Arizona wins their final game and the Habs move into 5th overall pick pre draft lottery. Celebrini and Demidov, the top two fw's in the draft, will be gone when the Habs pick....but with such skilled Dmen available early on, the Habs should still be able to grab a skilled Fw with their pick. How come Montreal has a 0.3% chance at 3rd and a 0.0% chance at 4th overall, but have 8.5% for first and 8.6% for second?

How come Montreal has a 0.3% chance at 3rd and a 0.0% chance at 4th overall, but have 8.5% for first and 8.6% for second? I believe the answer is that there are lotteries for the first 3 picks. So they can win those and pick #1 2 or 3 so there's no scenario where they can move to 4 but they can move back if a team behind them wins to move up.

Somebody explained it to me last year. It's a really weird scenario of teams winning the lottery.

So many options cant wait the offseason is gonna be interesting for habs fans
No buyouts coming so unless they trade some dead weight we are another year away from major upgrades

Wonder how many of the potential top FA's wil re-sign before July 1st? Steven Stamkos Sam Reinhart Jake Guentzel Sean Monahan Chandler Stephenson Jonathan Marchessault Jake DeBrusk Tyler Toffoli Can we expect Hughes be active on the FA market?

Unless it's a short term deal, I don't see them spending on a big UFA, not for 4+ years for a guy who will be past his prime by the time they can contend. I think trading for an RFA(Necas makes a lot of sense) forward makes the most sense.

Marchessault to Montreal to finish his career could be an interesting storyline.

Marchessault to Montreal to finish his career could be an interesting storyline. I don't really see a fit. He's already 33 and will likely want a 4-5 year deal, plus it's another small forward. If he's willing to go 2 years, then I have no issue doing it. He would fit well in Pittsburgh where there is urgency to win now. I would love Guentzel(29) or Reinhart(28) but both will want a cup contender or huge overpay. Debrusk(27) is the only realistic option IMO. Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield Newhook-Dach-Trade/UFA Roy-Dvorak-Gallagher/Armia Anderson-Evans-Gallagher/Armia Pezzetta/Pinard Having Dach and Newhook mostly healthy instead of playing 57 of 164 games has a huge impact. That helps push guys that are not full time top 6 guys to easier spots on the 3rd line.

Dach's Health is what worries me .....he wouldn't be The 1st Big Guy that was Soft or Injury Prone . 3 Major Injuries in 4 years worries me . Only 23 years old and in 5 years has yet to play a Full Season ......a little concerning .

That's why I would keep adding potential top 6 forwards via draft and possibly trade. Hopefully with physical maturity comes more durability and protecting himself better.

I don't see a very active off season in FA this year for Hughes... but next summer look out
I do see a very active trade season leading up to the draft tho
Dunno how available he will be but a guy i'd target if he was would be Travis Konecny in Philadelphia
