I’m sorry I always talk about the bottom six or 8 guys but everyone else talks about top guys , but everyone can’t forget you need depth to win

Ponzetto is looking like a big miss by our scouts We have the worst Euro duo of the league and the worst 20 years old squad of the league. Moravec is legit great but in my book he counts for only 1 side, a Euro or a 20…you put him on the Euro side, our 20s are weak to worst or you put him on the 20s side and our Euros are the worst of the league. I am not panicking, but our top players need help this year….how can you leave our top players with this low caliber depth…i still think they can go for it, but let’s trade for top players or send Dumais and Furlong with a contender to go next year.

As Cam Russell said a lot of teams have dipped into our import draft pool so finding a player is going to be very tough every year you build a strong roster.
There’s only really two impact forwards the Mooseheads missed on so far, Japan player Kenta Isogsi has 12 goals, 30 points in 22 games and three seasons of USHL under his belt. Then there’s Rodzers Bukarts who actually looked decent for Latvia in the World Juniors here, has 7 goals, 11 points in 23 games. And an Ukraine player Ihnat Pazii has 4 goals 12 points in 22.
There wasn’t much of a better upgrade scoring wise on Ponzetto so it’s best we play the waiting game on him, but could be our first disappointing import since Marcel Barinka. We shall see. Give Yannik some time on the fourth line.

I mean it’s not even really a draft, then you factor in the ban on a bunch of quality players that could have been coming over the past couple of seasons and the quality suffers all around, causing more teams to draft less talented players. It also feels like the younger Europeans are getting promoted to the higher leagues faster now so you’re seeing even less of the premium elite young players coming over and more guys that are maybe lost in the shuffle of their home organization or want to come to North America for exposure/ice time. There needs to be patience with euros because the talent level is down overall and you’re really not drafting for 17 but instead 19. Although I disagree, Halifax could have easily upgraded on him. Repcik and Hujer were traded cheaply, both upgrades on Ponzetto. Braillard went unclaimed through waivers, also a better player than Ponzetto. The pick was made with 3 seasons in line but they could have gotten more scoring production out of a euro slot this season without trying too hard.

I feel like Halifax did not have a good lead on another euro considering that up until 30 minutes before they made the pick they were still trying to get Biasca to come back.
