yeah Sens didn't need anything like this being leaked right now but c'mon.... you honestly think a bunch of guys getting together for a night out aren't gonna be a lil bit mouthy and rip one of their bosses hell i'd hate to have some of the conversations i've had with co workers leaked to my boss and i bet 99% of the rest of you would too That video seems to go a bit further, plus I wouldn't do it in public for such a discussion, but that's just me... you're a young pro athlete out for a night on the town (assumption i have no idea if /what they were actually being driven home from) with 6 of your teammates (nobody is like over 25-26.. couple of the guys are still teenagers) just shooting the shit with an uber driver who has no idea who the hell you are (they're in Arizona.. he even asks what team they're on).... you're not really out in public this shouldn't have been recorded and released.... nobody is perfect i've said way worse... when i heard about this before i watched it i expected way worse

It's not in public. It's in an Uber. It's a huge privacy violation. These guys live half their lives together on the road as a group so of course there's going to be some bitching about coaches/other players after a meal and a couple drinks. We're creating a world where we're starting to abuse the technology we're being given and creating an environment none of us should want to live in where you literally can't say anything about anyone without risking it becoming public. Recording that and putting it on youtube is a pretty low blow.

I feel for the players...but as a team how do you come back from this?
I feel like if I woke up today as that GM I need to get a hold of this situation and ship some of those guys out to prove a point that I need better leadership even if it means taking 70 cents on the dollar for a Duchene.
Privacy violation aside now that this is out there I don't think you can just sweep it under the rug in an already tense market. How you come out of this could define where your next 2-3 years go considering the amount of players involved and some of what was said.

Well since most of the players involved are either rookies or the guys you acquired by trading your franchise player after last summers drama... not really sure what you suggest he does I think Duchene is gone anyhow..... but you don't trade him now because of a video that shpould never have been released You could move Wideman I guess.... but his value is pretty limited the obvious move would be to fire Raymond lol

the obvious move would be to fire Raymond lol I think this is going to end with Boucher and his staff walking the plank at some point this season ... but this likely buys them some time as the team won't want to make it look like they are in panic mode and letting the players run the show. Rookies probably get a pass ... I can see a vet like Wideman being a scape goat and shipped out shortly ... Duchene will likely also end up getting moved before the deadline.

As much as those guys made themselves to look like clowns, it's a terrible look on the coaching staff, Boucher included. If one of your main assistants is a guy the players don't even listen to or respect, doesn't say a lot for him and for you in terms of hiring him, and letting him run your PP and PK. yeah Sens didn't need anything like this being leaked right now but c'mon.... you honestly think a bunch of guys getting together for a night out aren't gonna be a lil bit mouthy and rip one of their bosses hell i'd hate to have some of the conversations i've had with co workers leaked to my boss and i bet 99% of the rest of you would too That conversation absolutely happens in many workplaces under different scenarios ... but not often recorded and released so your boss can see it. But what can you fault them for as they are simply being honest about what they feel is going on with their team ? I didn't realize there were 7 guys in the vehicle (+ driver) until the end. I guess you can question their willingness to want to improve. They don't seem to care much about what they are dealing with. Why not ask the question ... "what should we do in that situation instead of what we did ?" when they are watching game video. They seem to just accept that "we are a shitty team and we have to accept that".

The cameras are in cabs and Ubers to protect the driver and they are always on or they are no good to them. The camera also faces forward to capture street events including collision involving that vehicle ... also a protection. Shouldn't have been released ? Well if this took place in Arizona while The Sens were visiting on a road trip, why wouldn't somebody release something about a team that has nothing to do with their community ? I can see if these were Coyote players in Phoenix, you might want to think twice about releasing it and undermining your own team. But its Ottawa so no problem releasing it if you are a Coyote fan. I don't really see these guys doing anything so bad. They are just talking honestly about what they perceive is a shitty situation ... and they all seemed to be in agreement. They weren't making a video about the conversation, they just weren't quite aware that they were being recorded. We are all being recorded when we get into a cab or bus ... just be aware of that. There are cameras everywhere.

Who would think that a discussion in a cab/uber would be taped and leaked? You are in the vehicle owned by the driver or the cab company. They record everything to protect the driver and the cab company. They own the recording ... the players do not own it. Its up to them to release it ... or not. Why release it ... to embarass the opponent I guess. It wasn't the Coyotes that released it was it ? Just the driver ?

Its no different than having a dashcam record you running through a red light ... and used as evidence against you. You have no expectation of privacy when you get into somebody else's car and go out in public. Everything is being recorded in the US. Is it low to release it ... maybe ... for sure if you are a Sens fan. But as a Leafs fan and Domi and Drouin and Price and a few other Habs got into a cab and were recorded saying something similar, and that video fell into your hands; would you release it to somebody ... show it to your friends ? Edit: Forgot who I was responding to.

I find that it is quite different because you are talking about elite athletes and usually elite coaches trying to get the best out of them. I know that on any given team 5-6 guys hate the coach and would prefer him gone, sometimes more when things are going sideways. Even in a personal setting, it's surprising that a group would be that unplugged from their coach(es). If you are talking about the average person making minimum wage or even $20 per hour, that's quite different, but these are elite people at their craft including(supposedly) the coaches.

Would I upload it to youtube? No. Would I show friends? Yes. There's a huge difference between the 2. Just because it's not technically illegal doesn't make it any less sleazy to do to someone.

I changed the scenario for you ... see above. This happened in the US ... sleazy is a regular occurence there. So you show a few friends and then word gets out that a video exists showing Ottawa Senator players talking in a cab. Rogers or TSN calls you and offers you $10,000 for a copy of the video.

I'm not going to the media with it no matter the team. And it would never get back to national media from the friends I show it to so no worries about TSN coming after me TMZ style for a drunken Carey Price rant. Word just doesn't get out that often or our sports news would be nothing but "look who said something today" kind of crap like this. There are way more connected people then us with videos and audio of people that never see the light of day because they don't go looking for the attention from it.

But they do in the US ... first to post something on social media is some great mantle to carry around I guess. Where this happened in the US I'm surprised that you are a surprised that this was released. Thinking of the videos and audio recordings that have come out over the last few years regarding athletes and celebrities. I'm thinking of the football player punching his girlfriend in the elevator ... Mel Gibson, David Hasselhoef, Alec Baldwin ... all for media sensationalism.
