hmmm, makes me believe there will definitely be some sort of shaking up. Signing Schenn makes sense and would be shocked if it doesn't happen. As for the forwards though I'd have to double check who would reliably be those type of guys they could chase.

He got the title he was looking for. Toronto could only offer money in place of the title. So now he hires a GM to replace Hextall? Pridham? I can see Pridham getting a good raise to stay as an assistant for at least 1 more season. That will be interesting storyline to follow.

Where Dubas had more offensive guys on depth chart (Timmons, Sandin) ahead of the deadline I can see the new plan to be bigger and more physical with those #5/6/7 roles going forward. A Liljegren may no longer fit in the plans. Maybe he gets you a solid top 9 winger with some attitude.

Hopefully one of these rugged type guys they'd be looking for is a more talented type and not just a guy to stand around.

Patrick Roy is now ready to coach my LEAFS No thanks. Stabbing Sakic in the back won't endear him to GM's looking for a coach. I think he gets a shot somewhere but would have to be somebody who knows him well.

Took him 20 years to build a league champion in junior in spite of all the resources he had at his disposal for the first 10 years or so. In a league full of parity like the NHL his act wears thin on professionals.

Anybody think that Shane Doan leaving the Coyotes and Arizona for the AGM job in Toronto says that he sees the handwriting on the wall for the future of Hockey in the desert ?

I do think it's a good move overall for the Leafs and hopefully he can be a big part in keeping Matthews here.
