Training camp info is out. chl.ca/lhjmq-mooseheads/2023-training-camp-roster-schedule/Official releases are never that interesting, but here's a few things that stood out for me:- When you look in the "Acquired" column of the camp roster, it's pretty amazing how home-grown this roster is. Jake Todd is the only player brought in via trade. - Antoine Fontaine was mentioned in the opening paragraph alongside Kilfoil and Ponzetto, I think there's high expectations of him from the coaches and front office. - Fournier and James are both still on the camp roster. Particularly surprised James is showing up, his chances of sticking around would be almost zero, no? - James Chase is coming up for camp again. He looked good last camp, could we convince him to sign? There's lots of opportunity and ice time available... - On the other hand, none of the other Americans we drafted this most recent draft (Amico, Munroe, Dabrowski, Dow) are coming to camp. Taillefer not coming either, so he must be locked in on Penn State. Excited to see who's grown and developed over the summer. Hockey's just around the corner. Yes, indeed! Well said! A few things I was also waiting for. First, Whynot returning or not, which was earlier hinted by keeping Moravec in the line-up. No real impact on the D squad IMO. And, considering the new season coming up, I believe I haven't mentionned it before, but I was thinking of Fournier as an OA to start the season. I mean, these kids are still young at 20, so maybe we could see the young man show good things as a RWer coming out of summer. At the very least, we'll see nothing less than in the playoffs. I know it all depends on how much he could get accomplished in such a short period of time. Now, I know there is some concern up front, but untill Xmas, I do believe the best way to go is to have Fontaine, Kilfoil and Ponzetto showing how fast they can adapt and grow while Crosby and Pietzsche are given a chance to show more a year older. Fall is always about progression and what comes out of it.

James Chase is soooooooo interesting. The key that you don’t understand to what you said is AGIAN. This to me almost guarantees he’s on the team. You’re fairly new and I’m guessing you don’t know these rules yet. To keep your NCAA eligibility you can do 48 hrs period. Not 48 hours each year. Him coming back, if he actually does should be added, means he’s probably guaranteed a spot. No Whynot to me is a little surprising only because there’s been no talk about what his plans are at all. My guess is he’s going to school but we haven’t heard he committed to any school either. This to me unless a trade is made before the beginning of the season means Fournier probably makes the team. Although I stand by the point he’s basically this years Davis. I think unless he just comes in scoring every left right and Center, the team would be better off giving his ice time to others. Whynot tried to go to one school for sure and was rejected by them. It doesn’t really surprise me that he isn’t in camp because I’ve heard rumblings about him. Something off-ice?

FYI as much as you think you’re being a smart ass the answer is no and Cam basically said that at the draft. He’s next year Fontaine. He’s going back to U18 for a year and then will be given every chance to make the team next year. You’re a dick! I was asking a simple question! You will need to excuse Statsman - he acts like he is the only one on here who knows everything and is never wrong but yesterday he was proven wrong by True Blue with a magnificent example of backing up statements with facts and unfortunately you ended up in the crosshairs. I don’t think Nasreddine makes the team as a 16- too many other rookies coming in that are ahead of him and he needs to play this year.

I think statsman has calmed down a bit or has been more mindful of how he words things. But sometimes you still see the old statsman. At the end of the day, acting like the Comic Book Guy from the Simpson because you know QMJHL shit is hilarious. In the old days of office work, he would have nobody to talk to, because nobody cares.

Fournier showing up to camp is an interesting situation. He was not a favorite of Favreau, that was obvious, but with Midgley there's a chance for a fresh start. If you take away the big 3, there is no forward on that training camp roster who is a better offensive player right now than Brody Fournier. I can definitely see him making the team, at least for the first half. Predictions aside on if he makes the team or not, I don't see why he wouldn't show up. I'm personally not shocked.

Because I'm not sure why any AUS or CIS would reject him. He's a good player who I could see being a very solid university player.

I think people will be surprised to a degree, as I was, if he pops up on the team I’ve been told he’s going too. The other issue with the AUS/CIS is he’s going to be 20, it’s a 21-25 year old league, there’s a physical maturity that it takes to play against men and even bigger mental maturity for these guys in their communities. I don’t think he’s ready to play AUS/CIS hockey yet.

Charlottetown just got Cole Huckins for a 7th and a 4th, what a steal. I hope we end up with someone good if Brady James isn’t back

I know be patient and see what happens but that’s a great price for a 30 goal guy.

I said it on the Islanders board, but, you gotta think there might be a little bit of bitterness about the semi-finals last year, I don't know if Sherbrooke is giving Cam Russel that much of a sweetheart deal.

I know it's not technically tied to the Brabenec deal, but there has to be a little wink wink, nudge nudge, on that one.

Maybe the islanders have a deal in place for a good return in Horth?

I read on the french board that this deal was also tied to Brabenec??? That has to be part of it, that's my thought anyway. I said on the islanders board, but it's possible neither team knew if Huckins would be back this season 100%, and after the Guay fiasco last year they wanted to be sure before finalizing the trade.

The delay was probably because Huckins still hoped for a contract with the Flames. He was at their development camp in July.
