Assuming this won’t be announced until Gatineau is eliminated but hearing Darren Rumble will be the Eagles new head coach. I do find it strange tho Goyens isn’t fired yet with his replacement possibly already picked. Gatineau is out, exactly 1 month until the draft. Can we expect a Rumble announcement within the next week? Or maybe Goyens is coming back. The Eagles season has been over for some time now , you would think at least one of the 2 steps would have been completed by now.

Exit interviews for Gatineau are tomorrow so we might get some news regarding Gatineau personnel then.

I would say that 23rd has some potential of being an impact player, 83rd in the same draft year, not so sure. With approx 36 Euro's playing in the Q each season spread over 3 birth years, the 2nd spot will likely come via trade....just my guess.

According to Jeremy Fraser the Eagles are leaning towards a forward with their 1st Import Pick, not much of a surprise but confirms what most of us were expecting.

Jim Midgely was let go by NY Rangers yesterday, he could be another option for eagles if a coaching change was made .

Interesting name. If Kevin Dickie remains part of the leadership group with the Eagles, he would have first hand knowledge of Midgely from his days at Acadia. Several years with the Moose, so he would be very familiar with the league. Limited head coach experience, but a pretty deep resume of hockey.

With 2 NS players cracking the top 10 on the final Q CSR list, one being a F and the other a D, does Cape hold on to their pick and select Chandler or Conrad at #8? I know Sly said the pick is on the market, but maybe a big NS born forward like Chandler is the way to go.

sly is trading draft picks for present Q players and are not draft friendly and take a look at Sherbrooke they are looking for drafts, so maybe a trading partner ,fast track team for 2024 /2025

He is rumored to be going to Drummondville

Spend Some Money and bring in a good one . Even big markets are having trouble bringing over stars because their hands are so tied financially. Get a kid with potential who wants to report. The idea of throwing big money at a player and buying out a European/Russian contract basically died a decade ago.

Agree totally, Cape should be able to land a 17 year old impact Euro at #23 without selling the farm, assuming there is some scouting and relationship development happening on the other side of the pond.
Euro #2 , lots of rumors about Andrei Loshko heading east and although Sly and YJ love to dance, I am not sure there is value in a 1 year rental for the price it would take to bring him to Cape.

You nailed the 2 things that went against our last few European picks. Little scouting done. No relationship was ever created ahead of the pick. Due to how the hockey world works and it being so small with so many close relationships between agents and management team members you should already have an idea of the first 20-25 picks and who lines up with your selection and have some sort of attempt to have a conversation with a few of those kids to try and figure out their level of interest. It's better to have a kid report who is a complete bust then just waste the pick on a player who will never report. But we should have the ability to sell some success stories from past imports and generate some interest in coming over to play with guys like Lavoie and Squires for the next 2-3 years.
