I’m not a fan personally but that’s my opinion. Maybe it’s the logo throwing me off.
But I’m also a Gen Z so I wasn’t around for that era of Moose Country. Lol

Who had 18 year old Cataford leading the league in scoring almost half way through the year? He has really stepped up lately. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. nice to see him be able to prove he can play even with missing guys like Dumais and Vidicek for a bit. He's going to be the biggest trade target for next season I'd imagine lol.

Well Trade deadline has come and passed. Wavier wire is now closed and our final roster is set. One little problem, the reigning league MVP is rumoured to be having season ending surgery. He is a big time X-factor and a major blow to this teams playoff hopes. Let’s put a pin in that for now and look at what we do have in place.
Let’s start with the what is the only X-factor this team has left. Mathis Rousseau is now the key to this team going far. If he goes down, well we’ve all seen what Milner can do. Sure he has fond some confidence but he still finds away not to make the save he has too. Last year this team doesn’t make it past the 3rd round with out Rousseau. If Halifax somehow won last year he would have been the playoff MVP. Sure an argument could be had for Lawrence but I think Rousseau was the true MVP of this team in the playoffs last year. He is capable of caring this team for a lot of the run. The problem isn’t going to be keeping the puck out but maybe getting the puck in.
Let’s now look at the defence. Really it’s a good group that is a year older now. The year older should be the key. They did well all last years playoff but Quebec was able to expose a 16yo old Phillips. A year under his belt should prove to help prevent that this time around. I feel that’s really all that can be said of this defensive core.
Now to the forward group. It’s no secret this is the area that Cam had to strengthen. He arguably had the best line in the entire league, maybe the CHL. The problem this team had was the rest of the forward group only accounted for 39% the teams goals. If they plan on winning in the playoffs that needed to change. Cam brought in 4 new forwards. One in MacPhee is just a role guy but the other 3 should bring the secondary scoring that is much needed. Reynolds was the first player Cam brought in and is in the top 10 of league scoring. Next was the two Shawinigan guys who both should plug into the teams top 6. Ideally these 3 guys would be the 2nd line but with the Dumais news this now becomes a little merky. I do think know what line combo Jim might put together but I do feel the goal totals will increase.
Here’s my guess of the lines going forward.
Cataford/ Vidicek/ Sprynar Kilfoil/ Reynolds/ Denis L.MacPhee/ Todd/ B.MacPhee Moser/ Fontaine/ Welsh
These will change once Levesque and Crosby come back to the lineup. I think Crosby would bounce Kilfoil. I can see Kilfoil centring the 4th line with Levesque on the LW and Fontaine or Moser flipping in and out on the RW.

Wow, no wonder the guy barely smiled lol. Double hip surgery and a sports hernia? Yikes. Absolutely incredible that he was able to do what he did, then.
Huge loss for the Moose. I hope others can step up and help generate the offense that he was so easily able to do. We don't really know what kind of a team we have right now with the new faces and players returning from long injuries. Complete crapshoot at this point.

Logan Crosby ranked 65th among North American Skaters, pretty solid for someone who hasn’t played much this season.

I think a lot of people here and around the league underestimate the impact his absence has had on this team. It’s the late birthday that throws a lot of people off. He was literally on a pt/per game pace before his injuries. Last season was a weird one for him because he was always playing minimal minutes and got the third line call up here and there, Logan’s going to be sweet next season I’m sure. Elliot Desnoyers was getting fourth and third line minutes with Moncton at 16, 17. And he turned out really well. I expect Peitzsche to have a big year in his draft year next season too, and there might be some slight regret if he does start looking really good. But obviously got to see how this years playoffs go, love the Denis and Sprynar acquisions anyways.

Im really looking forward to the first time we can see this team with everyone back (minus Dumais) and get a better idea of where they are. It’s been months since we’ve seen Levesque and Crosby, you’ve gotta think their production isn’t gonna be what it was at the start of the year.
I still don’t see how anyone beats Drummondville. I’ve been watching all their games since late December and they’ve looked absolutely unbeatable, no matter who is in net. And they were still missing their best defensemen.

Post from Saltwires John MacNeil:
After scoring 13 goals and 34 points in 28 games with @trurobearcats, Liam Welsh is back in the Q with his hometown @hfxmooseheads for the rest of this season. “I feel Liam’s time with us really helped his confidence and his game,” said Bearcats GM Jamie Barbour.

Logan Crosby ranked 65th among North American Skaters, pretty solid for someone who hasn’t played much this season. I think a lot of people here and around the league underestimate the impact his absence has had on this team. I really don’t think anyone underestimates him missing. Obviously the biggest missing piece is Dumais but Crosby was on the verge of his best season yet. If he was healthy right now he’s in the top 6 it’s just a matter of who you put him with. Do they put him with Denis and Reynolds or do you put him with Vidicek and Cataford? The past 2 training camps he has played with Cataford a bit and they seemed to click when they’re together. I think he’d be playing on the first one with Cataford and Vidicek. Which also means they don’t have to expose Kilfoil as much as they have. That’s the one thing that I look at this roster and go they need one more guy up front. I think Crosby is that guy. Yes I’d rather Dumais everyone would but Crosby is a player who can make this top 6 very strong. Right now Kilfoil just isn’t ready to be that guy. Don’t get me wrong I like Kilfoil and think he’s going to be a great Q player but he’s just a 16yo kid who is being exposed a little like Phillips was in the finals last year. He’d be better off playing on the 3rd line. I have to change the topic back to the original post. Crosby is rated 65 which is great from him but where’s Phillips? How isn’t he rated? What am I missing with him? He’s good at everything but not great. He’s hardly ever out of position. He was a 16yo old who took a regular shift on the team who came 2nd in a league. He is an excellent skater, good passer, and a has an ok shot. The only knock is he’s 5’11 but is that really that bad of a size now a days?

Not sure the chatter on Crosby it’s such a small sample size this years stats. We really don’t know what he brings he has been off for 4 months pretty much the whole season and he is still not back yet . I would like to see him play some games first before assessing him .

This season has been passing by so fast, can’t believe there’s only 13 home games left.
