Anybody surprised that the #8 Overall Pick is up for Grabs ? Anybody got a Gut Feeling that Courtourier swings for the fences at the Q Draft ? Looking at my own projected draft order, I think it's a good option to try to trade that 8th overall pick because of where the two players with NCAA aspirations (Kilfoil and Morin) are ranked (8th and 9th). Like anybody else, I'm just trying to make some sense out of what the thinking is - but for the Eagles - to draft 8th - you're looking at taking the 10th best player or lower (IMO). A good trade partner might be the Wildcats with rumours that Kilfoil might be in their plans - plus Wheeler also right there in the rankings (7th on my list - with Kilfoil 8th). The Wildcats have a top 5 pick according to the lottery (can't drop below 4th) - but they aren't going to use a top 4 pick on Wheeler or Kilfoil (IMO). I can't see the Eagles trying to move up in the draft - but would the Wildcats have somebody at centre who might interest the Eagles for that 8th pick? I mean - the Eagles might be able to get a good player, a pick and a top prospect - or maybe even a Filion (04) in goal as part of a return. Both Wildcats' goalies are 2004 - Filion and Steinman. Another trade partner might be the Mooseheads with Peter Simon possibly looking to get into the 1st round and maybe pull off a shocker of his own by landing a Kilfoil or a Morin? It's a strong draft (IMO) - but it has the makings of a lot of drama. Even though its live this year - I hope they continue to cover the first few rounds locally on Eastlink. I've been doing a bit of draft stuff if anybody cares - about 180 players ranked and profiled - very amateur coverage on my part and really just getting the names out there. No need to even log on to the MHL Network for the draft info. While posting here on the Eagles' board - I do like seeing Lindsay MacIntosh here on the forum. For somebody to interact on a message forum at the risk of being attacked - she's obviously trying to listen to the people. She probably has her fingers crossed looking for input on what might work. I think making all tickets for U12 children in the $5.00 range (accompanied by an adult) and all tickets for 65 plus capped at $15.00 (RS and PO) would be a start. I understand wanting to target the upper middle class - but the best fans to me have always been the ones who struggle to attend games - but there is nowhere else they would rather be. That's all I was for 50 years - somebody who had to scrape and save and plan to go to the games. I'm not ashamed of that. I had a family to support first. Get those people into the upper bowl for $15.00 and a chance to have a beer with their friends. It's the highlight of their week. Don't shut them out. JMO. The idea of trading up is definitely interesting. I've just assumed that pick goes for immediate help but to look at surrounding our 2022 draft with a nice piece or 2 from this one sounds a lot more like a team trying to do it right. Love the suggestions, too. We're never all going to agree with everything but the discussion and information no doubt helps the teams at least drive some internal discussions about how to think outside the box a bit. Utilizing a usually empty upper bowl with some promotions is a no doubt home run for me...especially for those weeknight games throughout the year that draw no huge walk ups.

I’m surprised no one’s bring up what might be coming from Quebec. Maybe one of the 20’s that’s needed is coming from there, or maybe a Euro. Vsevolod would be a huge get then hit a home run with the pick this team becomes a contender pretty quickly. Then you can add a 20yo Center like a Cam MacDonald like was mentioned and this team is very interesting.

Something around Komarov or Rousseau is what looks the most intriguing.

I would take this with a grain of salt but I’m hearing from a pretty good source Goyens is being fired.

If a GM was all in on his coach and there was a plan to bring him back, I think that would have been made very clear in the article last week with J. Fraser. Saying that he has not had a chance to talk to his staff about plans for next season tells me that the future is far from certain. I am betting he is gonzo by the first week of May.

That is odd isn't it - usually teams want a jump on getting someone new and setting a direction right away....look at NHL they made the move to release coach/GM the day the season ends so they have time to install someone new and get ready for draft etc... (and get a jump on everyone else...the only advantage of season ending early!) Maybe they need to find someone better before they move on. The only thing that would dictate that is the person you "want" is still finishing their season wherever they are. But then its in doubt...like they are not both feet in on a change yet. Give them a week and 85% of candidates will be available to talk by then.

If you ever attended any Town Hall Meetings you will quickly remember that Goyens actually boarded at Courtorier's Home in Howie Centre ......so any notion that he never had a chance to talk to his Staff before they left Town is ridiculous . He lived with his Boss .......enough said .

All indications is that the Eagles should end up with 2 First round picks, the other one coming from CHI now that will be filing for compensation on the Boisvert pick...my guess is that first rounder will be coming to Cape as well. With that said, I agree, little value in keeping the 8th and it will be a decent pick. I don't see Moncton being a trade partner, Filion would be a down grade on Ruccia and the only C I see as value would be Lounsbury and he is likely untouchable. Great work on the draft the profiles, I enjoy reading them. it's the #16 for Veilleux

So, 2023 should look like this...
1 - 8th - Cap 1 - 16th - CHI (compensation) 2 - 24th - SJ 2 - 31st - CHI 4 - 74th - QUE 5 - 87th - ROU 6 - 97th - CHA 6 - 100th - CAP 7 - 118th - CAP 8 - 136th - CAP 8 - 137th - BAT 9 - 154th - CAP 11 -190th - CAP 13 -226th - CAP 14 -244th - CAP

So you think Lavoie was the right pick over Daigle ? The GM doesn't like to Trade ..........he loves to Trade and has already said that the #8 Pick is out there as Currency . The point you make about Bottom Feeding for two years , then one good year , followed by hopefully a Great Year ..........I agree with totally....I don't like the Trade Off . Organizations like Rouyun Noranda and Rimouski seem to be competitive all the time and even the Quebec's and Halifax's never seem to stay down as long as we do , they rebound much quicker .

Assuming this won’t be announced until Gatineau is eliminated but hearing Darren Rumble will be the Eagles new head coach. I do find it strange tho Goyens isn’t fired yet with his replacement possibly already picked.
