Talk about batshit crazy! Wonder what led to a seemingly normal guy to go kill 14 or 15 other people? It is now 16 dead, plus the shooter, although that may have changed since I saw the last update. Anything we say here is just speculation. I have a feeling it is related to a divorce and disputes over property. He apparently killed his ex-wife and her boyfriend, and torched his own properties ... not sure which order that might have happened in. Once he did that he went on the run in a random killing spree that he assumed would end in his death. He also had to shut down his dental businesses due to COVID-19 and probably had bills to pay that was stressing him out and driving him over the edge. It was also said that he had a drinking problem. My question was, with the mock RCMP Cruiser and the RCMP uniform, was he pulling over vehicles and then just shooting unsuspecting people in their vehicles ? I have several colleagues that are RCMP officers and retired RCMP officers in NS and NB. My wife and I have a friend that is a female RCMP officer in NS and we worried all day until they released the name of Cst. Stevenson. We did not know her but deeply saddened all the same. I'm still worrying about who the male officer was that was shot and recovering.

So tragic. I believe this was the biggest mass shooting in Canadian history. None of the families will be able to give them the proper ceremony either, at least not any time soon.

Based on what was said on TV, I assumed there was a domestic element to it, the police said he did not know ~some~ of the folks killed. There had to be a lot of planning for him to have two police cars in the back yard plus an RCMP uniform.

There had to be a lot of planning for him to have two police cars in the back yard plus an RCMP uniform. Well if he has been restoring Police cars as a hobby and an interest, over say 5 yrs (no idea how long he has been doing it), I don't think it means he has been planning this for that long. Actually, the fact he has two restored cars sort of suggests that he wasn't planning this for that entire period ... he only needed one car for this. But he clearly did plan it for some time period. The COVID-19 angle is his businesses were shut down and he had no stable income, but I think he had a certain amount of wealth from his profession so I doubt he was broke. But he was divorced (or separated) and perhaps he was paying alimony, and that would be required to pay, even though his income was halted, until a Judge actually ordered his payment to be lowered, after evidence of a change in income was presented. So if that alimony payment is fairly big, that might push him over the edge coupled with everything else we are all dealing with. It doesn't take much for some people to snap when everything seems stacked up against them. Their response to that snapping can be very different from what you or I might do.

really don't feel comfortable speculating or reading others speculate about this.
So sad... such a senseless tragedy.... and so close to home. My condolences to all effected by this.

They are now saying 19 dead at 16 different crime scenes. Batshit crazy. I have a few friends that are RCMP so they know more than the media, one of the motives blows my mind. The fact that he killed his ex and her boyfriend is not out of the norm for these things but some other killings were random and a very strange motive.

What are some motives are you talking about?

With a lot of these shootings you keep hearing how the shooter was a nice guy and nobody would have suspected him, well this guy seems to have had run ins with everybody around him, ex-wife, daughter, neighbor, hunter who accidentally shot his bear cub...

So truth be told, I didn't hear that much about this until after it was all over.. I saw bits a pieces on Sunday morning about an RCMP presence in NS but wasn't sure why and didn't hear anything further until far later in the day on Sunday. Could you elaborate on the question regarding how the RCMP handled it? I assume you mean how he could move around for almost 12 hours undetected, no warning message, etc?

Exactly .....given today's technology.....no Cell Phone Alerts ?......Were the Halifax and Truro Police utilized properly to assist in a proper shutdown ?

On Good Friday I was sleeping in because there is no sense for me to be up due to quarantine and at approximately 11am I damned near shit myself when my phone went apeshit with the government sending out the advisory to stay the blazes home.
On Sunday morning I slept thru pretty much because I didn’t get any advisory at all which I damned well should have.
Had the nurse who was pregnant known that this asshole was impersonating an RCMP officer she very well may still be alive. Now I know they tweeted about it but let’s face it Twitter is shit with all the pissing matches that go on so not everyone is on there.
Edit - I am currently living in Truro.

There yah go .....Living in Truro you must be really pissed Man.....Twitter ....yah ..you got Dummies that jump on Twitter and Facebook to telling you the most useless stuff ....If the Province is the governing body over Sending out the Alert .....why didn't they send it out ? Apparently they knew "BEFORE" Midnight ....so this Loon was only a half hour into this Rampage . They claim they needed to be Green lighted by the RCMP ....but wouldn;t the Stupid Tweet alone justify putting out the Alert ?
