I'll be the first to say I'm not overly a huge fan of Lane, but I like having someone around that will make our guys feel safe out there, play bigger. I actually thought Lane didn't play half bad tonight, for the time he did play. My big thing I guess is when he's put out there with Pettersson and Bissonnette. Those two guys have some talent and I find Lane can bring them down, sorta speak. We have four quality lines that Flynn can roll. Put a guy like Roski, someone who can keep up a little more and has a little more raw skill than Lane and that makes a good fourth line. I'm not worried about having guys to take care of things when it gets dirty, because we have several guys who have showed willingness to drop them. Having Lane, just the size of him.. it's intimidating, even if he isn't pounding guys in fights. I constantly have different people around me commenting how big he is.. he's always talked about when he's on the ice.

Not sure why people are choosing this game to complain about Lane because like Sec.21critic I thought he had a pretty decent game. We really controlled the game from start to finish tonight as was to be expected. How many chances did Lessard miss tonight? The pairing of Savard-Jodoin continue to impress and this time made a big impression on the scoresheet. Matt Eagles now 7th in league scoring...when are we gonna get rid of this guy? Unfortunately there was more idiotic behavior in Section 23 tonight. This kid who must have been about 10-12 years old and I assume his father were there in Mooseheads jerseys to cheer on their team. The kid chanted and cheered for his team most of the game. Nothing wrong with that, right? Oh but apparently there is. This one guy felt the need to try and insult the kid by making comments about him "buying another cheeseburger." He also had to taunt the kid after the Cats 5th and 6th goals. Ugh...so embarrassing. Also in the 3rd period during one of the kids many "Go Moose Go" chants one girl screamed at him to shut up. But he didn't shut up and for that I give him props. It's too bad there aren't more fans like that kid who aren't afraid to cheer on their team. If the kid or his father are reading this I applaud you for your spirit. Keep it up!

I agree with the poster that said Eagles shouldn't be one of our 20 year olds, embarassing! A good 20 year old would have had 6-7 points tonight.

You guys are crazy....JOrdan Lane can barely skate backwards.....you guys are talking that he's not a liability. For a guy who's not a liabillity he hasn't even managed 1 shot on goal yet this season.
Not that I really mind watching him cause I'd rather they have an enforcer than not but he easily has the worst skills of any enforcer I can remember of the last couple years .

And Tremblay was one of the better fighters the league has seen the last 15 years....if Lane was at his level of fighting ability than no would care if he cant skate, but Lane isnt. Not by a long-shot. If Lane was 6'03 210 would he have even made your team??

Probably not but he isn't and that's why he is!! It's just like saying if eagles was not skilled would he be on our team. Come on. He knows his role and does it really well. I'm a big fan of Lane.

If we were struggling and/or under-achieving ... then maybe Lane has no place in our dressing room ... but that isn't the case at all. He is part of the team ... part of the chemistry ... and he accepts his role very well. Lane isn't going anywhere ... there is no need to get rid of him ... and since we have had a fairly steady flow of minor injuries so far this year ... he gets in the lineup without hurting anybody else. Roski sat out last night ... played the game before ... was injured for a few weeks before that. Just like many 16 YO his icetime will be managed ... he will sit out games when healthy ... and he will also play often. Lane's presence is not hurting Roski.

What harm is there having Lane on our team ? (requires an answer ... not an evasive response)

I dont really care that much, i was on last night and this thread was getting some replies so I posted. He isnt hurting anyones development by being on the team, but i just get a kick out of everyone saying he provides so much intimidation... And then billy cited Thomas as 'running away' from him...when billy should know that other factors play into it. Like perhaps the score of the game, or maybe JB said no fights...but hey billy has only been watching hockey for what? 20 years or so?

I wouldn't say he barely beat O'Connor - it was a pretty one sided fight IMO ... I don't think O'Connor landed anything as Lane was holding him out of reach ... Lane threw more punches and landed at least a couple of solid ones, he chucked about a half dozen in a row into the body, but I don't think most of them landed ... Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Lane killed him and left him in a bloody heap or anything, but if you were scoring on points, it would go down as a lop-sided win for Lane.

I watched it on the archive... for the first half, O'Conner was actually the aggressor, Lane almost looked to be in trouble against the glass. Then they had the stare down... Lane did most of the throwing but not landing... the crowd reacted to a couple big punches but it certainly didnt look like O'Conner got tagged with anything in the face (maybe helmet as he dodged them).... Both guys ended just standing there trying to reach eachother, no harm to either guy. I dont know if thats "one sided", both guys were fine, grappled, and the bigger guy was busier throwing but not landing... I'd give the edge to Lane for being busy but no damage done in the fight, however at 6'8 and on the team to be a 4th line goon, it was hardly a good showing against a guy who maybe has 5 career fights?
