Riopel is expected to play the entire game and we are going to be icing a veteran lineup with a little mix of the younger guys.
Discuss.

Good strategy Riopel hasn't played yet in preseason so not a bad idea. Vets & rookies is also good to see who clicks and who doesn't. Saint John is also doing a mix of vets and rookies so I guess it kind of makes sense.

I agree Tremblay played a very good game. I thought he was one of best Caty out there. I thought MacAusland played a strong game as well. Tremblay deserves a shot with the Cats.

Jesse Biduke was the best forward out there tonight. I also thought Noseworthy is playing well enough to make the team. Honestly, I can not see where MacAusland is going to fit into our plans. Hard worker... absolutely, but not part of the solutiuon to our offensive problems. We need to make room for Tremblay and Bisonnette.

Regular Season GP G A Pts PIM +/- 2007-08 46 2 11 13 16 4
Those are MacAuslands numbers from last year. Given his stats and size, I will try my luck with a rookie.

I think you'll see MacAusland play on the 2nd line or 3rd line throughout the year. He played with Sill & Brannon tonight and IMO he was very good.

The amount of money Irving paid to land him here (i.e. education), he will be here for quite some time. Keep in mind last year he missed most of training camp and the first part of the season, so up until Christmas was basically his training camp. After that, he just appeared to have a tough time adjusting to the league. Perhaps the injury (groin, I believe) affected his play for longer than we thought. I liked what I seen from him tonight. I;m sure you wi,ll see a huge improvement compared to last year.

What numbers are you expecting from a 17 year old, same size? I would argue not enough to justify not giving Tremblay, Bisonnette or Noseworthy playing time a the major junior level. I, of course, wouldn't be disappointed if MacAusland proves me wrong.
Have you seen a difference in him this fall, so far, compared to last year?

I know we are rebuilding and we have some great prospects on paper and a bank vault full of draft picks and Flynn seems to be doing a great job with the card delt him but that being said...
Taking the usual work ethic that Flynn will instill in the new guys for granted, I really don't see anyone (Barring the 1 or 2 Euros) that will step up offensively. Even though bulk of our offense was sitting in the stands tonight (and that is not saying alot) we just don't have anyone that seems dynamic enough to fill that void even partially.
I know they're young (rookies) and one never can tell how they will truely develope until they mature but I don't foresee a great improvement in offense from last year.
On a side note I really don't see a future for MacAusland with this team, I see him as another Brenton unless he finds his groove but at this point I don't see big or even medium things from him.

Tremblay seems to have played a very good game again. anyone showed that they deserved to be in the roster ? A few guys looked out of place...Noseworthy Stevens Fortune Millson. Biduke looks a lot faster. There was no cohesion on offense, but the ice looked brutal, the puck was like a tennis ball.
