So who does everyone expect for new guys coming out of camp? They’re bringing a lot in so there’s bound to be at least one surprise.

Training camp info is out. chl.ca/lhjmq-mooseheads/2023-training-camp-roster-schedule/Official releases are never that interesting, but here's a few things that stood out for me: - When you look in the "Acquired" column of the camp roster, it's pretty amazing how home-grown this roster is. Jake Todd is the only player brought in via trade. - Antoine Fontaine was mentioned in the opening paragraph alongside Kilfoil and Ponzetto, I think there's high expectations of him from the coaches and front office. - Fournier and James are both still on the camp roster. Particularly surprised James is showing up, his chances of sticking around would be almost zero, no? - James Chase is coming up for camp again. He looked good last camp, could we convince him to sign? There's lots of opportunity and ice time available... - On the other hand, none of the other Americans we drafted this most recent draft (Amico, Munroe, Dabrowski, Dow) are coming to camp. Taillefer not coming either, so he must be locked in on Penn State. Excited to see who's grown and developed over the summer. Hockey's just around the corner.

As expected no Cam Whynot at training camp.
Definitely going to be a fun one.
Looks like the Mooseheads signed Tyler Totten last year, maybe I missed that, came off a great year of U18 Major Midget with 52 points.
I’ll be having my eyes on George Roti who is the other candidate against Jack Milner. With OHC Maroon U18 he had a .906%. But it looks like it’ll be Jack Milner who had a .897% in Junior A at 17. Brady James is still there too if both don’t look ready.
My favourite defender at last years camp was Hugo Boucher, rightfully so he was the last defender to be cut from camp. (Not including Davis) he has the skill but also looks like he’s 22.
These were the last names in the final cuts of camp last year. Safe to say we’re not afraid to give people a chance.
- Bryson Boudreau - Brandon Abbass - Liam Welsh - Jake Todd - Reece Peitzsche - Antoine Fontaine - Lou Levesque - Hugo Boucher - Stephen Davis - Dylan Chisholm - Jack Milner -
Antoine Fontaine and Lou Levesque seem to be the front runners if no one stands out more. Brody Fournier looks like he makes the team? Maybe we add one more 20, if Brady James isn’t back.

The key that you don’t understand to what you said is AGIAN. This to me almost guarantees he’s on the team. You’re fairly new and I’m guessing you don’t know these rules yet. To keep your NCAA eligibility you can do 48 hrs period. Not 48 hours each year. Him coming back, if he actually does should be added, means he’s probably guaranteed a spot. No Whynot to me is a little surprising only because there’s been no talk about what his plans are at all. My guess is he’s going to school but we haven’t heard he committed to any school either. This to me unless a trade is made before the beginning of the season means Fournier probably makes the team. Although I stand by the point he’s basically this years Davis. I think unless he just comes in scoring every left right and Center, the team would be better off giving his ice time to others.

This would be the 2nd tryout to the same team. This to me looks like it would have a lot of holes in it. Once again not a lawyer but I think you’re reaching here. If this were the case why is this the first time I have ever seen a player come back with any team? Why wouldn’t a player in the past go we have a lot of money we can cover this, this is a great training opportunity.

I ignored your jab earlier about being "fairly new", but if you think the extent of my hockey knowledge dates back to when I created this account in 2022, I can't help you. I don't care for bragging on the internet, but I can assure you I have extensive knowledge on how the NCAA clearinghouse works. Happy to share with you via private message if you need my credentials. From my own first hand experience, it's likely more common in the OHL than in the Q, factoring in their league having American markets and lesser travel distances. And yes - if your family is well off you have a lot more opportunities available to you. That's just how the world works. If you care for a specific example, www.eliteprospects.com/player/205509/matt-mcleod attended Colts camp in 2012, 2013 and 2014 - paying his own way in the latter two years while still maintaining his eligibility to attend Canisius.

Do you think Nasreddine is guaranteed a spot too? FYI as much as you think you’re being a smart ass the answer is no and Cam basically said that at the draft. He’s next year Fontaine. He’s going back to U18 for a year and then will be given every chance to make the team next year.

Fournier showing up to camp is an interesting situation.
He was not a favorite of Favreau, that was obvious, but with Midgley there's a chance for a fresh start.
If you take away the big 3, there is no forward on that training camp roster who is a better offensive player right now than Brody Fournier.
I can definitely see him making the team, at least for the first half.
