It might be 1500 announced, but I can't see there being that many. 1000-1200.

When you get a 5-minute penalty, the match penalty is automatic. Game misconduct is automatic, not the match ;D Match is an automatic suspension but i think it's 4 gamers before a suspension.

I almost compare the ranting and finger pointing to what you see in English football (or soccer). Manchester United took 3 games to get a win and the press and fans were calling for the coach's head. When they got their first win the crowd was singing and cheering the whole game to spur them on. Now they are in the top three of the table. In other words we know we have a good team and are going to have to ride this out with them. A decent analogy except that Man Utd aren't top three. But that's the nature of the English media and fans, no matter what team, what sport they are very fickle and fairweather. coaches don't get any chance when things go bad and clubs panic too much too soon. Need to give the team time before you all jump on them.

When you get a 5-minute penalty, the match penalty is automatic. How is that automatic... U don't always get a match pen With a 5 min pently u can get a 5 min major and thats it. like besides the 5 min fighting major u can still get other majors and not be kicked out!! Can't You? And a match is auto 2 games isn't it?

With the exception of fighting, when you get 5 minutes for boarding, high-sticking, elbowing, the game misconduct is automatic, followed by a review by the league.

I think the ref was just looking for an excuse to get rid of him, and took that oppurtunity to do it. The thing I have a problem with is the way he was running around, taking shots at people's heads instead of clean body checks, reckless disregard for other players, and just generally not playing hockey. I don't mind tough hockey players who like to bang and crash. In fact Kana and Main have been my favorite two players in the first 2 games precisely because of that. However I do mind when players are out there to injure opposing players. It's completely disrespectful to everyone on the ice and everyone watching. The way he played up until the point he got thrown out was disgraceful, I really don't care what anyone says, whether from their team or our team. And I really don't care what kind of a person he is either. It's what he was doing on the ice that bothers me.

Brett Gallant has yet to show anyone he is capable of playing the sport of hockey
Every game he's played against PEI he's run around with blatant disregard and done nothing but try to fight
and I don't care what type of person he is either... he's simply not a hockey player
he went to the Sens rookie camp.. big deal.. as Shania used to say that don't impress me much

I'm sure if a Rocket player was invited to an NHL camp as a goon you wouldn't be saying the same thing it's no joke to get an NHL invite EVER dude. If he was taking shots at guys heads unless we're talking about the highstick only then why wouldn't a ref or better still a player step up and do something about it?

Not sure what all of the whining about Brett Gallant is all about. If the Rocket had a toughguy they probably would have squared off after the first couple of shifts that Gallant was running around. Then the highsticking and beating up Southurn and Main wouldn't have happened. I thought the Gallant line played they way they should the first couple of shifts. They pounded the body and they intimidated the Rocket. Thats what Gallant is there for. He did his job fine.
This is the exact same thing as the first half of last year, when the likes of Laliberte was getting abused by other teams toughguys. He had to fight his own battles until X-mas. Same thing this year with Walker and Southern doing the fighting.

Look, we had this kid on our team a couple years ago, you might remember him, his name was Jimmy Bonneau. He was one of the top tough guys in the league, and always played with an edge. But he very rarely, if ever, ran around like Brett was doing before he was tossed.
Like I said I love players who play tough. I don't love players that have no respect for the other players and are a danger to the other team. What Brett was doing out there was ridiculous.
And for the last time, he didn't beat up anybody. Southorn may have taken 1 or 2 punches, and Main didn't take one. The linesman was in between them the second they started. Southorn didn't even want to fight, but Gallant in all his lack of respect didn't give him a choice.
It was like he knew he was probably going to get tossed so he decided to make an even bigger shit show out of it.
I understand that playing back on the Island must get his emotions jacked, but he was being an idiot out there. No question about it.

Before the highstick he never did anything wrong though so it doesn't make sense he hit guys so what there was no headshots or there would have been a penalty or someone would have done something about it I would think shit Southorn did something about the highstick and he's only a buck 70. I seen plenty of knuckles being thrown from where I was sitting more then 2 punches. That was more of a fight then most of the other the fights that lasted about 5 seconds! The linesmen jumped in before it could be settled.

I was sitting right there looking at both Main and Gallant as Main carried the puck around the back of our net, all the while as Southorn added support in front of Lafleaur. Gallant was giving Main a few love taps just to let him know he was there, however, on about the fourth tap, which would have been waist high if Main was standing straight up, Main dipped to cut behind the net, Gallant was committed and his stick stuck Main on the helmet, was it intentional - no, he was a player with a reputation letting another player know he was there. What happened main went down, you could see on Southorn's face he didn't want to go up against Gallant, shit he is a talented 17 year old, one of the to two D on this team, but Southorn is Southorn and I respect him for that, he went to the aid of his teammate knowing damn well he was going to get hit, the linesman must have known this to because he didn't even give them a chance to go, he was in so quick, the same could be said for Main. This was nothing more then a single incident that would have happened with any players involved, the fact that it was Gallant served him no pass by the refs, plus the idiodic show and dance he put on. As for Southorn, watch this kid, so calm, he will be a great one, however, even though he will look out for himself and his teammates he is not a fighter and this team does need someone who can settle these things before your top prospect has to.
