I thought Gormleys stretch passes were bang on each and every time. Like you said Bisonette is another that can pass very well and set up plays. I'm curious with this Lane situation.....he is definatly not Q material but it sure would be nice to have someone police our young talent and I have a feeling that this may be something Flynn is thinking. I admit I've never been able to figure out Flynn's choices very well but I don't think Lane is an answer. Bell if he's willing is a better hockey player and big enough. I found that teams like to put you into a position of putting your fighter on and then play hockey trying to take advantage of the poor hockey player. SJ did this more than anyone as I remember. Herr wasn't terrible as a hockey player but Lane is. He also looks prone to taking penalties which can hurt us even worse. I know it was only inter-squad but Lane did not look out of place this morning. Maybe a bit out of shape, he did seem to know to go to the net and got 2 points. Just because Bell is big does not make him an enforcer, Lane is and he has proven it in the past. Like Spencer, i think he is worth investing time in because of what he brings to younger/smaller teammates.

question what will be the cost for the exibition game on sunday anybody know ? The Q site has that game highlighted in red which says its cancelled. Nothing on the Wildcat site says its cancelled so its probably a mistake on the Q site. They changed it from an afternoon to an evening game.

I understand your point but at least Spencer had some skill. I think Taylor Moore had more skill than Lane

You have to remember, Moore was 5'11" 200lbs and Lane is 6'8" 245lbs. I think he is worth keeping around until midseason, if it doesn't work trade him or release him.

There is just too much young talent that I'd rather have on the team than to waste on the friendly giant. I think making this roster is going to be tight enough, I just can't see us wasting a spot on him. Speaking of Moore, how about him VS Lane?

Lane signed his contract today. He will be on the roster.
bisonnette was unbelievable.
Roski I hope makes it. Tough and fast .
Noseworthy is a great looking player. O'Brien impressed as well.
Fomin still in Belarus. Has his US Visa but not his Canadian Visa. Not sure how long before he arrives.

Lane took 3 penalties tonight so he seems to be penalty prone as well. Memory serves me correctly I think it was one hit from behind, holding and something else Lane also took 2 this morning. If the rumor is true and he's on the team then I really hope are special teams are better then last year...actually, either way I hope they are better then last year.

I was at the scrimmage this morning this is my take on it:
TEAM RED
Gormley : disappointing, look shaky at times in the second period. Overall from the reviews he was getting he will devellop into a great player.
Downe : Look very good during the play.
Roski: very aggressive, like the style of play
Bisonnette: very good in the first period, but didn't notice him in the last 2
Blain: Very impressive, should make this team
O'Brian: Also very good
Daoust: Didn't expect much of him, but I was really impressed with his play got in a little fight to. gave a few checks. I really like this player.
TEAM White
Dimitruk: Very impressive, Best D out there today by far
Bell: Much better than anticipated. I believe he will crack the roster.
Sicilia: Very good, had alot of intensity in the 2nd period.
Noseworthy: Is a keeper. checks, rough, and decent player. He's on the team for sure.
Tremblay: WOW! great goal in the game. Hit the crossbar and in. Few minutes later gets an assist. and Another crossbar goal in the shootouts. Surprised but very impressed.
MacAusland: much more agressive than last year. Got a lucky goal in a scrum around the net. Happy he's back here again.
Brown : Played with MacAusland's line But I really notice MacAusland more than him. Overall he was decent.
These are the players that really caught my eye. I have to say that everyone looked really good. I think we are going to see at least 4 players get moved to other teams this year. IMO we have the best crop of rookies of the last 4 years.

Well I went to pick up my season tickets today and they handed me the schedule of events sheet that has rosters on the back. I just glanced at the rosters and noticed that Brown, MacAuslund and Stephens were listed on the red and white teams. I'm sure someone who attended this morning's scrimmage can let us know if they did indeed participate.

My thoughts: Team white- Noseworthy Brown and MacAusland played on the same line and were very good together. Brown made some nice plays and was very strong on the puck.Carried the puck in traffic to the front of the net where it bounced around-and then Devon found it and buried it. Noseworthy was very reponsable, finishes his checks and had 2 vg hits. Dimitruk was very, very good. Taite Paul made a couple of nice plays. Jeff Bell didn't look good in the 1st period but was OK after that.If he sticks, there will be a lot of odd man rushes against us-he tends to gamble in deep.Saw him get caught flat footed a couple of times by reaction plays where he had to decide whether to start skating backwards or try to beat the oncoming forward to the loose puck that was inbetween them. However,he looked good on 1 breakout play that ended up being a 2 on 1 on him. Also made a nice check in the 1st period. Never noticed Tremblay til he scored the goal, got an assist and scored again in the shootout.Didn't really stand out to me other than that. Thought Sicilia played OK. #19 Carteciano was responsable and edgy(Matt MurdockII?). Goalie was Liberatore-he won't make the Cats.
team red: Blain and O'Brien had a couple of good shifts together.Blain looked solid-unfortunately for him,to make the team this year he needs to be looking outstanding at this point. Daoust will be a very good player for us-next year.He will be going back to Midget AAA this year.He has a very heavy shot and is not afraid to play physical. He just needs another year. Gormley made 1 good play to bat the puck out of the air on a centering pass by Brown.Other than that I thought he struggled. Downe surprised me-he's good and a nice skater. Cadet needs to work on his skating this year but could make the team next year. Didn't notice Roski until the 3rd period where he played OK. Bissonnette might make the team.I had my preconception that he would be going back to Midget AAA for sure, but he was pretty good today.Could definitely see him on the 4th line-he was in the middle of things all day. Was disappointed in Stephens in the 1st half of the game but he played better in the 2nd half(still not very good).I was watching for him all game-he's still not strong enough.Dimitruk pushed him easily off the puck(with 1 hand) on 1 rush in the 1st period. Was hoping for more from him. He' got some work to do to make the team this year. Goalie was Vye-made a great toe save on a nice shot by Brown(think he just threw the leg out as fast as he could and prayed-but he stopped it).He was Ok.Got beat high a few times.

I thought that todays game was much better ...They are feeling more comfortable for sure...If Lane signed is that why he was not in the line up this morning??? I found that Red still played much better...Bissonnette/Roski line was good in the first period, but when white matched them with the brown/macAusland/noseworthy line they got shut down alot.. Dimitruk reminds me of Yandal so much.....He is a great two way player, loves to jump in on the rush, but does get caught a few times... Overall great bunch of talent.....
