Nice to see the ever humble Moose fans posing for pictures outside the rink with a Broom.

Didn't play a perfect streak but offered solid opposition + overall effort in 3 of 4 games
Don't forget that Halifax was in the 4 big league clubs
Proud of you boys despite what everyone on this forum may say... It's not just the players who lost.

Tough way to lose in a 1 goal game going 0 for 4 on the Power Play while giving up the winning goal while on a 2 man power play advantage! Much better discipline tonight though, only giving up 1 power play opportunity to Halifax.
The Eagles played much better than a 4 game sweep would suggest!

Eagles did themselves proud. Fun to have the battle of Nova Scotia again. Next year the Eagles should be a lot better and there will be some very good games between these two teams.
Ivan Ivan went from being a meme in the world jrs to being quite the import pick for you guys. He was fantastic this series. Hit the post in the 3rd period of tonight's game and almost single-handedly won game two.
Many of you folks have been fans a long time and deserve a franchise with direction. I think the next two years will be good for the Eagles. All the best.

Mooseheads fan here (I come in peace).
The Eagles gave the Moose fits in this series, despite being swept. They aren't ready to compete at that level yet, but this was a learning experience for them. They have pieces they can build with; need to add a few more. When the Mooseheads and Eagles are good at the same time (a rarity since the Eagles came into existence; the Mooseheads have had down years too), the rivalry between these two is one of the best. It'd be great to see that going again.
I wish the Eagles' 20 year olds the best in their futures.

I'm sure alot of people here appreciate the kind words from the Halifax fans who posted, as do I. Good sports.
Let's now look at some facts:
Eagles opened the scoring in games 2 and 3, while also holding a 3 goal lead in game 2.
Eagles went a combined 1/14 on the powerplay in this 4 game series, and gave up an embarrassing 2 on 1 GWG to lose their final game of the year (while on a 5 on 3 PP)
Eagles have not won a playoff game since 7th April, 2019.
The fact of the matter is, this ownership/management team has these delusions of grandeur of hosting a Memorial Cup, all the while they can't even manage to win one game in the playoffs in the last 3 seasons. If it weren't for buying heavily and trading away future draft picks, and a former 2022 first rounder this season, we very well might have missed the playoffs for a third straight season.
What am I missing here? This group begs and pleads for fan support yet half asses a team together and expects 3500-4000 people just to beat the doors down trying to watch this? I feel for everyone who has any sort of emotional investment tied up in going to the games, and as much as I like going and cheering the team on, it seems like lately all were left with at the end of the year is a swift kick in the balls and a "it'll be different next year".

I've heard repeatedly that the Eagles had the 5th best winning percentage in the 2nd half and I decided to take a closer look at the 2nd half. I don't know if that is supposed to be in their division or the league.
They did have a winning record going 18 and 16 but only 4 of those wins were against teams with a winning record while they had 11 losses against winning record teams.
Now against teams with losing records in 19 games they were able to win 14 games while having 5 losses.
They won 73.6% of their games against losing teams and only 26.6% against winning teams. I don't think it was as big a deal as they tried to portray it. Luckily 55.8% of their 2nd half games were against losing teams!

They didn't fool anyone paying attention to who they were playing and how they were playing. The 8 game home winning streak was all against the 3 divisional teams in rebuilds...after xmas. But even after buying, winning those games we were supposed to...the whole season came down to a game in Moncton that we knew we had to win coming off a big win in Halifax. We win...we play Moncton. A divisional playoff opponent and one that we should push to a deep series and possible even come out ahead. We go into Moncton and lose 9-2. And play a contender in round 1. We made our own bed. This was always going to be a team not ready to compete against a the upper tier. The lack of home grown veterans and overagers was the clearest sign of that.

The Memorial Cup stuff might not be a complete pipe dream but it is for 2025. Longer term...2028 or 2031...who knows. But it seems like the government money is being put into place to expand C200 to something larger for some other sports so maybe with a few more million and new concession areas, sound systems, press box, etc we can pull it off. Somehow we're completely missing the boat on a 5,000 seat arena here. Little to no concerts or large events. We need to find some ways to fix that and it sounds positive that some good things are happening behind the scenes. Our economy is no longer suffering like it was. We literally have a housing crisis and a population growing for the first time in a long time. Yet our arena is mostly empty outside of hockey. We can be doing better there. I was shocked at last nights attendance but it should have been an eye opener to what the potential is here if its done properly. And how not developing chemistry and constantly making a lot of trades probably doesn't help you develop a great culture over time. Our fans want to watch a young core grow together and win together but not at the cost of a 4 year rebuild. I find the emotional investment tough to give when I see so many flaws. There's a lot of great things to be excited about. But I still need to see how this off season unfolds and hopefully see this transition into our moves being more targeted to fill needs vs trying to win the trophy for the team making the most roster moves while trying to preach about looking for hard working kids with good character. The cost is still the #1 factor driving most away. $75 after 2 adult tickets, a concession trip, and even splits. It has to be a competitive product to justify that cost. In a league where the entertainment factor has changed so drastically it really does come down to being competitive. I don't know how parents with 2+ children do it regularly.

Despite the sweep, you guys played a hell of a lot better than I expected. There are definitely foundation pieces in place. It's how you surround those guys next year and the year after.
Squires, Shields, Lavoie, Daigle, Houde...Newcombe and Schmitt should be around for 2 more years. Even guys like Patterson and Fullerton. They'll always be depth guys, but you need players like that around. Ruccia has been inconsistent in his 3 years, but seemed to have turned a bit of corner. He needs to take a big leap next year. But if he does, and if the rumours from xmas are true that some vets are coming in as futures, you guys should have a really good year.
But it seems like CB has been at this point a lot over the last 10-15yrs, but can never finish the job and ice a true contender. Front offices always fumble the bag, make dumb trades and next thing you know, the core is gone, you never won anything, you no picks left on and on lol. Hopefully things are different this time around. Big off-season for the Eagles, but you guys should feel good about the team overall.

In a league where the entertainment factor has changed so drastically it really does come down to being competitive. I don't know how parents with 2+ children do it regularly. Just want to echo Jack's point, to anyone reading from Eagles management, cost is the #1 reason I don't go to many games anymore. The price point jumps from when I was a "youth" to an "adult" was pretty extreme and it's only increasing every year. I'd consider myself someone who's firmly "middle class" as well, these games have been priced out to families who are on unemployment, minimum wage, etc. I was in for almost $100 taking my girlfriend to Tuesdays game. I have absolutely no clue if the Eagles have anyone doing analysis on price elasticity of demand but I'd recommend starting there. On to the game... I just never felt like this Eagles team had any chemistry at all, closer to a bunch of good/decent players with a junior star or two sprinkled in who largely carried games with 3/4 point nights. Hopefully Lavoie flourishes in to the #1 defenseman he was projected to be, else we're in for some more tough sledding in then next few years.

The Truest thing you spoke about in this Post is that The Front Office in the past always seem to Fumble the Ball at the Goal Line . However , two things come to mind .... 1- Who knows how 2020 would have ended ...We had a Power House Team in Place . 2- We now have a GM in place who has Built Several Contenders over the Years and just a few Years ago built a Memorial Cup Champion in Bathurst . Now I never included The President or The Head Coach in that assessment as I think they have done things that leave you shaking your Head . Who is coming in to finish off the Langois Deal ? What is left to be finished with the Dessereux Deal ? Who will be the 20's ? Possibly 2 New Euros ? Is Ruccia the Guy going Forward ? What 17 year Old Prospects join the fold Next Season ? Who are they targeting in the Q Draft ? All things that will be addressed in the next little while .
