In an ideal world, the cup should always be handed out in May. Right now it's June 8th to the 18th. Hard to keep fans interested with a lot of outdoor activities available. The season should start on Oct 1st and end by May 31st. With rookie camp and training camps, it's still only 3 months of off season.

Wonder if Benn gets a hearing for that play as well. It was flat out dirty and may have cost his team the series... I can't see either team climbing back at this point but who knows. Florida vs Vegas will be pretty wild. If it comes down to this matchup I think Florida has to be the favorite with Bobrovsky > Hill but Vegas is no slouch overall. Stats say otherwise: Hill GAA 1.96% SV .940% Bobrovsky GAA 2.21% SV .935% Hills stats are definitely a smaller sample size, not saying he's terrible or a wash or anything and he could still play good in the finals if they make it, I just think when it comes down to it Bobrovsky > Hill overall.

If Florida goes on to win it all, have to think Tkachuk is the easiest choice for the Conn Smythe trophy winner. Guy is playing unreal this season.
Wonder how Calgary fans are feeling watching him go on like this. I know their hands were forced but that trade is looking lop-sided now..
Florida's team is actually deeper than I first thought. Tkachuk, Bennett, Reinhart, Barkov, Verhaeghe, have all been pretty big adds. Montour, Ekblad, Forsling on the back end as well have been solid.

If LV wraps it up tonight....when would the SCF begin? I had seen a start date of June 8th but that seems a little extreme. Since I don't have horse in this years playoffs, I have been selfishly rooting for Vegas since I will be down there in the first week of June.

There is a rumor that Washington is looking to dump Mantha's contract and is willing to pay a team for it...I could see the Habs being interested for Washington's 2nd(40th OA) or maybe a bigger trade:
Edmundson(1 year at 3.5M) Anderson(4 years at 5.5M) Habs 2nd Rd(37th OA)
for
Mantha(1 year at 5.7M) Wash 1st(8th OA)
Edmundson fills a big need on the LH side. Anderson gives them what they wanted in Mantha, goal scoring winger with size and an edge. They reportedly want one last run with Ovechkin & Backstrom.

If Vegas wins tonight (which I think they will), the Cup should start Sunday or Monday. You have to keep the momentum going and taking a long break, you lose the momentum. And I agree, the Cup should end in May. When you are in late June, you have ice issues in almost all arenas not just the south.

Also starts to collides with the draft if the series goes 7 which means guys are being traded as they're celebrating in some cases. Give everything a 2-3 week cool down ahead of the draft.

That’s a terrible trade offer.

Anderson's contract probably wouldn't make sense for them unless they're huge fans of his style. They're not paying to dump Mantha to take on a bad contract with 4x the term.

That's usually why playoff teams want guys like that.

I don’t see how that value equates to 8th overall because Anderson/Edmundson don’t on their own, does a 2nd and moving on from Mantha get you there? Because I say no. I’m also not convinced that they’d have to pay a team to take on Mantha, I think on a 1 year deal that a team could be interested, especially if you retained some salary without having to give up 8th overall to do it.

The term and cap hit is just too high for Anderson. If he was a 4 million dollar player and only had 2 years left, I think there’s a huge market. But 4 years at 5.5 with 8 million and 7 million due to him in real money the next 2 years, I think makes it a hell of a lot harder to trade him.
