Pitlick
4 0-0-0
seeing why he was a waiver pickup now
Dadonov and Hoffman have been brutal
Dach just so so
but yes Monahan looks great and also gotta say Drouin is looking much better lately
very impressed with the young d core so far..... Guhle and Xhejaj are obvious fan favs but Harris is solid and Kovasevic looks pretty solid as well IMO
and Allen is doing everything you can ask for in a vet goalie behind a young d ... making the key stops and keeping his team in the game

At times it's a struggle to get out of their end. Xhekaj has overall been very good but he had a rough game last night. Guys like Edmundson who is practicing with the team would be a great add once he returns. I think Matheson will be another 5-6 weeks.

So in a sense he is playing his role, and when/if Matheson and Edmundson are both back healthy at the same time, and assuming no further injuries in the meantime, Wideman will be out of luck. I am not giving a free pass to Drouin ... to me he along with Hoffman and Dadonov are the three that need to go. They are unwilling or unable to play a two way game, and they bring limited offense. Their lazy play is a textbook example of what not to do as an NHL player- and to me, you don't want guys like that anywhere near your young players. At least guys like Evans, Dvorak, Gallagher, Armia do some of the little things right when they are not scoring. As for Pitlick - see my comment above on Wideman.

If you have young D in the NHL they need to play every night and regular minutes at that. Wideman is a veteran who's development won't be impacted if he plays 10 min or is a scratch. Matheson gives them a veteran who is very good at moving the puck and joining the rush. They don't really have that. Savard and Edmundson are more stay at home types who will stabilize the d-zone. Once Edmundson is healthy I think we will see Xhekaj down to Laval...Edmundson-Harris Savard-Guhle Kovacevic-Wideman/Schuenman. By the TDL I think Edmundson could move if they can get big value back, he has a low cap hit, a cup ring and only another year on his deal, good fit for a team like Edmonton TB or Fla.

In order to trade Hoffman or Dadonov they have to play. Dadonov is a UFA at year end so it's just for a half season. In terms of Drouin, I find he is playing well, the last few games he has been one of their best players, generating scoring chances for Dach and Anderson. last night he made a couple of very good backchecks, one to break up a 2 on 1 and another to get a loose puck off the goal line.

Seems like a good gamble, I don't see Hillis as an NHLer down the road, Beaudin was a 1st round pick and was on track to be a regular NHLer(In 20-21 6pts in 19 NHL games and 10pts in 9 AHL games) until last season when he had a shitty year(16pts in 66 AHL games & 0 points in 2 NHL games)...maybe this is a product of a dysfunctional Chicago organization. Very low risk move, plus young D sometimes need more time. He was Chicago's #2 prospect in February 2022 in THN. Edit: This likely send Trudeau back to the Q with Beaudin Barron Norlinder Leskinen Bowey Green plus Fairbrother who is out for the year. They may also get another D from Montreal once Edmundson is healthy(Schuenman was sent down today but likely just a paper transaction).

Drouin is looking better than he has the past 2 years.... would i presume it will continue ? of course not.... Dadonov does need to play higher in the lineup to see what he might be able to do and maybe turn into an asset at this point Hoffman has negative value.... when fully healthy i'd just put him in the pressbox for a stretch

and i'm not sure why Evans is even being discussed here.... he's playing 4th line center.... any offense you get out of that role is a bonus
i think if they can move Dvorak and slot Evans at number 3 he'll be fine in that role..... but for now he's buried where he is

Saying so, I personally would take him over Dvorak any day. I'm actually a fan of Evans.

If Marc Bergevin hadn't been obsessed with Getting a Center in the Draft and we had picked Brady Tkachuck instead then we wouldn't even be talking about him . Then we took the KK Offer Sheet Bonus and turned that into Christian Dvorak ? That whole KK Situation makes me ill .
