looks like everybody is writing off the RS this year, I think with healthier pitching, they will challenge for the top spot. Jansen Martin and Kluber add depth plus a healthy Sale(fingers crossed). A kid like Bello has a chance to make a big impact also as well as Whitlock as a SP.

They've been playing well for the most part. They just need to tighten up things defensively and stop giving up near 10 runs a game.

offense is on fire
defense is attrocious especially Kike at short
pitching is very hit or miss but nice to see Sale get a couple quality starts
time to DFA KLuber
at least they are fun to watch..... absolutely love watching Yoshida hit

Much better than having 3-4 home run hitters trying to carry the team. They are a bit too LH heavy right now, Duvall and Story coming back should help that. I agree that the starters need to be better, they have shown flashes. Klyber has given up 3 runs or less the last 3 starts. sale has had 4 good starts and 3 bad ones. Bello has ++ stuff just needs better location.

Ed Hand @edhand89 ยท 9m Xander Bogaerts first 18 games this season- 362/.430/.580
Xander Bogaerts second 19 games this season- .171/.301/.286
Currently slashing .266/.364/.432, 6 HR, 15 RBI, 1.2 WAR
I don't dislike the player, would gladly take him back, but that contract is awful.

All things considered, a pretty sweet start to the season at 24-20...Sale and Paxton starting late, Whitlock Duvall and Story on the DL.
Biggest revelations...Duran is a different player without the uppercut swing. Verdugo looks much more mature, better shape, helps him on offense and defense. Yoshi is the real deal. Crawford and Winck fit much better in the pen. Paxton(only one start) looked like in his prime years at 96-98 MPH.
A wild card spot is there for the taking with a bit more consistency from the starters. Duvall and Story will add depth and balance to a LH heavy lineup.

so is Bloom gonna reward his club for their overacheiving season or sit on his hands again? what a frustrating GM he is I can see them making minor adds, but it makes no sense to add big based on who they have to pass and beat right now. The big adds will be Story McGuire Sale Whitlock and Houck on their way back. Why do you find him frustrating? He is trying to build for the long run instead of shortcuts.

McGuire is not a big add Story if he's healthy will be Sale will be but i cant count on him being healthy Whitlock and Houck won't be back til near the end of the month they needed to add a starter.... thats why i find it frustrating as everyone else has added the arms already and we keep throwing out bullpen openers in a playoff race baseball prospects rarely turn out..... i want baseball players

I'd rather have them throw 5 innings over guys that have 5+ ERAs as starters. I think where they are at, trading a package for a young SP with control from a team like Seattle or Miami(who have depth at SP) make a lot of sense. The Rs can move an OF(Verdugo) plus an IF prospect not named Mayer.
