If I were to map out what the rest of the season should look like, 14 games, it would look nothing like the first 54...the vets had 54 games to figure it out, time's up boys. The audition for next season needs to start now. For who, though? You can only realistically call it an audition for certain players. Biggar, Schmitt, Lavoie, and Daigle certainly aren't viewing it as any audition. If you break it down you basically have a few 19yr olds auditioning to play in the league next year. The problem here is the audition should be for the management who have put this team on the ice. The coaching staff who have led a disappointing season. Why are we still holding players accountable for things the adults off the ice are doing? Yeah this really isn’t on the players, they’ve been put in this position by more incompetent management. I’ve said it right from the day Sly was hired, he isn’t the guy to run a rebuild. The only thing that’s changed for me, is that I’m not actually sure the ownership would let him do a proper rebuild if he wanted too. It seems they still want to short cut the process, it won’t work just like it hasn’t numerous times before. The players brought in are going to be held to an unfair standard given the cost and position of the team when those trades were made but this is all on upper management/ownership IMO. I don’t know how anyone can look at the trades that have been made and conclude they’re in a better position today then they were before the draft but the people running the organization would want you to believe they are. That’s the fundamental flaw in this whole thing, the people in charge don’t know what they’re doing but they still get the chance to do it and it doesn’t matter who you bring in, the results are always the same so maybe instead of bringing in more people, you just change your approach and do it the proper way.

2023/2024
Houde - Squires - Newcombe Patterson - Boutin? - Shields ? - Roy - Davis? ? -? -?
Biggar - Lavoie Daigle - Schmitt Waugh - Desjardin
Ruccia ?
They do have some nice pieces but next year has to be a big time step forward ( top 8-10 team) Adding a high-end Forward to compliment the top 6 is a Must - I do like the D core next year a lot but will need to add some scoring to help out houde/squires/newcombe who should be a Very good trio

Draft 2 High End European Forwards and Sly will add a couple of other Pieces but I really think he needs to swing for the Fences on the Euros .

Great looking D core, it's a shame we can't find a spot for Connor Shortall, but with what we paid for Biggar, he will get the OA job on the backend.
I don't see Squire as Center, but top line for sure.
That roster almost looks like year 1 of a rebuild, what year are we in again?

Unless he goes with 2 OA's back there and peddles one of Desjardins or Waugh ?

Hmmm, don't see that happening, you need Waugh/Desjardins to be real good as 17's and be ready for a push at 18.

Huchette would be the only guy I see coming over up front that can be a legit top-line guy - which would fill a much needed hole on that top line. I do agree Squires is best fit to be on the wing

The Eagles need to stop having (?) to bring in OA's for very marginal improvement! At one time this organization developed their own OA leadership.
