I mean, I know the last part of your post is a joke, but any of us who are critical of the team at times just want to see decisions made that will ultimately lead to long term success of the franchise. The team is finally starting to make headlines for themselves for the right reasons, and I'm here for it. They've upgraded the on ice product exponentially without completely gutting the future (yet), made increased efforts for community involvement and in game experience for the people paying to see them, and now it looks like their investment into those things is starting to pay dividends for them. The moves they have made at this deadline have officially made it an interesting time to be an Eagles fan, and moving into the next 2 season should be exciting.

You just haven't been paying attention. You think i've been pointing it out and encouraging and participating in discussions around changes because I want them to fail? Its damn frustrating watching things go wrong and no solutions be tried. These guys have been making efforts and they're getting rewarded. There's still another level or 2 they need to, and 100% can, hit with time here.

Its funny watching people take shots the minute there's a glimpse of hope it can be turned around as if people have been celebrating and cheering for the demise and not trying to shine a light on all the wrong so it can be fixed. Really shows how passionate people are. They seem to not be able to wait to throw success in peoples faces. The team is still on track to be in a round 1 battle that goes 6-7 games. Everyone knows my opinion on buying your way into the middle. Might be best to see how this all finishes before we rush to say people haven't been properly critical of the teams approach which we all mostly agree did 100% change this year as they went from basically saying we're buying big and moving that SJ 1st to not doing that at all.

Another point that can be made right now with regards to community involvement is the teams new Social Media approach. Having the players involved in (sometimes) silly, humorous videos gives younger, and older fans a face, and personality to the names they see on the ice.
When you go to the rink time after time and just see faceless jerseys skating around, it's a very cold connection correlating nothing but stats towards a 16-20 year old kid.
This gives the fans themselves a much more personal connection, and more of an in to let them choose a favorite player(s) to cheer for, and another reason to spend that money to head to the rink.
I know this has basically nil to do with the on ice product, but I do see a difference in public opinion toward the overall product lately.

In a way, I think it does help the on-ice product. The social media engagement works both ways, fans get that connection, players get a sense of being part of something that is bigger than the Team. The result, you have fans who want to see the players succeed and players who want to win for the fans.
It's all about positive energy.

You need to be out there in many ways...social media is probably the easiest in that everyone already has a camera in their possession...the creativity is a key and they're doing a great job keeping the content fresh. The old ways of engaging will still work with an older crowd. But to hit a younger crowd you need to engage in the new ways. The on ice product definitely blends in with it but that social media and promotional aspect is the year over year thing you do to keep yourself connected with the crowd. Your good years should just be enhanced by that environment and experience that you're creating.

I'm just glad they pushed the year going for it to 2025-2026, it will allow as you see fans building up excitement.

I don't think anything has been pushed, you will see the Eagles push hard next year and again in 25-26. There was definitely a philosophy change. Coming into this year all messaging was a big push this year and all in next year. Around mid-late November is when that stance seemed to soften and suddenly we were acknowledging that there could be a pretty good core for 25-26 as well. That SJ 1st we were basically saying was on the way out was suddenly our most protected trade asset. The plan we were heading down would have had Lavoie traded at 19 to restock the cupboards. Might still work out that way but it shouldn't be because of a scorched earth all in next season.

I am not convinced the philosophy changed as much as we think.
Most of the emptying of the cupboards was on reputation vs what was truly communicated. Town Halls always talked about a strong prospect pool and pick bank, listing players that could return each of the next 3 seasons.
Did we assume Sly would repeat Bathurst? No question, but I do remember awhile back him talking about the difference in the 2 markets and that a GM strategies need to adapt.
Either way, Milota a young D-core prosect pool that is very solid and some emerging forwards have given the coaching staff and Sly something to work with for a 2 year run.

It's been nice seeing this transition in Cape Breton, even as a rival fan. I hope the Eagles continue with these positive changes to the franchise and build on what's already been done and working.
Hopefully Charlottetown can continue building on their turnaround from the Rocket years, and Bathurst gets an ownership group to pour passion into that team as well.

The Too Be Determined in all this is Irwin Simon . I like where the Team is right now and heading into next year but I am not the Owner . I can't help but think he could tinker with whatever Sly and Company have planned . I hope he stays out of it and lets them do their jobs . He has a mess in Newfoundland that needs cleaning up , so hopefully his attention is on that . The Attendance Figures have been promising ......however Mother Nature is gonna rear her Ugly Head this Weekend , happens every year a game or two affected by Major Snow Storms .

I believe there was a quote at one point about expecting to move that SJ 1st during this past trade period which later was talked back. From the minute we moved Desruisseaux last year it was all about 2025 in terms of messaging from the team.
