With the former redskins changing their name to the ever creative Washington Football Club... and news today that the Indians are announcing a name change next week for baseball.... it's only a matter of time before the Black Hawks succomb to the pressure and do the same.....

They could keep Hawks, keep their colour scheme and go for a logo similar to Boston College with a Hawk on it(obviously instead of an eagle).

So are the Braves tomahawk chop and KC Chiefs battle cry done?
Those were some of the most disrespectful to native culture.
I also believe the Florida Seminoles have a partnership with the tribes. This statement by an FSU liaison with the the tribe:
“Florida State University’s official use of the Seminole name is different from other names in that it does not perpetuate offensive racial stereotypes nor is it meant to diminish or trivialize any Native American or indigenous peoples. Instead, it is used with explicit tribal permission and involvement to honor and promote the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s unconquered history and spirit that persists to this day.”
The real issues is respect. The Black Hawk is a hero and they dont run around in costumes trying to be him. They dont make war crimes and demean the culture. Chicago has always been careful how they present that logo and in context.

Anyone involved in this needs to be fucking fired and banned from hockey. That goes for Q in FLA and Cheveldayoff. It’s weird that Vincent was disturbed by this, reported it but then still went to work for Q….even as they gave that predator a severance package, playoff bonus AND a day with the cup after they “fired”him. This allowed him to get another job in the sport and continue assaulting people. Only good thing I can say is at least this was made public. The Blackhawks handled that correctly. They released the report no matter how damning. The NFL could learn something from this.

Bowman "stepping down" seems pretty charitable.

Bergevin connected to this or was he just a Roving Scout back then ? My understanding is that Bergevin was absolved of any knowledge or involvement.

From what I just watched on Sportsnet .........it looks like Chicago put Winning the Stanley Cup above all else . It "sounds / looks" like Kevin Cheveldayoff and Joel Quenville were in attendance at a meeting where it all came out in the open what had been going on . Can the NHL do anything ? or do the Respective Owners of Winnipeg and Florida have to act on this themselves ?

Gary Bettman is apparently meeting with Quenneville and Cheveldayoff in the near future to gather more info on the findings from the report what a mess indeed Based on what has come out, it would seem that Quenneville had as much or more culpability than Bowman ... I would not be surprised to see him given a lengthy suspension, nor to see him removed as Panthers coach. Hard to say on Cheveldayoff - he was in a more junior role, but was nonetheless in the room. The _I assumed my boss was handling it" argument didn't fly for Bowman, so it may not for Cheveldayoff either ... My gut tells me Bettman drops the hammer on both ... I could see lengthy suspensions with their respective ownerships being pressured to fire for cause, I believe Bettman said somewhere last night that any involved would need to convince him of why they should merit any future position in the league, and I can see him doing the same to these two.

1 thing you learn after things like this come out is how full of shit people are willing to be when they think the truth may never come out.
Many of these people blatantly lied about their involvement in this over the last few months. All should resign with nothing but shame.
Disgusting what they not only let happen but fucking defended and swept under the rug based on the time of year....as if we're supposed to believe that if this happened in November they would have actually done anything about it.
