At what age are you suppose to be an impact in the Q? I think giving a 17 yr old until xmas would not be to much to ask before giving up on them!!!

Regular Season GP G A Pts PIM +/- 2007-08 46 2 11 13 16 4 Those are MacAuslands numbers from last year. Given his stats and size, I will try my luck with a rookie. He was a 16 year old rookie playing mostly 4th line, you can't judge players based on their stats at 16. Guys like Jodoin, Noseworthy, Tremblay etc were not even good enough to get drafted and play in the Q at 16.

I didn't expect big things from him last year but expected more than he gave, as much as I don't think he will develop into the player we hoped he would he is here if for no other reason they paid so much for him. I hope to be proven wrong and maybe I will be but if he can't score I don't have alot of use for a lightweight grinder.

Tremblay has to be given a chance on this team........nose for the net and one heck of a shot, showed real good speed and was one of the best forwards out there tonight.

I really like what I have seen from MacAusland so far this year....He has put on some weight and has great vision on the ice.. He is more aggresive this year And threw a couple really nice hits tonight. And most of the scoring chances tonight were from, Sill Brannon and MacAusland line . Don't count Devon out yet...

What numbers are you expecting from a 17 year old, same size? I would argue not enough to justify not giving Tremblay, Bisonnette or Noseworthy playing time a the major junior level. I, of course, wouldn't be disappointed if MacAusland proves me wrong. Have you seen a difference in him this fall, so far, compared to last year? I guess I'm not ready to give up on him as of yet. Given more ice time and solid linemates, and perhaps he can surprise a few of the doubters. I was kind of hoping Moncton would get Jessyko Bernard, as they played well together in the past. Oh well.

I know we are rebuilding and we have some great prospects on paper and a bank vault full of draft picks and Flynn seems to be doing a great job with the card delt him but that being said... Taking the usual work ethic that Flynn will instill in the new guys for granted, I really don't see anyone (Barring the 1 or 2 Euros) that will step up offensively. Even though bulk of our offense was sitting in the stands tonight (and that is not saying alot) we just don't have anyone that seems dynamic enough to fill that void even partially. I know they're young (rookies) and one never can tell how they will truely develope until they mature but I don't foresee a great improvement in offense from last year. On a side note I really don't see a future for MacAusland with this team, I see him as another Brenton unless he finds his groove but at this point I don't see big or even medium things from him. The big upside offensively on this team is 1-Brown 2-MacAusland and 3-Cameron, if those 3 take a big step forward, you end up with an offense that should be above average. Voynov should be a top point man with Barberio, assuming LA doesn't get a brain cramp and assign him to AHL at 18. Fomin should contribute at least 45-50 points if he is as good as advertised. I see guys like Bissonnette Roski and Gormley contributing some offense, but as rookies I prefer to not expect much for now. I thought Stevens had upside but he showed little tonight again...I think he could be the next veteran cut, he's definitely on the bubble IMHO. Eagles and Biduke with Cameron should give you 75-80 goals. Sill with Lessard and Brannon should give you 45-50 The key will be Fomin-MacAusland and Brown. Brown has 30-40 goal potential but only being 17, 30 is a bit of a stretch, 20-25 is more reasonable...MacAusland if he takes the next step 15-20 and a lot of assists...Fomin it's hard to say but he is known as a good finisher...that line will be the key...if they get 40 combined the Cats will struggle to be average offensively...if they combine for 60-70 then they may be above average. The defense should contribute better numbers and really help the transition game this year.

I really like Noseworthy..He has lots of energy and spirit..I watched him at conditioning camp and he really stood out. I would like to see him on the team..... I found the team was almost gun shy tonight. They would get the puck on the boards and they would toss it or turn it over...

I found the team was almost gun shy tonight. They would get the puck on the boards and they would toss it or turn it over... He looked good in inter squad but tonight the pace was quicker and he struggled a bit. I'd like to see him stick but the numbers are tight, only 1 or 2 spots left for Stevens Noseworthy Fortune Tremblay Querry...

I agree Mr. Price the D is going to create alot of our offense this year with the transition game... they will make our forwards look better than they are. I'm curious what do you think about Tremblay?

I was disapointed in Stevens...He seem to hang on to the puck to long and lost it most of the time.. I do think the ice played a factor tonight...I played on it most of the sumer and it was awful...I found alot of the rookies had a hard time keeping up with the pace...

I'm curious what do you think about Tremblay? To me he is a bit of a one trick pony...he can finish and has good hands, but he is not super big, fast or physical. Sort of a Jason Blake without the abrasiveness.

I liked what I saw from MacAusland tonight. I thought he played with side of him I've never seen before.. physical. He had some decent hits and at one point it looked like he was gonna take on Didomenico. Having him on a line with Sill and Brannon didn't work out all that bad, as I thought they had some good chances. I wouldn't give up on him just yet. He did miss a fair amount of time last year and he is only 17.
I also agree that Tremblay played well. He's got a good shot and he seems to have a nose for the net.

I can honestly not believe that anyone is thinking about giving up on MacAusland right now. You cannot judge anything from a 16 year old season, specially one where the kid missed a lot of time to injury and played mostly 4th line.
Like I said in another post, it will take him more time to adapt to the Q game then a player like, lets say, Brown, simply because he's a lot smaller then the average player. At this age, where the physical difference between a 16 year old and a 19 year old can be HUGE, it is sure to have an impact. I would say even more so then in the NHL.
Anyone bashing MacAusland right now is being ridiculous IMO. Then only thing he is missing currently is the physical side. His skating is ok, he is aggressive (although didn't have the strengh as of last year to be effective on that side of things), has great vision and has good finishing potential. His potential is through the roof. You simply do not give up on that much talent, specially if there is work ethic, at that young an age.
I think you'll see a certain improvement from MacAusland this year, but I would expect the big leap to be made during his 18 year old season. As he gets older, I have the impression that he will explode on the scoresheet. Wait and let time take it's toll, there's light at the end of the tunnel.

It's too early to tell this year with MacAusland and to write him off. It's not that he doesn't try because its obvious he does. I do think the player he will be for us the next three years will be the player he is at the end of this year. So I think we have to wait on him and decide at the end of this year. Its dam hard to be a 5'6" in the Q. I hope he can get there.
Some of the other vets like Cameron and Brannon and others need to show something by Christmas. They don't have as much time left of there time here to say they can play half hearted till they leave. If it isn't happening before Christmas then trades for offensive leadership needs to happen for the rookies sake
Stevens I would look at for a month only and older rookies the same. The pool is too deep with young talent to just fill a spot.
That's my take again in the for what its worth dept.
