nice pickup in getting Joseph tho Yeah that was a no brainer to me. Paul is getting the media hype but is Joseph all that worse? I don't think so.

Quite the head scratcher that Ottawa gives up a 3rd for Hamonic who was on waivers twice earlier this year... One of the worst deals i've ever seen at the deadline when you break it down. Bottom team. Adds $3 mil in salary through next season. Gives up a top 100 pick to do so. And the GM said he thought that would be a better 1 year deal than anything they would get in free agency. If they waited until June I predict Hamonic could have been had for nothing.

I think both teams will walk away from this one happy.. Not often that happens in trades.

sad to hear of the passing of Eugene Melnyk..... never a dull moment attached to him but he's the reason Ottawa got an NHL team again

I guess spewing a bunch of useless info isn't valuable to an NHL GM, who knew?

The whole hiring of McGuire seemed odd from the get-go ... my guess is that it was a move Melnyk decided to make without consulting his senior hockey people ... and with Melnyk gone, McGuire quickly found himself gone in the resulting power struggle.

Where are all my fellow Sens fans at? It's been a pretty exciting couple days.

Ottawa should get a nice bump in the standings next year. I think they have an outside chance at a playoff spot with the current roster...still not sold on their D and goaltending should be average. East is stacked, in the west they would possibly be a lock.

Couldn't they have waited a Year ? Seems like a lot of money for a guy at this stage. Especially on the heels of Norris and Tkachuk.

Couldn't they have waited a Year ? Playing with better linemates may have pushed him to be an 8 figure cap hit in 9 months time. If they project him as a top 2 C...there's nothing wrong with that deal. Assuming the cap raises in year 2 or 3 that ends up being a solid deal for a really good player. There's as much to lose by waiting as there is to gain.
