your right goon, we are p****es if we can't take our sticks with two hands and smash another player while he is not even expecting it, square in the mouth! your a joke pal!! Nope, the Q is pussified because no one could fight Roy after that or send a message back to the Remparts without getting the same 15 game suspension Roy got for cross checking that guy in the face. It has taken all the intensity out of the game.

15 games is way too much for that if you ask. Looks to me like the guy was coming at Roy, who didn't want to fight, and put his stick up (just with a little too much exhuberance). 5 games maybe, 15 is a joke. I've seen that done countless times in the Q in years past with the result generally only being a minor penalty or a 5 minute major (next to little supplementary punishment). In all seriousness, what is the Q going to do when they actually have to go back to playing Canadian hockey at the Memorial. This pussified hockey they are playing now is going to but them behind the 8-ball. A similar incident would also get 15-20 games in the OHL. Cross-checks in the face do not belong in any hockey league. Maybe they would get the same suspension, but if someone went after Roy right after that incident and dropped the gloves they wouldn't get some bullshit 10 game suspension like they would under Courteau's rules.

With regards to the opinion that it looked like Bourgeois was coming after Roy... you're wrong.
You can't see it on this clip, however RDS aired a much more complete view of what happened the night of the game. As I stated in the general Q forum, Bourgeois and Roy were yapping at a distance of about five or six feet away and slowly glided towards each other. Bourgeois never even raised his hands and Roy got him out of nowhere.

Daddy must be so proud of his two sons. The sad thing, he probably is.

There are a few Roy's on that Quebec team....I know Jonathan is Patrick's son....and I just read that this guy is also Patrick's son...are there any others that could get suspensions in the future? ;D
PS - If he wasn't interested in the Montreal player's advances, there are many other routes to take other than putting both arms up with your stick near someone's face

Never said I didn't agree with the guy being suspended. I think 15 is a bit much though.

The league is full of guys that love to yap but have no intention of ever defending themselves. Hockey is becoming pussified. To many Ruutu's and Avery's around for my taste. Players should be able to police themselves without fear of a ridiculous suspension. How many people cried for Chris Simons head for his slash on Hollweg...How many guys has Hollweg run from behind into the boards since then...plenty. Why? because he will turtle. That's my rant. And I am A Don Cherry fan.

The boy lost his mind. Glad you don't decide the rules for my kids. You must have dropped out of the same tree as Roy. Bananas are on sale at Sobey's check it out. UFC is the place for you, at least guys are there by choice. Pussified...what your suggesting is goonafied, toughness is not to be confused with disprespecting over the top brutality. Roy is not tough...that's why the real p***y used his stick to cross check. Send the Roy family a message....15 games and there's more to come. Come out of the dark ages.

Say what you want, but if Roy new he would have to answer for his actions, he would have never put his stick in someone face, Roy wants to play with fire as he knows now he will not get burn.t

Maybe the victim in this should not have been yapping on the ice. maybe th evictim should learn that sometimes when you yap you better be ready to defend yourself. Maybe if someone didn't have to worry about missing a big chunk of his season Roy would have been dealt with on the ice. Whether you like it or not intimidation and having to face the other teams tough guy keeps players in line. I have to assume at this point you are a big figure skating fan. Since the rules have been changed to penalize the truly tough players inthe game the rats, stick artists, and floppers flourish. I cringe evrytime a Barnaby, Avery, Ruutu etc are called power forwards.

Um... maybe the "victim" was, but was ready to defend himself in a more manly fight than someone taking a cheap shot at his face with their stick.
To add to the drama, I'll remind folks that Bourgeois is a former Rempart.

i think courteau gave f. roy 15 games as a make-up call for his bogus suspensions of johnny and patty during last year's playoffs. as far as i'm concerned with the length of the suspension, be it too much or too little, personally, i couldn't give a rat's ass. it was dirty as hell. those roys are assholes and when f. roy gets back from his suspension, there'll be guys waiting for him. montreal has some semi-dirty players like fillier for example. i think this situation is far from over.
