A couple observations after two games: If Newcombe misses time after getting injured last night, we need to hope for a short series to get some rest in between Rounds. Burbidge looks like a different player from the regular season, besides the offense he's produced, he's thrown at least 3-4 healthy looking hits and is skating hard in both directions. Our team looks very deep right now, all twelve forwards have been giving the shark boats all they can handle down low and causing Rimouski to turn the Puck over in their own end alot. Eagles D Zone play is impressive, not sure if I have seen games with as many shots blocked by sticks down and swept away from the "home plate" area as these first two games. Ruccia has been serviceable, and maybe even conserving some energy not having to face 30+ SOG which will help the longevity going forward. Rimouski D is having a terrible time holding the blue line in the offensive zone, I must have watched close to ten passes to the point missed to lose the zone and Have to retreat backwards. Feel bad for Lacelle, Kid looks very good for his age but has obviously been pressed into an unfortunate situation and really got picked apart on the last few goals last night. Rimouski needs more from their veteran players. St-Denis has been leading the charge for them but OAs Barbashev and Savoie have been focusing too much on trying to draw penalties (without much success) instead of putting their heads down and getting pucks at the net. What happened to Newcombe ?

You have to go back to 2009 to find anything comparable for the first 2 playoff games but I believe this is a new high for the first 2 playoff games in franchise history. Hey Eagles fans. Haven't introduced myself on this forum yet, but I am the new Director of Marketing, Sales & Ticketing for the organization. This record is something we looked into, and can confirm this is weekend was the third most attended first 2 playoff home games in franchise history. It was the most attended first 2 home playoff games in 20 years. The record is currently held by the opening round of the 2002 Playoffs vs Baie-Comeau (03/22/02 + 03/23/02) = 8659 The second largest being the opening round of the 2004 Playoffs vs Chicoutimi (04/02/04 + 04/03/04) = 8461 We surpassed the 2009 series vs Saint John by 243 people, and were 315 people shy of breaking the franchise record. On behalf of myself and the entire CBE organization we appreciate all the fans for making this a huge opening weekend. We hope to see you all back at The Nest in full force later in the playoffs Brett

Hey you were doing pretty good (lol) until you mentioned the 2004 Chicoutimi Series ........some of us Old Timers still suffer Nightmares from that Series ......hopefully this Playoff Run will help make some of us forget about all that . All joking aside , Keep up the good work and lets hope you are a Busy Man for the Next Month or so .

$500 Fine to the Eagles for a league review declined.
Wonder if they had sent in the Video of the Newcombe injury or if they had seen something else.

Love how this stuff really comes to light during playoffs. How Mickey Mouse is the league that in 2024 a team even has to send in a tape? And to add a fine on top of it is just pathetic. Assign someone to monitor the series in person. That person decides what may need more discipline. Taking more revenue out of these small markets is just brain dead.

Getting a Rimouski without a #1 goaltender is just huge. But you still need to take advantage. Especially on the road. Next 2 games are big to keep the overall momentum going.

I'm guessing the fine is more or less a small deterrent for teams trying to exploit the system. Its a waste of the leagues time by sending in 5-10 videos per game of plays you didn't like trying to get an opposing player to sit out for a game during an important series, which is a tactic I could see playing out with some psychopath GMs if there was no deterrent in place.

And in 1999 without the media and the video quality and everything we have today I get why that was the way but in 2024 a team should not need to send anything in. We're not exactly sending in a VHS tape through overnight fedex delivery. You'd be emailing in video clips. But why should you even have to do that? After each game the teams meet with the league advisor to discuss any questionable incidents. The system shouldn't be made to have exploits like that in it...there shouldn't be any tactics that require this type of system with the tech we have today. The league watches the game. The league tracks added discipline that may be needed. The league tells the teams what it sees and evaluates. Where in this process should a team need to make its own judgment call and risk giving up 1 row worth of tickets in revenue for the league to say there was nothing there? Another case where the answer is simple yet this league refuses to do it the simple way and then wonders why people view the entire process as over complicated and therefore part of larger conspiracies around fairness and bias.

For $59.99 the Q play-off package is a great deal. I spent more at Cineplex in 2 hours last week.

Game 3 set to go in a few hours. This is a pivotal game for this series with Rimouski now at home for 3. I won't say it's a must-win, but it's a must "play like you did in games 1 and 2". The result can always go either way, but the tone of the series can not change, Eagles need to stay the course with energy and physical play making the road back from a 2-0 deficit impossible to climb.
I expect a good push from Rimouski tonight, special teams will be the key, specifically the Eagles PK. The first 5 minutes in this one are so important, weather the storm and then get to work.

Big game for sure - I expect Rimouski to come out with something to prove. Result may not be what we want tonight but it is key to play the right way and keep doing all those small things right (blocking shots, energy, pucks out first try etc.) If we can play that way it will make things a lot easier going into tomorrow night just hoping for a better result.
predicting a 4-3 Rim win tonight
