Quite the start to his Q career and still only 15 years old … could he be the next superstar that sells tickets in the Q?

Was disappointed that Darveau was in net when Victo came to Halifax - would have loved to see him play in person.
Sounds like he's on the path to the top 5/top 10 in 2025, and likely a stalwart in net for the national team as he moves up the age groups.

Is D’Aigle injured? Did they send him back? He has not even dressed since oct 27 vs CB where he played the full 60 mins which doesn’t really indicate an injury. Darveau has started 7 straight since then with Louchard as backup. He has great numbers in his limited starts aside from the blowout vs Sherbrooke.

Poor Kid got straight up spanked last night in the gold medal game. Hockey Canada is really getting blown away by programs like the USNTDP. The quality of prospects is really showing as U17s used to bring 4 Canada teams and now down to only 2. Both Teams were in the medal rounds but got absolutely dismantled by their opponents.

If Canada wanted to send one and really compete, they could. This isn’t about winning, it’s about getting as many guys into the program and familiarizing themselves with Hockey Canada. Now the USNTDP is always going to have an inherent advantage in the U17’s, they play together all year. That’s just the way it is and I don’t think Hockey Canada cares that they lost 11-3 in the Gold Medal game. That’s not what this event is about.

THe U17's for Cananda is 100% a development platform for the Program of Excellence, not only for the players, but the staff, trainers, HC scouts, everyone involved.
I was reading that both Sweden and Finland would like to send 2nd teams to the event.
Team U.S.A has a huge advantage at this event...but the playing field evens out at the World Juniors, which is the pinnacle of Canada's development model

Shields had a better chance to be there simply because he was part of the 4 team event earlier this summer. If you are not on the radar when there are 4 Teams invited, it's nearly impossible to get there when they reduce it to 3.
This group will move on to the H-G tournament , where they will reduce from 3 teams to 1, so once again if you were not on the 3..good luck getting on the 1.
The window opens slightly for the U18 World CHampionship in the spring, when HC only takes players who are not in the CHL play-offs, so there are a few off the radar kids that get selected for that event.
Similar to the WJ's, a player like Dumais remains on the outside looking in, maybe this is his year..but he has an uphill battle simply because he was not part of the POE when he was 17.
I could be way out in left field ..but from what I have seen , HC has their mind made up on players well before camps even start.

I could be way out in left field ..but from what I have seen , HC has their mind made up on players well before camps even start. They don’t care about the POE at the end of the day, if a kid is good enough he’s going to find a way onto the U18 or WJC teams. Dumais is borderline, he wouldn’t be on my team but that’s not a knock on him. There’s just a shit load of really good players and a lot of really good scorers, you have to fill a role and scorer is usually easily filled by HC. If he’s not there this year, I suspect he will be next year. Kids that aren’t on the radar at 16, make the team all the time though but it’s because they force the issue with their play and development. The reason it seems like the U17 teams are a prerequisite to the other teams is because let’s face it, odds are when you select 60 elite kids at 16 for those teams by the time they’re 18/19, you’re still able to find 20+ of the best kids from that original pool to build your U20 team. The 98 birth year is the first group that went to the 3 teams and their first year after aging out from U18 was 2016/17, which would make them the basis for the WJC team. There’s been 6 World Juniors including 2016/17 and there’s been 24 kids selected to those WJC teams that didn’t play for Canada at the U17’s. So basically 4 per year on average or almost 20% of the selected roster on any given year wasn’t selected to the U17… that’s pretty impressive when you consider there’s roughly 120 kids who’ve gone through the U17 who could be picked to that 23-25 man U20 roster at 18/19.

How many of the 4-5 per ended up on the roster due to injury and how many were goalies? By no means am I saying that a player can't turn a few heads and crack a roster later on, but the odds are not in your favor.
Masse is good example..missed the U17's , could find him self on the U18 roster. Etienne Morin is another, I would not rule out a spot on a WJ roster at some point, but had no chance at the H-G due to injury.

A lot of the guys, don’t look like they missed many games due to injury but it’s hard to go back 6-7-8 years and find their U-17 injury history and whether they weren’t there because of one. A lot of the guys when looking, we’re simply late bloomers though. They were never going to be on Hockey Canada’s radar for the U17 because they weren’t highly touted coming into Jr.
