I think his production would increase on a weaker team. He gets very little PP time here and does not get a regular shift. Our 1st and 2nd lines are out there 2-3 shifts for every shift that Lahey gets. If he plays on a team where he gets regular top 6 forward minutes ... plus PP time ... he'd get far more production. IMO ... Lahey is better than Biduke ... and Biduke showed he could produce given decent icetime. I do get the feeling though that Lahey is getting fed up ... being 20 and having to battle 16 and 17 YOs for icetime ... and not getting the high end linemates he wants. I can understand him being that way ... too bad ... but if he doesn't become a better team guy then he will be on the way out. The thing about Lahey us he didn't cost us anything and so we can walk away from him also without really losing anything. He did cost us Biduke ... but he didn't cost us anything either. We don't have to trade either of them ... we can just send him home. I think we need a pure goal scorer on this team ... we lack that game breaker guy against stronger defensive teams. I'd be all for upgrading on Lahey with a guy like Monahan ... he has spectacular speed and put up 38 goals last year ... at a slower pace this year on a bad team in VD. I'd much rather add some offense up front than tinker with our best in the Q defense. I thought Biduke was a way better finisher than Lahey.....and we lack finishers.Lahey has better speed and is a bit more physical....doesn't hit harder than Biduke but hits more often. It's almost a wash but I would say Biduke was more valuable to the team than Lahey is (IMO).Also Biduke was noticeably better this year(better shape)....it would've been interesting to see his production this year on a better team. I agree the Cats could use a game breaker sniper but I'd be scared to pick up Monahan.....for some reason I don't think he's a team-first player by any means. Also other than his 38goal season last year I never really thought of him being anything spectacular. The last 2 seasons he's folded like a cheap tent come playoff time (0pts 6GP in 07 and 2pts 6GP in 08).I think the best option for a 20 yo sniper would be Joly. I agree on Monahan. Last year he had 30 goals in 42 games before the new year. After that he put up a whopping 8 goals in 28 games the rest of the season. Can't say that I'm overly interested in a player that folded in the second half last year.

Biduke was moved for off ice reasons, not because Lahey is the better player. I think the Cats have a lot of finishers, not necessarily star calibre ones except maybe Eagles, but a lot of 25 goal calibre guys, Famin Eagles Brannon Brown. You could go get a 90-100 point centerman like Petit, an upgrade on Cameron who is a 65-70 point calibre one but Stephens would end up 4th line or on the wing. What's happened to Ted Stephens anyways? He hasn't scored a goal since October 24th and has been completely invisible in most games recently. Was his hot start just a flash in the pan or has that injury he picked up earlier in the year been causing problems?

Flash in the Pan...He's been a healthy scratch on 1 occasion, I think if Cats make moves at Deadline, he'll be delt....

Flash in the Pan...He's been a healthy scratch on 1 occasion, I think if Cats make moves at Deadline, he'll be delt.... I think if you consider where he was at a year ago, he has come a long way - it probably wasn't reasonable to expect him to keep producing at the same clip he did early in the season. Don't forget that his ice time and more importantly PP time was cut significantly once Cameron returned from pro camp and guys got healthy up front. I think he will be a key player next year at 19 when we need guys to step up and replace the production of Eagles and probably one of Brannon/Cameron/Lessard (assuming Riopel is back). I doubt his trade value is all that high - I don't see much point in dealing him now.

He's hit a slump recently, it's not easy putting up big numbers playing 3rd line.

I made the trek to Moncton for this game, and personally I thought it was decent, and not just because the Eagles won. It wasn't winning any game of the year awards but thought it was decent hockey, the game slowed down in the 3rd because CB went into full lockdown mode.
If the game was boring it was more attributable to the style of play of the two teams. As a CB fan the win was satisfying because it was simliar to what Moncton did to us in the 2-1 game at C200 a few weeks back.

I do agree that he's come a long way and in fact wasn't even saying he was a flash in the pan in general but just to start the season. Which I think is very true to an extent. He had 3 goals in the first game of the season has had 4 goals the rest of the way. I also just can't help but notice that he had 7 goals and 8 assists in 15 games prior to his injury and has 4 assists in 12 games after that. So to me the injury is either a nagging one or it simply derailed the nice start to the season he had. I'm not sure I would say that his PP was cut significantly as a reason because Cameron only missed the first four game. Since then Stephens has been a fixture on the 2nd PP unit for most of the season which sees a fair amount of ice time.
