I really enjoy the battle of the bridge. Both teams really don't seem to like each other. It's a lot of fun when you can feel the tension in the air. I do think that once SNB gets out of expansion mode (which is now) you will start to see more of a rivalry between them as well,

II do think that once SNB gets out of expansion mode (which is now) Saint John WILL make the playoffs this season and although I'm a Fog Devil fan, I couldn't be happier for the Sea Dogs. I just hope that Saint John and St. John's meet in the playoffs. That would elevate the rivalry between the two teams.

Wasnt there a game with Quebec where Cormier went nuts trying to get at Tidball that season as well. A linesman was hanging onto Cormier's leg for dear life so he wouldnt get free. Ahhh...those were the days! That's the game when Saulnier jumped off the bench to fight Tidball but there were only about 3 fights in that game. Cormier and tidball fought early on then the two tidball fights in the brawl. I've got a video clip of that somewhere. Yeah thats exactly the one. For some reason I thought there was more fights than you mentioned. I guess it was just intensity of it that brings memories back. And correct me if I am wrong, but I I recall Saulnier did quite well against a bigger Tidball.

Yeah, I didnt think he beat Tidball, but did a good job hanging on, and stepping up to the plate. Remember when Quebec came back into town a couple months later, I believe it was a Sunday afternoon game. The MC was packed with everyone looking for Cormier to finally get his mitts on Tidball, but he didnt dress. A bit of a dissapointment.

That seems to always happens with re-matches - complete anti-climax.

That would likely mean a whole bunch of grumpy fans watching us battle it out in their President's Cup. I don't see us meeting otherwise if all these predictions hold true.

I don't know if I've ever seen or been part of a rivalry that was better than the 2001-2002 Halifax/Cape Breton rivalry. The teams hated each other The fans hated each other The players hated each other There was the brawl during the warm-up of the December 30th game. Not to mention the suspensions, the fact that Cape Breton started the suspended players (they played under appeal of the suspensions) the very next game against Halifax, in Halifax. Ryan Flynn helped to solve the Mooseheads overage situation by dislocating Nick Greenough's shoulder in a fight. How about the tied game to end the regular season, with Cape Breton pulling Fleury in overtime? See that much? The playoffs, holy sweet merciful hell the playoff series was classic. The Eagles have had some good rivalries in the past, but in its hay-day the Eagles/Mooseheads was one of the greatest I've ever seen. You're combining a couple of seasons. It was 00-01 when the Flynn/Greenough fight and the pre-game brawl took place. 01-02 was the big playoff series and the infamous 'illegal-stick' call.

i say Devils and Dogs. Always a good game when they play and that 7-2 Dogs win got out of hand

I'd like to see their be more of a rivalry with the SeaDogs, & I think that will come soon enough. When the teams are closer matched & fighting with each other for a playoff spot, I think it will be more of a rivalry. Being a Moncton fan, I think our biggest rivalry has been with PEI; the " Battle of the Bridge ". Always a good game when the Rocket are in town. ( The 13-4 thumping 2 years ago stands out in my mind & some of the games in 2004-2005 were pretty good as well .. )

Maybe its not one of the best Q rivalries, but I say the Halifax/Quebec rivalry has had its moments and always seems intense. From the year we broke their 28 game unbeaten streak with a pair of weekend wins thanks to Nagy's hat tricks... to the Carnegie dance.... Tidball/Cormier... and again last year with Patrick Roy saying he doesnt put Voracek on the same level as Esposito, but rather the russian twins... followed by Voracek skating circles around the Remps in the big Espo vs Voracek hyped game. Halifax/BC had a GREAT rivalry in early 2000's... lots of national media brawls and always exciting games, capped off with Halifax beating the #1 ranked Drakkar in 7 games in the semifinal, winning big in BC. Probably the most consistently strong rivalry has been Hal/Bathurst though (from a Hal fan perspective)... intense playoff meetings, often battling eachother in the standings... usually a few good scraps per game (pre-no fight era we seem to be in). CB/Hal used to be great... still look forward to the games, but we are often on different rebuild schedules and the hate hasnt been there lately.

Yeah Quebec has been pretty good over the last 2-3 years, BC rivalry has died down somewhat. The Bathurst rivalry has been good lately. The line brawl from 2 years ago was pretty awesome (and Bathurst receiving a complete ass kicking)... why would you look to start a brawl when the other team has Cormier, Forrest, Chaisson, Saulnier... and Bodnarchuk on the ice. And the last several year CB and Hali haven't been fighting with each other for position so that rivalry has died down some.

Moncton-PEI would easily be my favorite. Halifax/Bathurst is right up there. Moncton/Quebec was decent... and like the Moose, there was a history there. Met them in the playoffs in 98,00,03 and 06, with 2000 and 2006 being classics.... then there was the Mem Cup. Moncton also had a decent rivalry with Victo while the two were still in the same division... and even after that. Had somethign like three or four line brawls/fight filled games with them over a two season period. Moncton/Halifax was interesing back around 96-97. Jody Shelley and Jarrod Thomas alone made those games entertaining. Out west, Victo, Shawinigan and the Volts have had some crazy games between each other. So have the Remps and Drakkar. Any game featuring Richard Martel is gold. ... and of course, there was the Granby vs. everyone rivalry. ;D
