Great job by your team. Not by beating us as I think just about any team in the Q could have done that today. I love the work ethic you guys have. Best in the league I've seen this year. Everyone hustles. Positionally sound play. Great mix of talent and grit. Obviously a team that believes in itself and it's systems, from top to bottom.
I actually think I'll be driving up to some of your games this year after watching your team a few times, and I don't mean only games where you play the Sea Dogs. Everytime I've watched the Wildcats, I've enjoyed it.

I think they they learned from their mistake during the Mem Cup year ... ... SteveUrl, ... you make some quality points. To be honest, I can't think of one mistake they made in preparation for hosting the Memorial Cup. Q league championship, and playing in the Mem Cup final ... Until you used the word "some", I thought you were trying to butter up Steve. Now I think you are passively provoking him.

I just thought in hind sight that the Bourdon trade didn't give the return that they thought it would. They gave up there leading scorer a couple picks and then they had to give up marchand. Imagine the position they would be if they would of made the Marchand deal to Halifax last year. They would be a power house for the next 5 years lol Oh god, please don't bring up the could've should've about the Bourdon trade.....if you want to feel better about that whole thing go look at the giant picture just outside the boutique....I'd bet anything that if you would ask Nolan and Flynn about that trade they'd say they'd do it all over again without a thought.

There is just no way to know what effect a healthy Bourdon would have had. It was just an unfortunate injury that makes it look like we paid too much.

How many times did the Cats (especially Brown) strip the puck from Sea Dog players today? I braught that up when the Sea Dogs were in Montreal. They get knocked off, or stripped up the puck very easily. Judging by some recaps of other games It seems to be a consistent thing..

If this is "your team your time" you had better get some help for Dido and Sparling. Your D is good but Moncton out played you guys in all facets tonight. I know that saint John is a LOT better team than they showed tonight but you cannot win a championship with 1 line. You will definately need an upgrade on a few OA's. But I really don't think that this trade period you can afford to not make some moves. Either way it was a great effort by the Cats. Made a few enemies up there too. Guess I was being a little to loud for har"bore" station. Lol

Just got back from Saint John ..
BIG win for the Wildcats, capping off a big weekend for them. 6-0 and 5-1 wins. I know we're early into the season, but this team is impressing me, BIG time. Riopel is playing awesome, could have possibly had another shutout today (the goal scored by Saint John was scored while Riopel had no stick .. not saying Saint John wouldn't have scored if he had a stick, just saying .. ) I must say I'm impressed with Famin the past few games. 5 goals in the last 3 games, all while playing on the fourth line. Today playing with Lane and Pettersson, Bissonnette and Pettersson the other few. What a good team win today. Scoring from different guys, well balanced attack, not counting on one or two guys. Is this team for real? I'm not ready to start making the banners yet, but this team has definitely got me excited for what they possibly could do.

Great effort by the team today. Riopel is playing amazing, that's what confidence does for ya. Gotta like the contribution of all 4 lines today. Balanced scoring goes a long way. Hope it continues, with PEI on Thursday & Halifax on Saturday, it could be another successful week.

I was glad to see Lahey get a goal tonight. He had a monster hit in the offensive zone on an earlier shift and on that shift he stripped the puck from the Sea Dogs(what's new?) Wire a shot that just missed the top corner and went all the way back to the Cats zone.... Also....what the heck is Lane doing out there? I would much rather have Roski(Yes he's healthy and he has been for 2 games now) skating out there then him. Riopel played great, Cats had a few lapses and Sea Dogs took advantage of most of them...except for Dido, he was left alone in front of the new a few times and couldn't score. Lastly, I was shocked that Rio didn't get a star...no wonder he wasn't drafted or invited to the Russia Challenge

Great team win. Glad I made the trip. I cannot help but think that we did not see the real Saint John team today. Is there a flue bug or something going around the team....if not, I think they may need to make a few moves. Mayer was definitely off his game. Looked shaky from the start. And what was he thinking trying to beat Matt Brown to the puck when Matt looked to have a breakaway....ooops. Riopel played another great game. Surprised he did not get first star...or any star. The star selection must have been a random draw or something.
So, tied for the most road wins to start a season with eight. This is going to be a fun year.

......cannot help but think that we did not see the real Saint John team today.... There was 8 minutes in the 3rd where you scored 3 goals on 6 shots....that was the difference in the game. You guys trailed in shots all day, but got the early PP goal and played possum/trap all afternoon. However our forwards couldn't break through your defence to get any real good chances....all our shots were coming from the outside and your defence controlled the front of your net well enough for Riopel to cover anything he could get ahold of. I didn't see either team getting hammered or destroyed. Your guys played well and deserved the 2 points. But it's only 1 game. Next .

Alex Grant scores late in the 2nd period to cut the Wildcats lead to 2-1 and the Sea Dogs are going to grab all the momentum right? Late period goals like that are usually back breakers. It's funny because during the intermission I just had the feeling that was not going to be the case. In fact it was my belief that the intermisison was going to completely stop any of that Sea Dog momentum while allowing the Cats to re-group and come out strong in the 3rd. Sure enough we come out and score two goals in the first four minutes of the 3rd period and the game is essentially over. I know some people aren't overly convinced with Lahey's play but at least we didn't bring in a 20 year old from the OHL who's done absolutely nothing. I can only assume that Saint John already has something lined up for the Euro draft to have traded Gauthier and bring in Paige. I thought Halifax was the only team adding "stopgap" players to their roster I know that was far from Saint John's best effort but I don't think it's a coincidence that Cape Breton AND Saint John both had such poor games against us. Today was not the most exciting game by any means but when that's the case then more often than not the road team is doing its job. Very satisfying victory today and I'm glad I made the trip. I wonder if Neil Hodge is going to mention that we wouldn't have tied the Q record for most consecutive road wins to start a season back in the "olden days" since one of our wins was an OT victory and one a shootout victory.
