I 100% feel that the Oilers will be in on Jake Allen.....and I believe that they will overpay for him. Dunno who else is out there but if they wanted Allen bad enough to overpay I feel it would have happened already.... it's not like Allen is playing much in Montreal Only way you get them to overpay is if you take Campbell back and buy him out...... then they would likely have to dangle a top prospect or first in the return Otherwise Allen doesn't get you much in my opinion

Mesar was a #26th overall selection in the 2022 draft.

Always a win for the team ... I suspect that for the short term, this means he is the guy they chose and one of Allen/Primeau will be moved in the coming weeks - however who knows what can happen over the term of the contract, so having the flexibility to move him later if needed is always good. I suspect part of the reason the Habs have not moved a goalie yet is their lack of organizational depth ... if they deal one of Allen/Primeau, they are one pulled muscle away from having to promote Dobes ( Mann doesn't appear to be on an NHL contract) to the NHL, and he has not looked near ready in the AHL.

Primeau looks good but his numbers are terrible
team needs a boost of some sort..... too many forwards putting up bagels in the scoring column night after night

Primeau looks good but his numbers are terrible team needs a boost of some sort..... too many forwards putting up bagels in the scoring column night after night The big bad boogey man that every team should covet has a bagel to start the year in the goal column. That albatross of a contract looks worse and worse everyday.

Primeau looks good but his numbers are terrible team needs a boost of some sort..... too many forwards putting up bagels in the scoring column night after night Part of the problem is, other than SJ, his starts were against Boston Florida, Nj and las Vegas...pretty asinine that they use a rookie goalie vs 3 of the top teams in the NHL plus NJ is a pretty good team with a slow start. No wonder they struggle to develop young players...

Ideally they trade Allen, no sense in keeping two older goalies on a rebuilding team and dumping the young one. Laval could use a veteran goalie, Dobes has struggles and Mann is not a high end goalie.
