I know for me personally I never get more excited for games then the "Battle of the Bridge" games. They always seem to be entertaining, no matter what the situation. We NEED to play in the playoffs again, it would be incredible. The first series between the two was a classic.

I don't know if I've ever seen or been part of a rivalry that was better than the 2001-2002 Halifax/Cape Breton rivalry. The teams hated each other The fans hated each other The players hated each other There was the brawl during the warm-up of the December 30th game. Not to mention the suspensions, the fact that Cape Breton started the suspended players (they played under appeal of the suspensions) the very next game against Halifax, in Halifax. Ryan Flynn helped to solve the Mooseheads overage situation by dislocating Nick Greenough's shoulder in a fight. How about the tied game to end the regular season, with Cape Breton pulling Fleury in overtime? See that much? The playoffs, holy sweet merciful hell the playoff series was classic. The Eagles have had some good rivalries in the past, but in its hay-day the Eagles/Mooseheads was one of the greatest I've ever seen. You're combining a couple of seasons. It was 00-01 when the Flynn/Greenough fight and the pre-game brawl took place. 01-02 was the big playoff series and the infamous 'illegal-stick' call. Ahhh yes, so I am, but at my age all the seasons kinda run together, like the year we played Val d'Or in the semi-finals, wasn't it awesome having Kevin Cloutier score the hat-trick to end his QMJHL regular season career?

We've beaten this topic to death on Into the Fog, and I'm sure it's come up on each of your own boards. But now we're all one big, happy family so let's haggle over the topic yet again. Who do you think is your teams biggest rival and why? Most Fog Devil fans choose Cape Breton, but for me, it's hands down the Saint John Sea Dogs. Why? 1. Expansion cousins. 2. St. John's vs Saint John (just like the RoughRiders vs. Rough Riders in the CFL) 3. Sea Dog = Seal... and well, you know what Newfoundlanders like to do with seals. Problem here is, sorry to be an asshole in saying this, are many of the games between these two teams of very high quality? Two expansion teams going at it.......... the Sea Dogs being particularly bad their first two years.............

I think most of these were in two infamous games at Metro Centre. I get the sad feeling we won't be seeing too many games like these anymore.

I'd like to see their be more of a rivalry with the SeaDogs, & I think that will come soon enough. When the teams are closer matched & fighting with each other for a playoff spot, I think it will be more of a rivalry. Being a Moncton fan, I think our biggest rivalry has been with PEI; the " Battle of the Bridge ". Always a good game when the Rocket are in town. ( The 13-4 thumping 2 years ago stands out in my mind & some of the games in 2004-2005 were pretty good as well .. ) That 13-4 game you speak of was one of the most fun games I've ever attended.......... rivalry was full blown that night.

Oh it was stellar. Josh Hepditch getting a hat trick after the crowd asked for it for a while. It was great to have capers on our side for that game. You've seen our rivalry, can you compare it to yours with Halifax?

It's a very good rivarly..... really good actually........ but it's a little one-sided........... PEI has for the most part been Moncton's bitch. Compare to ours with Halifax now or ours with Halifax in like 01 and 02? Now- no comparison, PEI/Mon all the way......... our rivalry with Halifax isn't what it used to be. 01-02 CB/Hal vs 04-05-06 PEI/Mon......... tough call. I'd have to see more live games between Mon/PEI to really know.

" Battle of the Bridge " for me see that we had 2 line Brawls in 2 years and it is just getting harder and harder , it is just not the first but the game it self because wqen we player PEI there is alot more hits and in your face players thats you dont usully see Actually, it's been three line brawls in three years: 04-05 - In a rare display of disregard for the rules, Jimmy Bonneau runs Corey Crawford. Gloves drop and violence ensues. 05-06 - The 13-4 game. I'd probably need to sit here for two hours to recap it enough to do it justice. Hepditch's hat trick is rivaled in this game only by Yannic Jean LOSING it on the bench and getting tossed midway through the second. 06-07 - 4-2 (?) win at home last November. Brawl punctuated by Jhase Sniderman going toe-to-toe with soon to be traded Ryan Mior. I believe Luc Boudon also delivered a (less that legal) hit on Martin Latal that caused a couple of people on the Rocket board to wish personal harm on 'ol LUUUUUUUUUUUCCCC. Good times...

I didn't wish personal harm on Luc so much as I did the guys that were running the video at the Coliseum that day. They played the video of that hit about 4032938724 times over the course of the game. It was getting a bit nauseating. The game was really boring and I thought I wasted a trip to Moncton, until the fireworks started... Also Morehouse is a bitch.

Over our ten years in the Q, I don't think any team has been a more consistently vicious rival of ours than Bathurst. Nothing topped Halifax back in the day but it hasn't been as CONSISTENT throughout the years as our rivalry with Bathurst has been. Met in the playoffs in 99, 01, 02, 06, and 07. Tons of fight-filled games over the ten years as well as a # of memorable line brawls. Catatonic Moose's #s say it all.......... Bathurst and CB have far more fighting majors against each other than against anyone else in the league- it's not even really close. Memorable line brawls off the top of my head: - 2001 playoffs, Game Two, line brawl breaks out in which Ryan Flinn runs amok and beats the living snot out of a couple of Titans....... Durak may have been one of them. - Sometime in the fall of the 01-02 season, Antoine Bergeron knocks out Marc-Olivier Vary with a cheapshot from behind (Vary was never the same player afterwards) and a brawl ensued that saw MA Fleury and Adam Russo go toe-to-toe at centre ice. Later in the game, George Davis jumped Bergeron to exact some revenge. - 03-04 season, just before Xmas, a line brawl broke out when Jonathan Tremblay went after Charles Fontaine to avenge a bone-crushing hit on young Ryan Seymour. Goalies Martin Houle and Fabio Luongo went at it at centre ice, with Luongo ending up being stretchered off after I think it was fainting at the sight of his own blood. - And of course the famous (or infamous ) Sportsnet game in February 2002 in which George Davis jumped into the Titan bench on national TV and ignited a brawl. As well, a couple of Davis-Tremblay fights from the 02-03 season must rank up near the top of the list of fights this league has seen over the past decade! Tremblay also had a very solid rivalry with Nathan Veinot during the 03-04 season. Add it all up and it's been quite the rivalry, and 75% of Eagle-Titan games are very chippy, no matter what year it is. For the most part, it's been a bit of a one-sided rivalry, with the Titan maintaining a considerable historical edge despite the Eagles finally beating them in a playoff series this past season.

Yeah, that was pretty blatent.hehe As for Moorehouse... he's one of those guys who you love to hate on the ice... and is an awesome kid off ice. Similar to Nathan Saunders when he was here, only even more outgoing... and more of a prick on the ice as well.
