Please ... stop posting and save us all the embarassment ... fans from other cities come here and read this stuff ... I seem to remember you trying to rally support for "everyone is entitled to an opinion no matter how dumb it is" when I was tearing into chsb about 4 years ago. Guess freedom of speech only applies to the other boards.

I know that I am going to get bashed for this but I think if the goalie comes out of the net say 5 feet passed the crease towards the blueline he is fair game for the forwards. Mayer came out twice quite a ways and could have been flattened. At that point is he not an extra forward?

Actually...Mayer was playing defence most of the game....He was out of the net more then he was in it...LOL That doesn't say much for your forecheck.......your not supposed to let him do that. If you mean wandering......thats a different story. That boy almost causes me to go into cardiac arrest every start he gets. Jeezus Robert stay in your net......but he rarely gets burned, so who am I to say anything LOL. If your goalie stops playing the puck and stays in his net, your prised d-men would all end up hurt from getting run over. The goalie playing the puck is essential in hockey, otherwise your d-men have to get plastered on every dump in.

One thing Mayer does exceptionally well is play the puck and he loves doing it which is a huge advantage when you have a goaltender that can do this well. He takes chances coming out he just needs to recognize when the risk is to high.

He was not committing as early last night compared to last year where he was flopping all over the place. He was playing a "calmer" game...maybe working with the Habs goalie coach helped him.

The 4-Ice Center is a Jr A/Minor Hockey rink and so it does not have the trapezoid area where the goaltender isn't allowed to play the puck ... so that rule was not in play last night. That allowed Mayer to roam a lot more than he normally can.
On Ace's comment ... the rules clearly state that intentional running of the goaltender will result in suspensions ... remember back to Yandle on Pavalec. However, I was hoping one of the kids on the bubble last night would have done it as a last hurrah.

I bet Taite Paul would have done it. LOL I really wanted to see him in an exhibition game. He was there more for the hitting than playing. He wasn't good enough for a roster spot but he was fun to watch.

At this point in time, given our team's dismal offensive output last year, and two of our top rookies this year (Bissonnette Gormley) being exceptionally good at passing, what our team needs more than the best all around player is someone who can put the puick in the net. I would say we must sign Tremblay, not because he's better than the others, but because he seems to have the one aspect of the game we need more than backchecking, fighting, passing, etc.

He did not score last night vs an experienced SJ team that was still missing some key parts.

The increase in offense this year should come from Cameron(take the next step), Brown(step up to 20-25 goals), MacAusland(30-40 points), Fomin, Voynov and Biduke(better shape plus full season), it would be pretty unrealistic to expect a small 17 year old rookie to lead the charge.

Cameron isn't going to take the next step.....I'm sorry but I've pretty much given up on this guy. Nobody expects Tremblay to lead the charge but this is still a rebuilding season and he has shown enough to make this team by showing some qualities that this team is lacking, he actually shoots the puck at the net, and a nice little shot it is.

Regular Season GP G A Pts PIM +/- 2007-08 46 2 11 13 16 4 Those are MacAuslands numbers from last year. Given his stats and size, I will try my luck with a rookie. Oh, I agree. I mean, he was a 16 YO rookie on the most offensively challenged team in franchise history and also missed over 1/3 of the season to injury and tournament play... but based on that as well as scrimmages and one pre-season game this year, I think it's best to cut our losses and move on to the Midget Espoirs kid of the same age who made the Titan third goalie and #8-10 dmen look really bad last week. I'm thinking if we cut him now and package him up at Christmas, we may salvage some of his quickly decreasing value.
