I think the better team won but it’s always tough when you choke away a game late like the Moose did.. feel for the players in this situation.

What an excellent season. At the start of it nobody would have thought Halifax would be in a league final, and especially after the trade deadline.
I know the Mackinnon/Drouin team is the best of all time, this team as far as offensive explosion is better. Their capability to score at will is unmatched. This was the most unique mooseheads team I think we have ever seen. They could fall asleep multiple times a game but then just come down and score with their big guns.
Big congratulations to Quebec and sc74. He was a respectful poster and glad that franchise could win the trophy for the first time since 1976! Quebec has the best transistion game I’ve seen at this level maybe ever. A big, strong, veteran team that stayed healthy for the most part and was coached extremely well. A great representative for the league.
Not a conspiracy guy by any means but the fact halifax had 1 PP a game again is bananas. No PPs is a small part of the problem, but Halifax got outcoached, their injuries caught up to them and Quebec’s transition and defence was superb.
I’m a big believer in you have to lose to learn how to win in the playoffs. Quebec had a 3-1 lead against shawinigan in the semis last year and lost. Their core comes back and the team makes some moves and they win it. Halifax will look to do the same next year. It was a treat to watch Lawerence, doucet, Boucher and l’hereux in a mooseheads jersey!
Also remember that the go for it year was always next season. This year the team forced Russell’s hand and he got two big pieces to help them. Next year they will go all in for the 30th anniversary.

It's all good experience and the investment in the big guns 34+92 will pay off in transfer of this experience earned by the younger players they carried this far. Those guys brought this team to elite level.
A couple of notes on the game tonight. Quebec went out and won it. Some will say the Moose lost it but Remparts outshot them all game. The Remparts went down but kept getting up and made it hard for Halifax to get comfortable. They exploited the parts of game they had to.
Quebec won every road game in the post season.
Halifax was a different team on road themselves. Sadly the last two series they went 1-5 at home. There was no home ice advantage to playing in Halifax. It might be the rink itself. Ice, boards, how puck bounces around sticks but they got away from playing the right way often. And that is an aspect to build and teach on.

That is a great topic to start discussing soon. Some posters (negative or not) started the topic in the 1st round to start thinking about trading Dumais and Furlong. I’m all for going for it next year, but I am not sure where to start as I think that we are missing a lot of pieces…a discussion for another thread

Proud of the boys, they left it all out on the ice tonight fought till the bitter end that was hard to watch but I'm still proud of them. I never expected in October for them to make a run to the league final.
Just curious why is everyone saying next year is our year? when we lose Doucet, Lawrence, Boucher, probably Dumais and L'Hereux. Rousseau probably wanted the 3rd goal back and I thought he had their 4th one. I mean the experience from the run will be good for the kids and a year older. Just think what happened the year before we won the Memorial cup we lost in the Semis. When you play till almost June it makes for a very short off-season. Regardless it was another fun season at the rink that flew by, only 3 months till training camp. I'm excited too just had the 15 pack this season will probably go full Season next year and move down by my friend. Congrats Quebec, but I can't see you winning the Memorial cup.

So Dumais is only going into his 19 year old season. He is likely returning. The entire D will be back with Whynot as a 20 I dont see him leaping to pro...(only question is Moravec) This year they outscored teams. They had to. Next year its more on the back end with experienced 19 year olds like Vidicek up front. The Q is a 19 year old league. How they cap it off we will see.

True and I guess we do have lots of forwards that are still good Vidicek, Cataford, etc plus I trust Cam to draft good, and I think we can do it for our apparent go for it year I'm sure there will be lots of perks for our 30th anniversary season. We still have Bisaca as Captain. Who could be our 20's besides Whynot?

I have to start by saying it’s not that they lost it’s how they lost. That sucked. Simply put it was awesome for almost a minute and then the wind just completely sucked out of the sails. Also everyone keeps saying the better team won I don’t agree the healthier team won. Now in saying that you have to beat the team in front of you and Quebec did. The loss of Moravec was probably the most notable one. An older experienced guy wouldn’t have been very beneficial. I wonder how hurt L’Heureux was. He was still very effective but if he wasn’t 100% and he still had a huge series.
As a lot have said this is a learning moment for this team. The problem being Halifax is probably going to lose 5 to 8 regular players. I wonder if this leaves Biasca hungry wanting to come back next year and cleanup this unfinished business? Him coming back would be huge for this team. I think they as skilled as they were see they need a little more truculence for the playoffs. That without a doubt was a major factor between the 2 teams. That and speed. The speed of Quebec on the puck was overwhelming for players like Phillips at times. Hopefully he learns from this and gets to work the next 3 months for next year.

I agree that it’s the way they lost that game that hurts more, but I think that it was a ticking time bomb just about to burst, lol…it was Remparts year definitely…. as far as Biasca, I believe that it’s time to let him go and focus somewhere else…even this year, he was part of our 2nd tier player. I wish we get another great crop of 20s (it is impossible to beat Lawrence, Doucet, boucher) and 2 top Euros (i am happy with Moravec coming back)….if we can’t fill those 20s and Euros with top players, it will be tougher to be the Quebec Team of this year

A horrific ending to a great run. What a rollercoaster it was in the rink tonight, jumping out to leads but not being able to hold on long enough. Fine margins is what defines the playoffs and we were on the wrong side of it all three games at home - bad bounces and bad refereeing included.
This was a really special group, especially Doucet and Lawrence who were absolutely home run holiday acquisitions by Cam. Sad for Doucet who was twice the bridesmaid but never the bride. Hope Lawrence gets picked up by an AHL team for next season - he deserves a chance.
L'Heureux was the last man off, consoled all his teammates and had a nice little moment where he kissed the ice on his way out - I know he's got a lot of haters here but what a special player. It will be a long time before we see someone like him in a Mooseheads jersey again.
Looking forward to the changes on and off the ice that we will see this summer. Just under three weeks to the draft.

Tough loss to swallow, especially when Martin scored a nice goal that made the crowd wild. There were times in the game it felt like the Remparts could close in, and the Mooseheads were able to keep the distance. Better team win in the end and hats off to the Remparts. Back to me not going to many games until the playoffs.

Just under three weeks to the draft. Agree with the L’Heureux comment, special player and I will miss him. I am a great fan. Having seen how Gaucher, Bolduc, Dean, Roy played, Nashville have nothing to be ashamed of with their 1st round pick (assuming he controls his temper a little more . As far as the 20s, it is almost imposibble to build something equivalent to what we had this year for this coming year, unles a miracle.

Shockingly, Quebec were more focused on hockey, and less goony, than Sherbrooke was. Roy really mellowed out. There was no sideshow. They built a mature, veteran core and it paid off.
We almost beat them with our high end skill forwards, but they are definately worthy of being champs, and should do well at the Memorial Cup. The moose should be extremely happy with their season, and the playoff run became a memorable one as soon as they came back down 2 games to Sherbrooke.
Great season. They can repeat it if they can find enough offense to make up for the loss of L'Heureux, Lawrence, Doucet and Boucher. They were all big players in these playoffs.
