that's what I'm saying, he going to have a two game suspension because he was ruled the "instigator" of the fight when really, as I saw it they both wanted to go at it, so the ref called it, he gets the automatic two games...........that rule sucks.

The guy from Val D'or that fought Lane got an instagator penalty and never got suspended if im not mistaken, so i cant see Savard getting suspended for his fight. but then again you never know.

No suspension for McNeil, but Val D'or hasn't played since...they only play tomorrow. He received two 10 minute misconducts and two game misconducts in addition to the 2 and 5. With two game misconducts during that game, doesn't that mean he sits out the next game as well, or does this just add to his Code 4 violations?

Kyle McNeil did suit up today, so I guess that answers that question. So what's the point of two game misconducts then? Does it give him an extra code 4 violation?

A few (belated) thoughts on the game: • Paquette's hit was far from dirty, and far from a 5-minute major. He went in with hands high (would have been roughing if he'd connected), which to me clearly shows he's going for a hit high, and not low. Eagles (smart) ducked and moved to his left after he dumped the puck off, and Paquette went flying into the boards. Their knees collided as Eagles dragged his leg on his way out of the line of fire. Where Paquette whiffed, I can't see a 5-minute major... • Special teams: Moncton was able to take advantage of two idiotic Lewiston penalties on the same play. Lewy D Michalik wedges his stick between the legs of a Moncton player at neutral ice who was waiting for a pass from in his own zone. Moncton guy goes flying (legit) and ref's arm goes up. Moncton dumps the puck in and Lewy goalie (Delmas) plays it, whistle blows. A Moncton player skates in the general vicinity of Delmas and 19-year-old rookie Stagles showes him to the ice. Penalty again. Moncton scores twice on the PP and boom, game over. • Riopel. Period. Right now, this cat is the best goalie in the league, bar none. Shaem he wasn't drafted into the NHL, but this season will give him a shot, if he stays true to the fundamentals he displayed Friday. He is square to the puck, quick post to post and his glove reflexes are solid. • Lewiston vets are sloppy right now, perhaps a bit of an NHL camp hangover, especially the defensemen. I full expect that to fix itself this season. • This was the first time Lewy was shutout since January of 2007. Not a single shutout for or against last season. • Moncton will be solid all season, especially when you get everyone back and healthy. There is no reason the 'Cats shouldn't be solid all season, and they are easily one of the top 3 in the Atlantic (with CB and SJ). This all bodes well for next year. Moncton and Lewy (IMO, of course) had two of the best four Q drafts this past June. I wish we still played 8 times in a season. It would be fun. Good luck the rest of the way, guys. Lewy has a tough CB-CB-HAL 3-in-3 this weekend. Hopefully we can help you out a bit in the standings

Brodeur? Chaput? Connelly? Clarke was described as a Marshall clone, is that somewhat accurate?

Clake is as-advertised. He will be leading the PP this year already. He hits well and is very composed. One fan in Lewiston said he looks indifferent out there. I like to think that's more of a relaxed confidence. he's solid, both ends of the ice. Clarke appears to be a Marshall "clone," I suppose, without (so far) the stupid penalties. Phillips is at Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts for the season. Brodeur is a wrecking ball. He plays on the energy line and bangs around and causes turnovers. His role is one I can evaluate more as the season goes along, because the role he plays is so specific right now. Chaput is going to be a player. He's got solid vision. He seems to run around a bit right now, but I expect that from a 16-year-old. His skills are there, though, and he will fill out even more in the next couple of years...scary. Connelly played himself into the No. 3 role early with shaky play in the first three games of the season, giving up 14 goals in 3 games. Wright came in and was OK, and now Delmas is back. It will be a fight between Wright and Connelly for the backup role this year. To me, Connelly needs to gain confidence somehow. He seems so apprehensive out there, not the typical demeanor I would expect from a goalie.
On a side note of my own: If you get the chance to watch Eric Gelinas, do it. This kid is going to be a 1st-round NHL pick next June, mark my words. He's grown a bit, bulked up a lot and he is playing with a grit and a confidence that's scary. Easily, he's been our top D-man so far - And he's only 17...

He definitely has the package to go 1st round as long as he has a strong year.
