans would rather hold onto him including myself. So are we able to acquire a top 4 with a 2nd, 3rd, and a player? It's possible but I'm not sure the type of impact guy you're going to get for that price especially if a guy like Sylvestre is going to Moncton for a 1st and a 2nd.
The other thing that comes to mind is moving a guy like Theede to upgrade either goalie or defense, but that leaves us with another hole up front so we'd have to get a player coming back as well. If Galipeau or Montpetit are targets for their specific role they'd be good teams to trade with as we can potentially bring a top 6 forward back in the trade but do we even have the assets to do so? If Theede were to go to Chicoutimi we'd probably get Galipeau and have someone like Zach Lavigne coming in the package as well, so at what cost does it take to bring in a PPG 19 YO forward, and PPG 20 YO defenseman, not sure we can afford it. Then same situation if Val d'Or is our trade partner, Theede towards Montpetit and Cheezo/Lafrance, not sure once again if we have enough to complete deals like that.
Having said all this I'm not sure it's likely we're able to upgrade the 20 YO spot like I mentioned. It seems that maybe going out and getting a 19 YO top 4 D alongside Batherson is all we might be able to do but is it enough? Hopefully Sly has this all figured out.
Rubtsov-Morand-Maher Viel-Batherson-Theede Murphy-L'Italien-Crossman Rafuse-Malatesta-Ducharme
Holwell-Dobson Ivan-?trade MacIsaac-Francis Drolet
Pickard-Murdaca
is this a team that can win it all? Can it compete with Blainville, Halifax, Quebec, Rimouski, Drummondville, Victoriaville who are all looking to improve as well? I'm not sold on it just yet.
But my predictions for the second half are:
GP: 34 W: 22 L: 8 OTL: 2 SOL: 2 PTS: 49
that would gives us:
GP: 68 W: 40 L: 17 OTL: 7 SOL: 4 PTS: 91
Thoughts?

Not with the way our team was coached last night..wait for five goals before changing up goaltenders for one thing and not able to get this team with the talent they have , energized to start games consistently

With the assets remaining I think getting the D/G you may need is likely going to need a future.
2/3 probably isn't go to cut it for a player good enough.

So maybe a Morand at next Christmas as a future? WE all guessed it would come to that point simply because the market is crazy right now with 8+ teams buying....a very rare occurrence.

This was a post 15 days ago where you thought the Titan would invest heavily in Batherson and get a #3-4 D to compete with the rest of the Q. Instead the Titan acquired Balmas as a forward and decided to invest heavily in the best D in the Q. Also they unloaded an OA, something that was not talked about 15 days ago and traded Pickard, another unforeseen event at that time. Now I fully expect them to surprise me again. They probably will not get Batherson, but I fully expect them to trade for a top-6 forward. The likely candidate should be Hardie. This would translate into the following: Fitzpatrick/Murdaca This is a tendem that will do the job just as well as the past tandem: 2.50 and 0.905 eff% That should translate into: 75 goals against for a season total of 183. the D will be the best in the Q: Galipeau: 15 goals-25 assists: 40 points-------season total: 80 points with 30 goals Dobson: 5 goals-30 assists: 35 points----------season total: 71 points with 10 goals Holwell: 7 goals-20 assists: 27 points---------season total: 57 points with 15 goals Ivan: 2 goals-10 assists: 12 points------------season total: 21points with 4 goals MacIsaac: 4 goals-15 assists: 19 points--------season total: 39 points with 6 goals So 33 goals coming from the backend.... On forward: Viel: 20-15-35 points--------------------------season total: 65 points with 35 goals Morand: 15-25-40 points------------------------season total: 81 POINTS WITH 30 GOALS Maher: 12 goals-20 assists: 32 points----------season total: 61 points with 25 goals Rubtsov: 12 goals-25 assists: 37 points--------season t0otal: 62 points with 21 goals Balmas: 20 goals-15 assists: 35 points---------season total: 76 points with 45 goals Trade(Hardie): 10 goals-17 assists: 27 points--season total: 57 points with 22 goals L'Italien: 10 goals-10 assists: 20 points------season total: 42 points with 21 goals Murphy: 8 goals-12 assists: 20 points----------season total: 40 points with 16 goals Crossman: 10 goals -10 assists: 20 points------season total: 38 points with 20 goals Ducharme: 10 goals-10 assists: 20 points-------season total: 39 points with 19 goals Rafuse: 5 goals-5 assists: 10 points-----------season total: 19 points with 10 goals Lecouffe/Chisholm/Desroches/Drolet: 10 goals--- season total: 20 goals So 142 goals from the forwards in the 2nd half. Grand total: 2nd half-----------175 goals(5.8 per game) for a season total of: 310 goals Total of 100 points for the season and 1st overall.

I could see this team getting to 250 goals for on the season, maybe they get a little higher if they beat up on some weaker teams. I don’t see guys points per games improving drastically, if at all, in fact it’s more likely that the point totals for players decrease. There’s only so many goals that can be scored, while the additions are going to add some offence, there’s only so much that’s going to be realistically added.
