Busy one! Play in Saint John Friday Night, drive back home overnight. Play again Saturday night and then conclude with a Sunday Afternoon game! Hope the boys are well rested.
I assume Crosby is still out but upcoming. Canada Red was eliminated by Canada White in overtime in the Quarter Finals today. Kilfoil and Canada Red will play Friday Afternoon at 1pm for a 5th Place Game, the tournament is in Charlottetown, so there’s a small but possible chance he joins the team Saturday, he may have a drive back to Halifax or he will meet the team in Saint John later that day as the Canada U17 game ends at 3:30 and the Mooseheads game doesn’t end until 9:30. He’d watch that contest and travel on the team bus. If not he should be ready for Sunday Afternoon.
I assume it’ll be a Milner/Rousseau/Rousseau start but it could also be a Rousseau/Milner/Rousseau as well. Saint John is 2nd last in the Q and Shawinigan isn’t too far behind, Cape Breton is a solid 9-9 to start the season.
Go Moose Go!

It's strange to me that the league shoehorns these 3-in-3s in that involve home games. 3-in-3s up in Quebec are perfectly fine. But why is it necessary to have three games in three days that involve teams like Saint John and Cape Breton where they could easily play during the week. I guess it's just to get more weekend games in, but it's strange to me. It happens with every team so this is a league thing and not just a Mooseheads thing.
Anywho, all eyes this weekend will be on Jordan Dumais, as he is four points behind Brandon Benedict's franchise record of 303 career points. It's been assumed since this time last year that Dumais would beat this record. But that doesn't make it any less of an accomplishment. There have been some pretty good players come through Halifax and for Dumais to have a chance at this points record is a testament to how good he's been. We should not take this for granted. Dumais is an extraordinary talent and deserves to be up there with the best Mooseheads ever.
The 3-in-3 will be a test for the younger players on the Herd. Keeping the focus is the goal.

Dumais is inevitable, sheesh.
Picture quality from Harbour Station looks a little improved on the webcast! Still the same idiot camera operator who zooms in too much though.

Seen some early World Juniors projections and was shocked to see some people don’t think Dumais will crack the main lineup but rather be an extra or 4th liner, not all people but some people, mostly amateur takes, highly doubt that’s the case.
I’m disappointed I won’t be in the building tomorrow to potentially see Brandon Benedict’s record be overtaken but I’ll be in the building Sunday against Cape Breton.
Great game boys 6 in a row, what a fun season it has been so far, loving it. Go Moose Go!

Tonight was the good and the bad. When the puck came near him, SJ was in trouble, but when SJ had the puck, things got uncomfortable. This game wasn't in question, but it did highlight the areas that Halifax could use improving.

That was a great night for the Mooseheads in the standings. BC and Moncton both lost tonight. The Drakkar lost in regulation, too. That sets up a potential duel for first place next thursday.

I figured I'd make a post about tonight's game
Let's check the schedule, what is that? Some sort of.... mildly racist tire fire? Oh, wait, no, it's the Shawinigan Cataractes!
In all seriousness, Shawinigan had high hopes for this season I'm sure, and they have aspirations of hosting the Memorial Cup in 2025... but they find themselves mired in a 6 game losing streak, and are 1-8-1-0 in their past 10. This is also the second of a 3-in-3 for them.
They'll be missing young star Felix Lacert tonight, as he hasn't played since October 27th They're also missing Bedford's Cole Chandler, so that's disappointing that we won't see two very good young players tonight.
Felix Hamel will get the start for Shawinigan tonight, who are running with 3 goalies this year. This will be Hamel's 10th career start and 4th of the season, he comes in with a .818 SAV% and GAA of 5.30.
They'll be running with is as follows -
Baillargeon (17) - Denis (20) - Bonefon (19) Klima (17) - Dupuis (17) - Barbashev (20) Courtois (18) - Forget (17) - D'Astous (19) Groulx (AP 16) - - Lachance (17) - Yuzik (17)
Booth (19) - Menard (19) Plamondon (17) - Tourigny (18) Lemay (17) - Hebert (18)
So, this is quite a young roster, actually. And as much as this post seems like I'm ripping on them, they still have some Talent and the Mooseheads will need to take this game seriously.
Louis-Felix Denis is their leading scorer who has 9 goals and 10 assists for 19 points in 10 games. Max Barbashev is another name we should all be familliar with, he has just 2 goals and 9 points in 11 games with the Cataractes.
Anyway, that's my pre-game scout, hopefully we see two streaks continue tonight, the Mooseheads winning streak, and Shawinigan's losing skid.

Crosby is back. Tomorrow would have been a month since he was hurt. His absence has highlighted exactly the main issue the Moose will need to address at Christma… basically he’s missed a month and ten games or so and yet he remains 6th in scoring among the forwards. Don’t expect brilliance from him tonight but hopefully he’s healthy and get back on track in the next couple weeks.

Dumais is probably second to Drouin in Moose history in his natural ability to score goals AND be an elite playmaker too. Maybe the most deceptive wrist shot release we've seen as well. We've had big time scorers in our history, but there is something special about his skill that most don't have.

Are they looking at trading Remi Delafontaine? He’s not even on the bench he’s a health scratch. Understandably running the three goalie tandem though so someone has to sit.
I wonder if it’s going to be a high scoring affair tonight?
I’m going with a 6-3 win and Dumais crushes Benedict’s record and surpasses him.
So excited to see Crosby back, 8 points in 8 games. It might take some time to readjust just have to be patient. I thought Kilfoil was going to be back tonight, maybe getting some rest, then back at it tomorrow.
Here’s the forward point structure going into tonight’s matchup.
HALIFAX Cataford (27) | Vidicek (24) | Dumais (24) 9gp Levesque (18) | Todd (5) | Fournier (17) Peitzsche (7) | MacPhee (2) | Crosby (8) 8gp Ponzetto (5) | Moser (4) | Fontaine (2)
Milner (4.02GAA) (1-3-1) GA: 20 (5gp)
SHAWINIGAN
Baillargeon (3) | Denis (19) | Bonefon (6) Klima (4) | Dupuis (12) | Barbashev (9) Courtois (2) | Forget (3) | D'Astous (8) Groulx (0) | Lachance (3) | Yuzik (3)
Hamel (5.30GAA) (1-2-0) GA: 14 (3gp)

The game OT winner against Rimouski and his second goal last night, he just flicks his wrists and its a laser far side shelf. Like, how the fuck? Lol
