The Mooseheads have a three game road trip this week in Quebec! OCTOBER 12/13/15
We start with a relatively tough matchup against Justin Gill, Justin Poirier’s Baie Comeau Drakkar. The Drakkar whom had a very tight knitted playoff fight against Moncton last season seem to be on their way to contenders next season, and will look for a solid playoff run this year. They’d had a lot of standouts so far in the early run of the season. Raoud Boilard who was playing BCHL hockey last season to a leap back into the Q and has 5 goals, 8 points in 8 games. Import Picks Melovsky and Feneko have really driven the play in their forward/defender spots, and Halifax’s own Matthew MacDonald whose in his 5th season in the Q didn’t really find his form until this year where he’s off to a hot 4 goal, 7 point start with the squad.
Goaltending will be another story in this game, Mathis Rousseau will take on Olivier Ciarlo who’s in his fourth season with the Drakkar, not the greatest numbers but the Mooseheads will need to find them early.
Our next stop on the trip is against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. The Sags have some bite to their game, they’re young and probably won’t be ready for a big run for another 2 years. They don’t really have a clear #1 goaltender though, and one of their better players Fabrice Fortin is out indefinitely with a back injury. It will be interesting if Rousseau starts this game or if Milner does, most likely Rousseau.
And the final stop is against the Rimouski Oceanic, a very well structured team most like the Blainville Armada, they have four players with 4+ goals so far. They have taken a chance on goaltender Vincent Filion who was a 1st Round Pick for Val D’or and got traded to Moncton and never found his form, they will look to upset Halifax on home ice.
Should be a fun 3 games of hockey to watch! Go Moose!
