Sportsnet just reported that there has been 7 Bankruptcies filed since they moved there and almost as many Arena Plans Voted Down . Kansas City , Houston and Salt Lake City are considered the Front Runners if The Weasel is finally convinced that Enough is Enough . Geography is that what is Hurting Quebec's Chances ? Quebec is a small market(1/8 the size of Arizona or Houston), the Canadian dollar is only worth $0.75 plus that would not really grow the HRR.

That would seem to be incredibly dumb and short-sighted by the labor unions, unless their labor market for skilled trades is the polar opposite of most of the world - i.e. more work than there are skilled trades to get it done. While they may not have been guaranteed to work on this particular large project, someone would have been working on it, opening up other work to be done. Instead a multi-billion dollar project doesn't go forward, meaning less work to go around ... Unless Arizona happens to have a surplus of skilled workers with high unemployment rates? What am I missing?

Geography is one of the only reasons its even an option to anyone. Money is why it likely won't ever happen. There isn't a large enough corporate presence and it would also cut into 2 existing teams TV markets. Some of these American cities are 3-4x larger and don't have the Canadian dollar effecting how well they may be over time financially. We need to work on a 2nd GTA and stop pushing these small markets if we're serious about a revenue positive team in Canada having long term success

The New Arena Project was Voted Down ............The Weasel is about to come up with a New Plan .......Plan K , The first 10 all failed but Try Try Again Gary .....What a Joke . The sad part is, if you put a team like LV there with that arena and owner, the team would be doing great. Phoenix is a huge market with lots of transplanted northerners who would support hockey, but they have mostly had shitty teams, uncertain area situations and shitty owners...that wouldn't thrive anywhere. it's always ownership Atlanta 2nd version was killed by in fighting in ownership group. Most were not brought on board willingly and just wanted to run basketball team and arena. But they had fan support. Vancouver Grizzlies of NBA the same thing. The owner wanted out of pro sports and needed the cash and NBA was worth cashing out - they blamed losses on the dollar exchange rate from 1998-99 and eventually the Aquilli's purchased the Canucks. If the Canucks would have not been competitive they may also have been sold south. At one point every Canadian based NHL team has been dangled for sale to move south except for Toronto & Montreal. Arena deals saved some teams. It looks like the current AZ group had all eggs in this development. A 2 billion $ proposed entertainment district in Tempe that the locals didn't want enough...well only 40% or so wanted it. If that development isn't going ahead they have no interest in owning a team. It was all connected.

I seen on Twitter that I guess the Arena was going to be built in an area that's a toxic dump right now and they were going to use private money for it to be cleaned which wouldn't have affected tax payers and this could've actually been a good situation because I guess it has to be cleaned eventually and would cost tax payers like 50 million, so voting yes for the arena would've helped in that situation. (take with grain of salt as I don't know how reliable this source is).
rough situation overall.

Clayton Keller shared a sad face tweet earlier today as well...definitely a rough situation.
If players like Cooley and such decide not to sign, this could go very bad very quickly.

Obviously there won't be a resolution for next year, but they need something done for 24-25 or it will cripple the franchise. Not sure why they didn't stay in Glendale, nice spot to play, great neighborhood. There is talk of a joint project with the Suns for a new building downtown.

This the crazy piece....the propositions were not about asking for tax dollars for this...it was about changing zoning laws and other elements. But when people hear propositions around stadiums, they think it's tax dollars. The PACs running against this also muddy the airwaves so people thought it was about tax dollars. First off, shouldn't have gone to a vote. Secondly, when it did the Coyotes went cheap and figured they had the votes because it wasn't about tax dollars. They didn't campaign nor did they market what a Yes vote meant. Just a stupid situation and Gary has no one to blame but himself. This is the same ownership group that somehow missed payrolls. They went cheap and now they are currently stuck in a 5000 arena. What a joke.

The only way a Suns - Coyotes New Building goes ahead is if they can talk the Owner of the Suns in to Buying The Coyotes also . Mat Ishiba , the Owner of the Suns is worth about 7 Billion so he can more than afford the 40 Bucks the Coyotes are worth .
