Cringeworthy comments from Toews tonight.
When everyone should be uniting around Beach after his brave interview we still have a group of people who are trying to make this about the success of the hockey team and defending/downplaying what happened because they won a Stanley Cup.
Of course Toews was treated great by Blackhawks, he's is/was their star player. He's missing the entire point.
Hockey culture just reeks of narcissism to me.

The fact that Quenneville was coaching last night was tone deaf, he should have been suspended indefinitely.

Toews says he knew the following training camp.
Kane says he knew...yesterday.
Quenneville who many state was in the meeting after the WCF...sticks to his story of not knowing.
What a pathetic sounding bunch. Teammates used slurs around him. One openly called him the "f" word on the ice. But nobody knew. Everyone quoted anonymously knew. But nobody knew. Unreal.

It's disgusting what hockey culture has created with this stuff. Teams putting out press releases with commitments to winning. How about a commitment to just be fucking decent.

Yeah those guys are not coming across as real brave. For a guy known as a good leader, Toews sounded like a corporate guy protecting the "brand". More of the same, old boys club protecting itself.

Agreed - that was a miss ... when Bettman made his statement the other day and announced that he would be meeting in person with Quenneville and Cheveldayoff as soon as possible, he should have announced that they were both on leave pending the results of that conversation. I can maybe see Cheveldayoff getting off on the grounds that he was the most junior person in the room and assumed his superiors were dealing with it, though he appears to have been less than forthcoming so far (at least with the media - perhaps he has been fully cooperative with investigators); but I can't see how Quenneville walks away clean.

Quenneville and Bowman should get a 1 year suspension, guys get that for cheating FFS. Those were in a position to do something and they allowed things to slip on the context of the team was winning.

Kevin Cheveldayoff has had his Meeting with Gary Bettman moved up To Today ....I don't think that bodes well for him ......The Media keeps saying he was The Junior Management Member in the Room at The Meeting where they decided to bury what happened until a later date . You gotta think he will be following the path of the Others .

I don't think I would go with Torts either for that reason ... but I doubt they go the season with Brunette. This is a team that is ready to win, and I don't think it is the right time for a rookie coach to cut his teeth - they need a veteran coach who knows how to guide a team to victory. Ideally, a coach who employs similar style and systems to Quenneville to minimize impact on the ice ... wonder if there are any guys around who would have worked under Quenneville over the years who might fit the description?

I still don't see them winning anything with the defense and goaltending they have, but expectations are high, so as you said, they will likely want a veteran coach with a similar style.
