What a disgraceful showing... if the team doesn't play better wednesday this rink will look like the montreal rink when they left... they dont bother playing hard until the game is out of reach.. not acceptable and if Jean can just sit there with his arms crossed watching his team play like shit then he obviously isn't thinking his job is on the line think Savard sr was there to witness this debacle as well Paynters fight was great but maybe we could have used it in the first or second when the game was still in reach.. course hard to fight when your stapled to the bench or killing penalties Even though earlier in the game he might of had to fight someone who's actually a fighter which Leduc is not although lately he sure does like giving it a good ole college try.

No need to hit the panic button yet not sure what's going on with the coach doesn't seem to popular.
Lafleur really kept the rocket in the game for the first period.
I still think as the season goes on the Rocket should be a top 5 team but Swit as a 20 yr old? ouch!
I think alot of teams could use a guy like Gallant there's a reason why he had an invite to the Sens rookie camp

That was the worst game ever. I thought of leaving after the 2nd as well and I never consider leaving! I did stick it out. Paynter's fight was good. So I am glad that I stayed. Rocket should of got zero stars. Lessard as 2nd star was a joke! He was a -3 for the game and had no points. I am hoping to see the team play a full 60 minutes on Wednesday. It would be nice to get 100% effort out of each player and try to turn this team around.

This was one of the worst games I have seen in a long time. The team was flat and no effort was put forth at all. If they think they have few fans now keep it up and you'll lose a lot more fans. Now I realize it's only the second game and we shouldn't press the panic button already but hey guys come on put some effort into it.
What the hell is up with Coach Jean. It's pretty hard for the lines to gel when there is always three different players on the ice all the time. He was switching the players up all the time yesterday. Why not try and get some line combinations so the guys can get used to each other when they are out on the ice. Yesterday's game was a discraceful showing. It's not just the players. The coaching was horrible also.
With that said you have to give full marks to the Dogs. They played good and wanted it more. If our guys had of put that effort in I'm sure it would have been a different outcome. Well there is my two cents worth.

Most of the disgraces were on the home side tonite by the way im reading these posts. Get someone other than Walker and Paytner to handle the tough going . Your team was scared shittless. I don't even understand this post. Please explain what the hell you're talking about... None of our players backed down from anything, so I don't know where the "scared shitless" comes from. Do you even understand the game. Im a fan but standing up to them does not mean their not scared. Our defense did not want the puck, they were looking over their shoulder all night. The same reason our passes were clicking. I liked when Southorn came to the aid of main after the high stick from Gallant which is what we have to do.It did happen right in front of me and Gallant only had one hand on his stick, seen a lot worse and only have a minor penalty called. Was kind of funny watching both players trying to fight with him.Everyone is pissed and pointing fingers but we just have to regroup and fix what is broken. Start with the D . St John had it way to easy tonite in the nutural and our zones.

Our defence's problem wasn't that they were looking over their shoulder scared or anything like that, it was their transitional game. The first pass was non-existent last night. We don't have a player like Gragnani who can carry the puck out of our zone on his own if needed. Our defencemen and forwards were completely out of sink, and the tranition from defence to offence just didn't work. That was pretty obvious by the fact that we were getting outshot 33-11 at one point. We need to add an offensive puck moving defenceman or this team isn't going anywhere. It's becoming more and more obvious to me all the time.

Even though some people think it's great development.. you can not play with 4 17 year old d and a marginal 20
One of them must be sacrificed for a heavy upgrade

I agree. Problem is that nothing can really be done until Christmas, I just hope it won't be too late by then.

I agree with most of what is said, however IMO you need to look not only at the D, yes playing with 4 17 year olds needs to be addressed, but also the transition, watching our break out was like pee wee hockey, 'okay Johnny stand here,' there is no movement. It has been said that SJ was prepared, yes they were, each player knows his assignment through the three zones, they play systems. They could have easily had 4-5 goals on the PP when we can't even get the zones. All this to say, don't be too hard on the players, they want to win, you don't play this level of hockey and not want to win. I saw at least 5 times coming through the neutral zone when two of our players were shoulder to shoulder, what's with that? All week they practice with line combinations, both foreward and D, then come game time they are switched up, it makes sense that they boys are running into one another. Set your lines, develop your systems and let the horses go, things should be fine, can coach Jean do this, I don't know....

I might as well chime in hear. Whoever said that the Rocket were scared shitless was correct. They were intimidated before the game even started. The Rocket need someone to stand up to the other teams toughguys. Walker shouldn't have to fight twice and get kicked out. We need his offensive production. The Gallant-Knox-Thomas line was very effective before Gallant got the boot. Constantly playing the body and hemming in the Rocket in their own zone for the entire time they were on the ice. Also it was funny seeing one guy beat two Rocket at once. I just sat there shaking my head. Also Gallant shouldn't have got the match for the slash. It was penalty, two or five, but no match. I can't see SJ keeping Knox if he is going to have 3rd or 4th line duty. I don't know what Jean's thinking was(Not that I usually do) in not dressing Wright for this game. SJ had the reputation going in that they were a big physical team that has a fondness for the rough stuff. If the kid kid is going to be the enforcer he should probably be dressed for one of the tougher teams in the league. Maybe they were saving him a beating or two. Send him to the Caps and let him cut his teeth there so next year he'll be better prepared. Hey Serge, Brad Gallant is available.
I sit in section 2 and the familiar fire the coach chants came out. I was wondering how many games into the season they would start. Also heard a "Get a toughguy" and "Shoot the fuckin puck" Won't win a game all year playing like that.

When you get a 5-minute penalty, the match penalty is automatic.

That sucks for him because it didn't warrant a match . I figured you could get a five minute slashing penatly. Oh well

I think it was more of an excuse to get Gallant off the ice. The ref didn't want to deal with him and by the way Gallant was running around like a retard I can't blame him.

someone mentioned in an earlier post about how well st. john passed thru the neutral zone. well, it is not difficult to do, when theopposing team dumps the puck in and does not forecheck. they are all staanding still between the blueline and center. anyone who can skate could go by them easily while standing still. was same last year, i cannot understand this system.

Oh well You can ... you can get a 5 minute major peanalty for any penalty out there ... tripping, interference, slashing, roughing etc. A match penalty is reserved for when one player shows an intent or attempt to injure the opponent.
