My final roster has Wright on it, without a doubt. I don't like the idea of going back to a roster where you are relying on middleweights to show up and hang in with the heavies and get beat on in the meantime. In terms of hockey skills, I would put Wright behind Lafferiere bu ahead of guys like Steve Natywary and Alex Ennaffati. The difference is that they were here at 19 and 18 whereas Wright is only 17. I'd prefer to develop him in the Q as our 14th forward. That way he's practicing and working on his skating everyday, he getting the higher level of coaching in terms of conditioning and nutrition than he'd get in Jr. A and he's learning how to fight against Q tough guys rather than Jr. A tough guys (though some would argue there are tougher guys in Jr. A than in the Q right now). Lets say he sticks, gets into 40 games against teams where his presence is needed, learns a lot by practicing with Q players, improves his skating and conditioning with Q coaching and picks up fighing experience as a 17 year old. Then we have him returning at 18 to be a top end heavyweight in the league. If he goes down to Jr. A he doesn't get the coaching that he needs to develop the other parts of his game that need to improve so that he's able to increase his ice time and add new dimensions to his game at 18 and 19. I think it's an easy choice to insert Wright and drop Schmidt. In my opinion, I'm skeptical of keeping Schmidt on the opening roster. He'll be making the team based on offensive production in preseason (I'll point out he's done nothing offensively in the last 2 games) but he'll go straight to the 3rd/4th line. How do we equate his success as a checking forward with offensive production when playing with Morrison/Latal/Doyle in preseason. Looking at his stats from last year... 4 assists in 22 games as an 18 year old. I'm looking for much more from a 19 year old than he's provided in the past. I'd much rather use his roster for an option such as Wright than for him, who'll play a similar role to Cliche, MacLean, DesRoches, Street (all younger). Is it fair to evaluate him this way? No, probably not. But we've seen all along that 19 year olds aren't always treated fairly (if fair means equal in terms of points) when they are considered against younger prospect players. To me, it's a tough but logical decision. McKinley, on the other hand is a tough one. If we cut him, we're basically giving up on him at 18. But, he hasn't performed as he's needed to thus far in camp. Getting injured certainly hasn't helped his cause, but he didn't play to the point where he stood out in other exhibition games. I think DesRoches has shown he's going to be able to play in the Q. I think the real question is in goal, where we'll see if we start the season with 3 goaltenders or 2. cb I think you will see in the next set of cuts: Wright---Let the kid drop the mitts this season in the MJAHL as a 17yr old. Come back next season at 18. More experienced, and a year older/bigger. IMO McKinley---IMO, DesRoches took his job. They were gonna keep MacLean and Street no matter what apparently, and with the way DesRoches has been playing, he's making it to hard to cut him. As did Paynter last season. McKinley has not turned up his game enough to give him the spot. I don't think he'd be cut outright. I can see them carrying 2 extra forwards and 2 extra defence (considering Main as a forward). If we keep Main on the D, our FW's may look like this: Latal-Morrison-Walker Kana-Doyle-Locke Schmidt-Lachaine-Cliche MacLean-DesRoches-Paynter Street

What if it's a player they send to a Jr. A team and then that Jr. A team trades him? Technically he'd still be cut and traded in the same day.
This sounds like a BS rumor either way.
